Why I Sold the Specialized Crux for the Enve Fray

How would you build your Specialized Crux/Enve Fray? 👇🏻

Enve Fray - Enve seatpost, stem, and handlebar (go with their recommendation here) My brain fails at wheels, currently I would prefer hooked than hookless but Enve is all hookless today. Which is not the only hook there (no pun intended), if the whole bike is Enve and you put ANY other brand wheel on it feels a bit dirty. Kind of kills the flow in my opinion. And that's why I haven't pulled the trigger cause my brain is having a dumb.

I am looking at the Fray and I am imagining a build with TRP Vistar/Classified. It sounds amazing.! Can you get a pre-release kit, build it up, and talk about it?

Modernising the crux by integrating cables, dropping stays, one piece cockpit etc would just make it... every other fast grav bike. I bought an s-works crux in part because of your videos and absolutely love it partly for its simplicity and understatement. Hope spesh keep it pure and don't ruin it

Looking at Sofia Gomez Villafane's Unbound Crux, it had UDH, but otherwise everything looked the same. That would be about the perfect spec in my book.

Crux for me because it is a more flexible bike and I can put bigger tyres in it. Fray only allows 1by with max. 40mm.

My first disc CX bike a 2017 rx2.0 1x11mech shifting and braking takes 40mm in the rear and 42-45mm for much of SoCal that is enough. The rocky or steeper trails is MTB. It would be borderline all road/ fast gravel bike now. The tarmac distance to dirt from home or start point makes it a better choice. Then a limited road bike and or driving a MTB somewhere to ride all the time.

I could be wrong...I think Allied Cycles started it first with "Allroad". I'm in the same situation. I don't want a pure gravel bike. I want something that does both road and beaten paths well. Great choice with the Enve Fray. IMO

I think most of my bikes over the years have a video outlining all the components- it’s varies by the bike. Gravel/mtb pedals have consistently been Shimano XTR, road pedals Shimano Ultegra.

Makes sense. Bike should reflect your lifestyle and local terrain. But why not a Roubaix or, dare I say, Domane where you can shod 38s, maybe 40? Also, what’s your hardtail? Would be interested to hear some mtb content!
