I agree with all your points. Sold my Push 2 a couple years ago, I miss it. I do not need portability of Push 3, or its price. I tried the Move and it reminded me of how I liked the Push 2. Returning the Move, just bought a used Push 2 again.

@ have to say I haven’t jelled with the Push at all, but it’s a lack of learning it mostly. The Move is far more suited to my brain for some reason haha. And I love the ease of automation/resampling. And the limitations are great for me haha. I need them. But both will be used going forward. Hoping to get into a rhythm of producing through the winter while travelling using the move and a mobile set up. Then come home in the new year and finish things off in the studio. Hopefully works out and can just keep going with it each year!

I have to agree. I took a look at what push 3 offered and while it's great, for me and what I do, the push 2 still does the job.

Cool you are brave enough to work on it. My back/side became sticky too. Removed the finish with denatured alcohol. Best to remove the bottom "shell" first to avoid leaks to the innards. TIP for anyone out there - get a piece of cardboard and poke the screws through as they are removed for a map of how to put it back together. There are various sizes. My PUSH 2 has a weird problem with velocity on some pads. The 2nd column from left, top 5 pads can not produce a velocity level less than 52. No matter how the pad dynamics are set, All other pads can play a value of 1. So I have to avoid those pads. I did take the entire thing apart to remove and clean the pad sensors and that unfortunately did not solve the issue. This is a daunting task not for the faint of heart. Putting it back together is a PITA! So I paid a lot for it new and it's worth very little. I do like the Ableton Push system so probably will re-invest in the 3. But not the "stand alone".

Brilliant idea for changing the colours for the drum rack pads. It makes midi editing sooo much clearer. I'm definitely stealing that idea. I have toyed with getting a Push 3 for a while, but as youve said, the Push 3 standalone is a serious investment. So after not being convinced i need the MPE pads right now. What i did was get a long USB lead and i've set Ableton as a launch item in Mac OS. So as soon as my mac mini boots up. Ableton is automatically loaded and ready to go, which really gives me the standalone feeling. What i found accidentally the other week, is that you can open and save Ableton sets right from the Push 2 hardware! So it really does feel like a standalone experience. From memory in Live 12 with Push2: -Save and load projects using Shift + Session. -Select + Session. -New + Session creates a new project.

This is the second video giving props to the Push 2 I've seen this week and I love to see it. If you don't need standalone, the 2 really is a crazy value right now and probably a better choice than the 3. I'm still totally in love with my 2, and it does everything so well I just can't see the need to get the 3. And your point about the flexibility of being connected to the software with the Push 2 and what that enables is spot on. Pair the 2 with your favorite midi keyboard and enjoy a powerful workstation workflow. It's dope.

@@maikvanrossum yeah, I think people tend to forget that most products are just that… products! Companies are still companies. @@nervouscooks well, my Push 2 is still top-notch 👌🏻 And I’m also glad that Ableton is still actively supporting it. With the latest releases of Live 12 it even got some feature updates 👍🏻 Hopefully they eventually will release a Push 3 Controller-only version, so with the sound card as an expansion, just like the current upgrade path to stand-alone. I’m new to Ableton and come from a groovebox background… the push might just open the software up to me. I’ve been messing with Ableton for a bit. It’s the one DAW that clicks for me coming from the MPC universe. I like the modern MPCs but they are expensive and even more expensive to repair (if you can find the parts). I was looking at the Push 3. But thank you showing me a functional but far less expensive option. Most of the sample based content on KZbin revolves around the MPC. It’s great to hear a different perspective.

@@machinemademan two different animals. They both can do a lot but have unique workflows. Sometimes it’s not the features but just how it feels to you. That’s often overlooked. great stuff man, i really aprpeciate my push after i watched this can you please explain how you route audio from ableton to sp404 and then back to ableton, my brain just stopped working
@nervouscooksАй бұрын
@@KasperKasperski 😂… so it’s just a case of setting your audio input and output to the SP inside Abletons preferences so you’re using it as your audio interface. You need to make sure your monitors or headphones are plugged into the SP as that’s how you’re going to hear Ableton. You need to connect it via the USB C cable from the SP to your laptop or whatever you use. You will see the SP listed as audio devices in Ableton. You can then use Ableton as normal but if you apply fx on the SP that will affect the audio coming from Ableton. To get it back into Ableton you just need to record to an audio track as the SP is also the input source… BUT.. don’t set your audio track to in or auto monitoring in Ableton as it creates a feedback loop which will sound awful. Just record but monitoring to out/off. Hope that makes sense. 👍
