Can't thank you enough for your content! I purchased your Ableton 11 course some time ago and it was a game changer for getting to grips with the DAW. Your teaching style is really accessible and I find myself retaining the info much better. Thanks for carrying that over with Move!

@@pushpatterns Agree with @malwensound. You are one of the few people who has actually given any screen time to this (even Ableton doesn't seem to have anything) and it's much appreciated. I think anything is appreciated, just having more content to see it being used as a controller. However, as someone who doesn't own push or any dedicated Ableton controller I would love to know if you can do any custom midi mapping with Move or see if any extra tips and tricks when using control mode with Drift etc...

In loop mode you can double-tap a single bar to select it. You don't have to choose a range.

@@pushpatterns It is amazing what a difference seemingly small workflow things make - doesn't need to be the big features that make the difference. I have had Ableton Live for years - since the really early versions - I have really wanted to like it - but it just never clicked until 12 and 12.1 and now I really love it. And it is the workflow improvements that have made the difference for me rather than some new synth or similar

You can delete all notes in a clip, by pressing delete X and the pad. It doesn’t remove the sample from that pad, which is what I assumed it would the first time I tried it.

Thank you. I thought I saw a reference to panning, but can’t find it in the video or how to do it on my Move. I appreciate your help.
Using it as a controller for live. Can you manual chop in the simpler like on the push?
@pushpatterns5 күн бұрын
Using the instruments in Live, you are limited. You can only really control the drum sampler for sample manipulation. I will check further though and let you know.
@Delano_8726 күн бұрын
Thanks for the video! Does it time-stretch loops? For example, if I want to use a drum loop as a starting point to build my own drums around, could I import a loop to one of the pads, trigger it on the first step in the step sequencer, and have the loop stay in sync with the tempo?
@pushpatterns26 күн бұрын
Hey! So not at the moment, if you sample onto one of the pads you are sampling directly into the new drum sampler instrument, which doesn’t have the warping abilities. But when sampling into the melodic sampler, you are sampling into Simpler, which does. However, at present I don’t think we can access it from Move.

I've gotta say, you are a fantastic communicator/teacher. Very well done. I do have a P3 Stand alone and I'm wondering what your insight is to the Move as a companion to the P3 (obviously the stand alone specifically). Of course there's the notable physical differences. I do "move" my P3S around the house and outside which is amazing to me. But it's waaay too big for traveling! So I love the thought of a mini P3 (though I get that isn't the marketing or goal with the Move). Do you feel like there's "enough" within the Move to not get bored? I'm sure they will do updates but I don't want to buy something on a "hope they do xyz with it".
@pushpatterns26 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! I have the Push 3 and Move; I feel the move is a lot quicker and a lot easier to start a track. And yest much more portbale! I don't think you will get bored; there's a lot of fun to be had with the sampling, connecting your phone, and the internal mic. But it does feel limited when you want to start expanding on the idea. but that's the point, right? Having the cloud and being able to transfer to P3 or Live is a game changer.
@aboxinthesea26 күн бұрын
@@pushpatterns That makes sense that the point of the Move is to be the quick breeding ground for ideas and NOT the main workhorse for expanding. Perhaps that's what most of the complaints are due to missing this. Maybe they should have called it Move... Quickly! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@pushpatterns26 күн бұрын
@@aboxinthesea Thats it! haha I like that 'Move Quickly'
@pushpatterns8 күн бұрын
@@aboxinthesea I think people are missing the impact that Ableton cloud will have. Having the ability to share projects from move, note, push and live is the real gamechanger.

Can you record an "audio track" while the beat is playing. For example can I sequence a drum and record a guitar part while the beat loops? Can I record a vocal part as a beat is playing?
@stianworld21 күн бұрын
you cannot record an audio track per say, but you can record a "sample" of your guitar and load it into the drum machine pads

Is there any way to delete samples? Also is there an auto-chop feature coming soon?
@pablodados26 күн бұрын
I think the only way to delete samples is via Move Manager (a weird feature to leave out). If there's a way to do it from Move itself, I'd love to know too!

On the pads or from the internal memory?
@pablodados25 күн бұрын
@@pushpatterns Not sure about the OP but I was referring to deleting samples from the internal memory. I believe you can only do it in Move Manager (and only one at a time!). Odd that you can create samples on Move but not delete them.

How to pan the tracks left and right?

The biggest L on this and PUSH 3 is the inability to sample via USB C. If Roland SP 404 can do it I don't see why ableton would not. It would save so much clutter when it comes to sampling.

Can you make a full length 5 minute track/song, Hit play and listen to the entire thing without touching it? If not. Its another crap, purposely incomplete product.
@pushpatterns8 күн бұрын
I understand your perspective, but I think you're missing the point regarding this particular device. It has specific limitations by design, and those limitations come with good intentions. That's where Ableton's Cloud capabilities are game changers. You can create an idea on these devices, and when you usually get stuck, you can now transfer it to Live and develop the full-length 5-minute track you desire.
