One thing that came to mind looking at the park was that you are placing trees rather than carving them out. I would probably look at park more in a Negative spaces kind of way. So fill the entire park area with trees and then start thinking about where in this wooden area I would like to have activities. And how would people get around to the different activities. And then just carve it out.

I think whilst having lines of trees is a good quick way to fill in some land and neaten it all up, it gets quite repetitive in my opinion and can begin to look unnatural. Even just deleting a couple of trees in each line, and then offsetting them a few feet from the line, can give a much more natural look and helps break up the regimented look to it all. I also like to add extra trees behind the main line on areas with a lot of space. Some places where i keep the absolutely straight lines is outside of businesses that would plant them that way on purpose and maintain them, or sometimes in showpiece areas in parks where everything is meant to look groomed to perfection.

If you're ever looking for inspiration for a big park in the middle of a city, have a look at Berlins "Tempelhofer Feld". It's a ridiculously large park in Berlin which used to be an airport. Nowadays, there's community gardens, the runways are used by bikers and skaters and there's even a bird reserve. I think something like that would look amazing in Cities Skylines Edit: I just found out that they're kite surfing on the former runways as well! Also, the Google Earth images sadly don't show the size and details of the park properly, so also look at pictures, please!
