@JEMANF I run a R7 in my bmw, but haven't updated my 360 mkII. Just raw dogging the escort. Their tech service has been a joke at best when trying to get their drive Smarter app to connect. I have no issue with escort live, but in emails I have sent I told them they should recall the whole app and start all over. Escort would and has found a way to mess up a wet dream..lol to say the least.

Let's just hope they don't resolve problems for just those specific guns and not the same models (and general guns) that police are using in the wild. Hopefully, Vortex will retain duplicates for testing to ensure that the firmware isn't modified for those unique guns and that those guns are messed with while in their possession. We shouldn't have to worry about that, but you know... "Trust, but verify."

​@VortexRadar thank you once again for all your work that you do. Your research along with testing is top tier. Yeah the ramp up, arrows along with distance is the main issue for me. I use to get minimum around 1mile Ka hits. After update i now get a full tilt Ka once I'm already in perfect view of the threat/ Texas DPS. Once I pass the threat the arrows don't change accordingly. It will still say the threat is in front. The Escort app is annoying hardly works or connects to redline 360c. Redline 360c onfirmation of a ticket inbound. The only reason I haven't got a ticket cause I know these state troopers are always in the same area. So I use this area as a testing ground to test my redline 360c after updates. So I can see if I can trust it. Which I've yet to feel comfortable relying on the 360c

The build quality over the Uniden is what brought me back, but it seems like Escorts component choices for its hardware just cant support the capabilities we expect. I hope they can fix it, but it has languished for years. Sadly, I wouldn't count on it.

I learned this lesson with the first generation Redline. They could have updates this one through bluetooth but chose to drop a new Redline. Escort never has a full functioning model, they just drop a new $900 problem. I now own a Uniden R3,R4,R8 & both V1’s ( Gen 1 & 2).I love all of them! I try not to say never but it will take a lot for me to go back to Escort. MAN I MISS BELTRONIC!

@@alfredozertuche784 The Range & BSM are great & is very quiet most of the time. Auto lockout need work but you can also manually set lockouts. Updating the software can be a pain but once you do it a couple of time it gets easier. I love the fact that if Uniden has a software bug, you can roll back to the pervious version until the bug is fixed. I think you will love it. The Uniden R8 & V1 Gen2 are the best out there to me. ( Make sure you pair it with the R8 phone app, this make programming the detector very easy.)

The OG redline was amazing when it came out. The red line ex was underwhelming, and now we have the 360c. Basically completely unusable or reliable, and escort just doesn't care.

And it's not just the detectors, the app sucks. It barely works, and when it does, key features are missing, struggling to do anything good, and quite frankly in day-to-day driving completely useless. In theory. It's a great idea to share radar ping with other users, but that's the issue, has to be with other escort. If it was open (hint hint) it would be a lot better, but escort would rather play litigation than functionality

It's a good thing that Escort is asking for the guns. I work in product manufacturing in a completely different industry but we have had "experts" say things about our products that we don't see in our testing. We don't know if there is something wrong with the so-called expert equipment, how is the testing carried out, if they are following guidelines, etc. Not saying there isn't a problem with the Escort detectors, there might as well be, but to ask for the equipment is not a red flag. Most manufacturers will ask to ensure proper testing methodologies.

Wow...I just bought my Redline 360c with the M2 camera a couple of weeks ago on yours and others recommendations, and the opinions go back and forth like anything else in the tech world. I've used Escort, Uniden, Cobra, Bel and Whistler RD's in the past and they all have their problems keeping up with technology, and like you said, none of them are perfect and all of them have their own issues. I'm confident that Escort will figure out a fix for this latest FW update and move in the right direction. I don't speed as much as I used to, but still like to know in advance where they are hiding to keep myself in check in case I am. Really enjoy your videos and opinions on all the brands and the time and effort you take to keep the masses informed. Thank you for all you do and keep up the great work.

I was waiting for almost 2 years for Escort to “figure out a fix” for the Redline 360c and they never did. If it’s a turd sandwich, unfortunately no matter how long you wait for it to turn into a steak it’s probably not going to. Shame on Escort. They took a lot of money from hard working people and sold them a piece of junk. Running a much cheaper Uniden R4 and I’m never looking back, at least never looking at another Escort radar detector. I appreciate your tenacity and dedication to a subject the vast majority of us don't have time for. I used to love Bell Labs and Escort detectors because they were incredibly durable and worked flawlessly! I've owned the 9500 windshield mount and the 9500ci. I was in love with both, although the laser diffuser in the CI was not great! Somewhere along the way Escort sold out and the reliability tanked along with their customer service! I have a Uniden R3 and an R7 and the build quality issues are disappointing but they are a beast when it comes to range! I had to send both in for "refurb" and spend approximately $100 but I guess that's the world we live in unfortunately!

Mike V is a good example of an honest person who sold a really good product. You have some great technology to do it as well, it's up to you whether or not you want to change your ways. I bought my Redline back around 2022, and it’s been flawless since day one, never had any issues, and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. No updates, no special firmware, just took it out of the box and hit the road. Well, about two weeks ago, I updated my Redline over the air without realizing what was coming. I didn't think twice since I was prepping it for a drive in the mountains at the end of the month, so I just went ahead. Little did I know, I’d just bricked my radar from doing what it was originally designed to do. Now, my K/Ka band has a crazy lag, and it's way quieter than before. I brushed it off, thinking they added features to cut false alerts... until I drove past a cop. It gave a faint, weak blip, then four seconds later came the full-blown alert. By then, it was way too late, got pulled over for going 84 in a 70. My fault for speeding, sure, but I’m also furious that I paid $800 for this thing, and now it won’t work like it was intended or advertised. Now, it’s just sitting on my desk as a paperweight while I’m back to using my old V1 for the time being.

Cop was using instant on. It's possible you was the first target. All radar detectors will fail in this case. However if other cars are ahead of you a better detector could have pickup instant on shots when the other cars are targeted. I also have a Redline 360c. I want my old firmware back too. I'm looking at getting a R8 in the future.

I bought a RL360C for my wife and a Uniden R8 for myself. In the past, I have used a 1st gen Escort Max 360, and then a Uniden R7. I liked the dashcam option for my wife with the Escort, along with its mostly plug and play functionality. But so far the Unidens, although a bit more chatty, seem to perform better. It seems like Escort prioritizes filtering and quietness over performance, whereas Uniden favors performance over quietness and filtering. I’d rather have a slightly chatty detector that performs extremely well than one that waits too long to alert me to a threat. Honestly, I get used to the chatter and over time I began to learn when it’s just BSM radar vs when it’s an actual K band threat. Anyway, I hope Escort fixes it soon! Great quality product. If they could just fix these issues and match the performance of the Unidens I would stick with Escort because of the other added benefits and ease of use.

In theory, Escort has great products but they've been living off of the brand name for far too long. I have a couple of old models that are collecting dust. I don't want to hate on them, but they don't seem to address their long term issues. The commentary in the video is excellent, but also a representation of what Escort's problems have been for YEARS! Still running my recently updated R3. I get it, not any one company is perfect, but for my $, Uniden is as good as it gets. I got a RL360C from Amazon about 2 weeks ago and of course right after I hooked it up I saw your videos. Thank god I’m not seeing these issues but I’m staying extra vigilant. Actually appreciating all the connectivity and smart mute gps storing it does automatically. So far it has alerted me in ample time from all KY cops I’ve come across. Have only run into one speed sign that it didn’t pick up 🤞🏼

I got rid of my detector when I started using full self driving in my tesla. One thing it showed me was I was far too aggressive of a driver and speeding wasn't buying me any time. I ran across this video accidentally, but I totally agree! I upgraded the firmware about a month ago and I’ve been seeing a bunch of weird stuff that just didn’t make sense. The arrows are all over the map, not helping decipher where the radar is actually located. I’ve been getting more K-band false alerts, and I’ve driven by a bunch of cops and got NO alert - even though my history says they usually have their radar running all the time. So I was wondering what the heck was going on. Clearly I’m not going crazy. The new firmware has definitely changed the way the Redline is operating as compared to how it’s worked for the past 18 months. And the app is useless on CarPlay., so I just use Waze.

My Redline 360C updated recently, now my arrows don't flip around, and the ramp up is slow and buggy. Didn't have too many issues with the old firmware, really annoyed that I can't downgrade back to the previous firmware :(

I've owned the Redline 360c since it was first released and the one thing I can say is the ramp up is virtually non existent. An alert to KA is basically one beep and the notice on the display. I owned the original Redline for years and it was terrific!

ironic i just got a ticket with my redline 360 last week. it didnt even go off. it was laser the police officer said . but i cant believe the 360 didnt alert any at all..........time to find a new one

Sorry about the ticket. If it was laser though, that is normal and it’s why you need laser jammers as well. No radar detector is sufficient against laser.

I am so glad I decided to get the V1G2 instead of the Redline 360c. By the way, with the the iPhone V1 Companion app the V1G2 detector has been fantastic. I could not be happier.

Thanks for providing that info. I had looked at the Escort and decided against it due to some other videos you did about it. I decided to go ahead and send in my V1G1 for an upgrade as I think it's the most bang for the buck price wise right now. Pair it with V1 Companion and I think it'll do what I want for now. I do plan to see, if any chance, what comes at SEMA for then and Uniden. Will probably still get a Uniden R8, or possibly what they may come out with later as I do drive 2 vehicles regularly. As for the CarPlay, and for that matter Android Auto, integration. I feel that if one of the premium brands found a good way to integrate the detector signals, and GPS, into an existing maps platform such as Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps, then they would have something special. Love it to be Waze/Google Maps. It's a place where a company such as Valentine could catchup with other high-end detectors and carve out a niche with something unique and useful.

My experience with Escort firmware updates is that they tend to cause more issues than they solve. Because of that, I always wait several weeks to see if there are negative issues with an update. Glad I waited on this one. I won't be applying it. Thanks for all your great work, Vortex!

The arrows on my Redline haven't worked correctly at all in the last 3 updates. I have maybe seen the side and rear arrows 2-3 times in months of use, always just stays on front arrow even when clearly passing the signal.

My bought my Redline 360c a year ago from July I had it for 12 months I had to send it in for repair. I wasn't completely happy with it the screen went out. And the Bluetooth never did work right you Jason speed limit on it you know you're going down the road it's supposed to tell you the speed limit of the road never were right I even changed phones still didn't work I must have made a dozen phone calls to escort they told me it was my phone it was my antivirus it was my and it was always the phone. I couldn't wait I finally sold it I think as I said it forget it it worked okay but when you pay $800 for a radar detector that doesn't work like it's supposed to it's really chilling could not recommend anybody getting an escort and I used to be an escort fan for years not anymore

I noticed arrow flipping issues in previous firmwares. I attributed the directional weirdness to the strength of the source and reflective sources ahead of me on the interstate. I’d pass the initial source and get an arrow flip, but on down the road, it would still show front arrow and go back and forth.

I’ve definitely experienced unusual K Band experiences. Yesterday, It gave me max K-Band alerts that did not go away for miles. There were no police in the vicinity, and it wouldn’t stop. I finally pulled the power and rebooted it, and it fell silent. Definitely bizarre behaviors.

I believe Escort will fix the problem, they always have in the past. They cannot afford to loose Vortex great reviews, they do a great job. I've stopped trusting escort after they update bricked my first 360 max (perfectly working detector with old serial number all of a sudden turns on with error) forcing it into obsolescence making me buy a new one... Their tools used to let you downgrade to fix issues and now they force you to only update to latest firmware... Since we can't prove they probably are blowing efuses on our devices to make them less functional I just don't trust them. If I have one in working condition I just don't update. My next one will definitely be a Uniden R series. F Escort trying to be the next Apple.

I use the Redline 360C dash-mount and my side and rear arrows don't display anymore. Only the front arrows light up when there's an alert.

Escort have dropped the ball. The original redline I had for over a decade is still a beast. Their newer DSP platform units are needing a ton of work. I have a Uniden R4 and love it! Thanks for your honest approach, urging escort to up their game!

I 100% agree. I used to have an original Redline as well and it was awesome. And I also now run a Uniden R4 and it’s a beast! It’s definitely light years ahead of the current Redline. The 360c is an expensive big POS.

I rarely exceed 80mph on the highway and my Redline has alerted with plenty of time to slow down. I’m sure Escort is addressing its firmware issues. Being in High Tech for over 30 years I’ve seen software patches bring down servers storage arrays and corporate networks. It sucks but I believe it will be short lived

I live in Maryland but work in Virginia and Only use the Redline for the stealthy platform which my R8 isn’t. I wish Uniden would make the R8 totally Stealthy like the Redline and then it would be the top dog. I used my R8 for everything else not but wish the App and Bluetooth functions works. Also the Valentine is stealthy but it has its own issue unless you use all the third party apps to help it and customize which puts the price point as high as the redline. I got the R8 recently with a great price . I just wish all the high end Radars put their radars through proper testing

I really hope they avoid releasing software for the Redline 360c that's tailored to your device's MAC address. Given that they've received your testing devices and probably know your radars MAC, it seems any future testing on the Redline 360c would necessitate purchasing a new one....

After this last update, my Redline has to be on top of a gun before it goes off. Hope they get this issue resolved quickly or we going to be testing that ticket coverage.

Escort has had problems since the 90s. I have the old redline and it has a major flaw. Leave up on a windshield during a hot summer day, even in Ohio. And you run the potential of cooking the electronics. Mine went bad twice from that issue. My V1 on the other hand, no problems.

I've had no issues with my dad's redline 360c after the update. I use an r8 as my daily driver but I've been running my dad's redline after the update to see if I had any issues. I live in Central Florida. I've run the r8 and redline 360c and it's been alerting to ka alerts within a second of each other. I have one detector mounted on bottom right if the windshield and the other bottom left to give as much space between the two in just in case. I can't trust the v1g2 as the one I had that I got rid of after a month, it continuously junked out all ka band alerts. Customer service gave me the tech support bs answer I use to give to users when I worked for one of the big three computer manufacturers. They blamed construction zones even though I passed by a Highway construction zone when the issue started. The issue continued on for close to two weeks. The only way I would ever buy a v1g2 again is if they released a firmware update where you can turn the junk out feature off. It's pointless to have it if I'm second guessing every time it junks out a signal.

I am not sure if it is frequency / band related or something else, but there are times when my Escort has lightning-fast detection and other times when you must be right on top of the cop before it goes off correctly. and I am talking about line-of-sight detection. not off axis and no, I don't think this issue is related to instant on cuz I don't see it on my R8

Well, so far so good. I have not have one problem with my redline 360 C. Since the new update came out with the new Bluetooth. The Escort Live app works perfect since the upgrade ,now the downside the Drive Smarter app 50/50

Does Escort Live still work? When I was using that it was great but about 6 weeks ago it had a problem with connecting. I called Escort and was told, essentially, switch to Drive Smarter which I have but prefer EL.

My Escort Redline 360c works great!! I don't have any of these issues. I think every detector has its own problems.

I have the Redline 360c version 1.14. I didn't notice any issues with K band delay but I use Auto mode since I think 1.9 or 1.10 when I started getting false rear Ka alerts in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico. Escort said to use auto mode and it worked before they fixed through update. Arrows have been good but I had to send it in 3 times under warranty. I called escort last week they said serial numbers A or AA were affected I have 1K serial numbers about 3 years old. Overall it seems to work good.

thanks for your analysis. let's say the 360c has it's updates and is running as it should. let's say the Uniden R8 and Valentine V1 Gen 2 are also working as they should - bc I can put up with the time it might take to work out the kinks - and let's say you had a Porsche. which are you putting in their?

Hey, thank you so much for your review on Redline 360c. I was debating for last couple of days if i should buy that and if it's really gonna work for 1300$. I've been using MAX360 since 2019 and using it right now been working awesome. Can you please make a full detailed video about MAX 360C MKII in 2024. I wanna get a better detector and the only person i trust in this choice is you. As i said before i was debating between Redline and Max 360c MKII. I really appreciate your work. The Max is similar to the Redline with less range and no RDD immunity. IMO if you’re gonna spring for the Max which is already pretty pricey, you might as well go straight to the Redline. That’s why I’ve largely overlooked the Max 360c Mk II.

I just got my first speeding ticket in six years after installing this newest firmware update four days ago. The next night I was driving when a police officer driving towards me was running KA band. My detector picked it up as he was driving right past me, and his lights turned on. There’s no way it was some sort of instant on, so I’m really wondering why my detector didn’t pick it up sooner, or why it didn’t alert me sooner. It really sucks.

@ I asked the deputy what type of radar he was running and he told me he was just driving around with his gun on. I asked if it was instant on, and he said no, but who knows.

May I ask your personal opinion of what the best windshield radar detector with RDD protection is and which one is the best with or without RDD protection? Would it be redline 360c for the rdd protection and the R8 for overall?

The biggest thing that sucks about Uniden is that they don't have the trade-in program. Escort at least allows you to trade the older models but Uniden doesn't.

I'll be honest, I updated my 360C with the newest firmware when it came out and I haven't had any issues with it. The arrows not always immediately turning from front to side to rear have always been there since I bought it, it's a few seconds when I pass a cop that the arrows start to turn, no biggie. However, I am still getting great range and have been saved a couple of times since getting the new firmware. Might mean that the cops in my area are not using the same type of guns Vortex is testing with but again, no issues on my end. Now watch, now that I just put that out there, next time I go out I get busted cause it never goes off. However now that I hear there have been issues, I will be more alert to its performance. Shame that we are having to deal with this for the 360c is the most expensive radar detector and at the insane price point, you wouldn't have such issues.

The apps have been terrible as well. I'm still trying to get the new one working. I switched from a gen 1 V1 to the 360c redline as soon as they came out. Well built but the arrows are so laggy along with the app and no support. Next detector will be something else for sure.
