Tim, I’ve been watching your videos for years now. One thing I’ve learned about you is that you think things through really well before you do anything. Keep on being you. Later Tater!

I get asked all the time why I have 4x4 blocks under the front of my dump trailer. That’s the reason, just to help the scissor start opening up. Haul mostly shingles and if I don’t watch how they’re loaded they’ll get heavy on the front. Nice set up Tim 👍🏼

Shingles are seriously heavy. I could see where you could easily be too heavy with them.

Good evening Tim. I don't understand why someone would have a problem with what you did to the sides of your trailer. First- it's your trailer, second- you are an intelligent man, even if you do talk like a hillbilly,, lol (lifelong dweller here from the burbs of Chicago) third- you have had this trailer now long enough to know what kind of modifications you would like on it, to improve your work flow, and not slow it down. It really gives me a good feeling watching you grow and expand your business. The man lift you got to use keeps you a little more from having to climb. Also the stump grinder to offer your clients more options you can do now. Which by the way, between the lift and stump grinder keeps you safer. I already talked about one of the benefits about the lift, you climbing a little less because of it. The stump grinder because that will keep you on the ground! Heights are not my friend. Lol. Anyway thank you for your content. Also thanks for taking the time to post your videos. Ed from Chicago 🙂

Hey Tim could you do a video explaining why you went the route you did with your equipment vs a bucket truck with a chip box and a hitch to tow the chipper. Seems like the one could save a lot of trips but there may be better reasons for all the individual pieces of equipment.
@georgeluther14092 жыл бұрын
I also have a small tree business I have a bucket truck like you’re talking about. The only thing is a lot of times your in tight spots that’s hard enough to get into without the chipper behind the truck. I’ve only used the chip bed on the bucket truck once and that was trimming tress right on the road. Hope this helps!

Bucket truck is only good for so much. Most anything you can do with a bucket truck can be done climbing. A bucket truck and a chip truck are higher class vehicles too which have a whole different set of rules and regulations and that ends up costing much more than a heavy duty pick up and a dump trailer. I’m not saying this is why he went with his setup up but those are some of the main differences.

They need to make a switch or a one click on off button so you dont have to hold it down the whole time that slow thing lifts
@detroitdragon70722 жыл бұрын
When you fix the push button, add 10 feet of cord so you can operate from the cab.
@mikeznel60482 жыл бұрын
You gotta get out and open the gates anyway. Kind of pointless to add more cord.

I have a dump trailer with scissors lift. The salesman said that in cold weather the telescoping rods don't want to come back down.
@briankirwan95882 жыл бұрын
We have never had a problem with ours coming back down in the cold. The coldest I have used it in was -23c. It was definitely a bit slower because the fluid is thicker but no big deal to wait an extra 20 seconds for it to come down

I don't really care for scissors, they are faster, but too many parts and I have fixed a few that the cylinder pins sheared or tore out of the frame.
@bryanchipps65722 жыл бұрын
Do you know how much that thing will actually lift? It looks like you're picking up about 14' of it so that pump is really working
@cotontop32 жыл бұрын
I’m not exactly sure. I do know this, I’ve had it extremely heavy on the front more than once, so much that my airbags on my truck went into disable mode and wouldn’t lift the truck. Even that time it still lifted with no problem.
@bryanchipps65722 жыл бұрын
I've had 7 tons in my 12 foot scissor but it was struggling for sure. I'm positive that it wouldn't have done that much if it was any longer. The telescoping ram is definitely impressive

I've seen some guys with dump trailers that have a pony motor and they seem to cycle faster, any thoughts on that?
@cotontop32 жыл бұрын
When I ordered my trailer gas motor was over 5k option and I bet now it’s more like $7k. My trailer was almost $25k at the time and prolly over 30 now so you’re just looking at an incredible amount of money for a dump trailer.
@ralphgwynn93252 жыл бұрын
@@cotontop3 yeah I see what you mean, didn't know what the extra cost was but that's a lot of money and like you said your not just dumping all day long. Thanks for the info 👍
