@AndrewJamesWilliams2 жыл бұрын
I can well understand, and sympathise with, why Ikaris betrayed the Eternals and tried to make sure that the Emergence happened. For thousands of years Ajax told him that's what his purpose was, it was as said in the video why he couldn't stay with Sersi even though he loved her as he would have eventually told her the truth and that would have broken her heart so he spared her the pain - and sacrificed his own happiness - of it by leaving her. From his perspective he sacrificed everything to fulfil his purpose as Ajax wanted - only for at the end Ajax to change her mind and suddenly want to stop it all. Thus its understandable why he did what he did. Hopefully he'll be back in the future or if he did die Arisham recreates him and he can have a redemption arc.

Because Marvel never ever had a character like Superman. They could never understand what Superman is. Superman is a symbol more so than a Marvel-esque ultra-relatable hero. From afar. Up close, he is one of the most human superheroes ever. This weird dichotomy of Superman, where Clark Kent is not, in fact, a disguise, but neither is Superman, he is both, he is a kind and loving human with all the human emotions and other imperfections, but also the symbol of hope. Also, it's been a horrible trend as of late to make a Superman rip-off and make him evil. Amazon handled it well. Everyone else just keeps failing, most of all Injustice, even though it has an actual version of Superman. At least Ikaris makes sense and isn't truly "evil", more so broken and loyal to his mission.

You can't really fully blame him or agree with him. Because (Please read the full comment before replying) They exist for Arishem and the Celestials. They're duty and the entire reason for their existence, powers, and immortality was to serve. Ikaris knew his purpose like the others. He was also very loyal and true to his master. He lived for his responsibilty. From his perspective -there is no greater reason than to live for the greater scheme and fulfill his duty. The Celestials made life possible. It is they who shaped the history of living beings and they naturally have power to do so. You can't really rebel against your creator and live for your personal joy. Making a Celestial emerge for it to make a new star for a new galaxy to be created and continue the expansion of life compared to your feelings is a very huge thing. Every Eternal but him chose to live and protect the world they got attached to for so many years. I don't blame them. They're not wrong to do that. But to ikaris it was going against the sole purpose of your existence and betraying your creators for a grand scheme to create new lives. (but I'm not gonna defend him. Because sacrificing others lives for your duty is NOT a good thing.) (To summarize. They betrayed each other.) I'm just scared what Arishem's judgement will be. We are a bit far from salvation.

I really don’t think Ikaris betrayed the other Eternals on purpose, because his eyes were glitching just like Thena’s when she wasn’t her true self. So I think 💭 that’s a possibility as well…
@warlock25102 жыл бұрын
Eternals are very interesting characters. They have a big role for Marvels next Avengers movie. Ikaris is dead so Thena is now the strongest eternal.

It seams like Marvel is going with the idea of the short term villain will actually turn out to be the long term hero. Look at Thanos. When Infinity war and end game came out it was like Yep he is definitely the big bad guy. But now with so much speculation of possible a multiverse war, the celestial egg in earth, and the Ikaris incident. It seams like that soon Marvel will make it so that Thena and her group will turn out to be the villains for not letting the order of the universe keep turning.

If Ajak told everyone in the team about the truth to begn with, this wouldn't happen. Everyone understood what needs to be done and they can make up their mind what they want to do from the get go. Ikaris wouldn't have to go through the struggle. I loved Ikaris and pains me to watch him conflicted between love and loyalty. Once again, lies destroy everything that is good. On another note, i was expecting the Eternals to be more powerful, but other than Ikaris, Gilgamesh and Thena, the rest really needs help fighting the Deviants.

Ikaris flying into the sun doesn't prove hes dead tbh, for instance superman can fly into the sun to repower, perhaps ikaris put himself into exile in the sun instead of "killing" himself

He wasn't right. If he'd worked with the other Eternals they could have put Tiamut to sleep and delayed the emergence; gotten everyone off Earth and still birthed the Celestial. His distraction of the Eternals (which wasted time), killing Ajak, and indirectly killing Gilgamesh while making Kro a bigger threat, and injuring Druig, pretty much forced them to go with the plan B and turn Tiamut into marble. If he was betrayed by anyone it's Arishem. But then, they were all betrayed by Arishem. I've got to laugh at all these "Ikaris was right" vids when he's pretty much Ravonna Renslayer. Yet where are all the vids saying she was right? 🤔🙄

Eternals was the Trolley problem on a cosmic level - save one that you love by sacrificing a dozen strangers? Planets or individuals, the dilemma is the same. And I, for one, never found a satisfying answer for the problem. I hope and expect to see Ikaris and all ten Eternals (even Ajak and Gilgamesh) in Eternals 2. Which I really, really, hope to see, despite the backlash the movie got.

It’s almost like Thanos was right the entire time…. He slowed multiple emergences all across the universe by erasing half of all life. But the Avengers just couldn’t handle it, and brought everyone back and gave the sudden spark of energy that made the emergence on Earth possible. So in closing, Thanos was right and the Avengers are the problem.

In 0 A.D. before Ikaris broke-up with Sersi, Ikaris could have said to Phastos, "hypothically, can you build machines to shrink/unshrink and safely move a Celestial through a planet?" and then Ikaris can bet Phastos to build the machines. If before asking the question, Ikaris swears Phastos to secrecy about the question and the machines: can Ikaris trust Phastos to keep what they are doing for 2,000+ years a secret from Ajax and the other Eternals?

I'm so sick and tired of Le Evulz Superman trope. It's literally the opposite of original. DC did it with Red Sun, Ultraman, Overman, Injustice (comic, videogame, cartoon), then you have Homelander and Omni Man, then Marvel has some versions of Hyperion, and of course, Sentry. It's soooo played out. It's funny how Hollywood creatives think they're subverting expectations and going against tropes and being super original and creative when literally all of them are doing the same thing. The original thing would have been to play the Superman role straight, that truly would've gone against the grain of modern society. As you said, the Ikaris twist was visible from miles away. That being said I did enjoyed the film, just wish Zhao had been less unoriginal. Also, for all the patting themselves on the back about diversity and inclusivity, my girl Salma got killed immediately without doing anything remotely cool or awesome. That's Hispanic representation for ya, just cannon fodder, everytime. As I understand it, this was a source of conflict between them since Salma called her out. I do hope Ikaris returns reformed, but also Ajak and Gilgamesh so they can get their proper due. Honestly, Ikaris is the most interesting character, the one with the strongest design out of the whole bunch, the best abilities and he was the face of the movie. Hell, even the movies' children's toys only made figures of him and Sersi, they clearly used the audience's familiarity with the Superman archetype to make Ikaris into the "hook" to get people interested.

I would also like to point out if everything arashim said the celestials do is taken to be fact, then Thanos whole goal is fucking stupid. He killed half the universe so resources wouldn’t run out. But apparently celestials out here making new stars and creating whole galaxies. They would never run out of anything
