iPhone 8 cost $700 when it debuted last year with even less pixels (same ppi but smaller size) though and people were kind of find with that. Now the XR has a lot of improvements (A12, better camera, much larger display, edge-to-edge design) over the 8 at a similar price point that the 8 had last year. I think it makes much more sense if I put it this way.

General Viewing it literally makes no difference unless you are looking into a microscope, you really can’t tell the difference between 720p and 1080p especially on such a compact screen, on a TV you can because it’s bigger and the pixels are noticeable but on a phone no. Although I have my reasons to stick to apple products and get the best out of them, those new price tags on the new iPhones make me sick. Telephone providers are resellers in the sense that they take the phones from Apple, Samsung etc and try their best to persuade you to buy a contract where not only do they make back what they spent to purchase the phones but even more. iPhones are the best smartphones. Android is still laggy and companies add their stupid skin over the operating system. I used android for 10 years and all of my androids slowed down and lagged out the ass 6 months in. I switched to iOS with the iPhone 6s in 2016 and my brother uses it now and it’s still as fluid and smooth. If you use the same iPhone for 2-3 years then the price makes sense.

I remember reading an article that Apple's executives are paid much less compared to other fortune 500/silicon valley tech companies (much less is relative, of course they're still making millions). And that's insane to think, considering they are the most valuable publicly traded company in the world rn. But I think Tim Cook genuinely has the same passion that Steve Jobs had for making great products. Although he may not have the same creative drive, intuitiveness and leadership skills. No. I’m gonna disagree with this video and Tim here on this one. No phone is worth $1,000+. Apple loves to overprice their products and you know it EverythingApplePro. I understand you are paid to do these things (and I’m not saying it’s bad), but facts are facts. Of course you’ll most likely get one, due to the nature of your channel, and review it hardcore (which is respectable). It isn’t just “a dollar a day,” people are gonna be paying a ton for this monthly. I pay $97+ for my iPhone Red 8 and that’s with all my discounts available to me. It’s annoying to be paying so much. I won’t be buying another iPhone until it is truly innovative. Fingerprint and Face ID in the screen, amazing camera and features, omega Siri and features, amazing storage, godly processing speed and speed overall (charging and etc.), amazing sound from the speakers, I could go on and on on how Apple should be improving instead of releasing a slightly better iPhone each year or so. Not just that. If you do manage to get water inside the phone. It cancels out the warranty. Then you have to worry about a broken phone that cost WAY too much. Replacing a battery cost somewhere around 200$. And their software is smooth but it’s not pushing its limit on the oled display and their processor. No, the iPhone x wasn't as innovative as it could've been. The iPhones older iPhones - in terms of innovation - were so much better, reinventing the entire smartphone industry. He claims that Apple has made the most innovative smartphone and that justifies a part of the price tag, but what's really innovative about a phone that is a refined version of its predeccesor. When you look at the competition at that price tag (1000$) you have Huawei P20 Pro, with a 40 MP Camera which has the best capabilities on low light situations, great software, two times the amount of RAM, greater processing power, decent available storage, great battery life and overall, a very professional product. And when you consider all these things, it makes it difficult to choose the iPhone, unless you are a die hard Apple/iOS fan. You look at what's going on at the lower-end side of the market, and Xiamoi is offering a phone, which is pretty comparable to the "High-End" products for 300$ via the Pocophone F1. Of course people are entitled to their opinion, but I think Apple can no longer justify the ridiculously high price tags with these products. Technology has advanced a lot in the last couple of years and it has become more accessible. Unless they come up with something extremely innovative and new to the market, I don't see myself spending that much on Apple, when I can find something that does pretty much the same things for a much lower price.

I allready sold my iphone 6. Android is slowing down on me after a month. Open kernel and the software is to fragile. Since the android platform is open to anyone. Every brand selling android will put their own terrible apps and such on it. I’ve used every kind of phone software on the market. Symbian os, windows mobile, android, even that horrible RAM they put in those crappy blackberries. IOS is still the best. Even though it is restricted. Those phones (and software) will last and last. Only because the software is optimized just for their phones. And besides. Nothing will ever beat the apple ecosystem. Everything you throw at it works flawless.

Let's not forget that Google made $107 billions in 2017 from their ad business. Apple doesn't run an ad business and their business model is different. Dani Londen Buddy, I agree on iOS monetization part. But, it's nowhere near to what Google is pulling out of Android. Without iOS, iPhone is a just a piece of hardware. Any product we buy will have the cost of the firmware included in it. The problem here is that Google and hundreds of OEMs have a great partnership as a competition, which is making iPhones look unreasonably expensive. Again, no denying on the expensive part. But, technically speaking, we shouldn't be comparing the Android OEMs with the iPhones. For the OEMs, What is the cost involved in developing a skin on top of Android? Google distributes Android at a fraction of the cost. For Google, all it matters is, the more they can push the android into the market, the more data they can harvest and feed their billion dollar revenue making business. What is the cost involved in running the data centers and services? (Just imagine if all these OEMs need to develop their own OS, Apps, Services, and most importantly maintain the services round the clock..I'm sure these OEMs won't be selling at the same cost) At most, these OEMs would push two Android updates to their flagships if not more, compared with Apple, which have just pushed an update for a six yr old device. I've friends who have an iPhone.5s, who thinks they can use the phone for another yr easily. Let's be honest on one part, no brand is running the business to make "ONLY" the costumer happy, that's just the byproduct of their business model. It's good that Google and hundreds of OEMs have developed a business model to produce affordable products as an option against iPhone. Competition is good!

Especially since the hardware on iPhones is just lagging behind. And I must say, I am using Android for 4 months now and it's growing on me very quickly. TBH, I have not missed IOS at all. Wich surprised me. Ofcourse the menus are much more streamlined, and I agree that the retention of value and speed of the iPhones is a big bonus. It's still a waiting game for me to see how long this OnePlus will retain it's speed. But then again, I got it with a 1 year contract that's cheaper per month then it would be with a 2 year contract with an iPhone. My.point is, if apple don't step up their game, by either, leading the pack when it comes to the technical aspect(software or hardware) or lower their prices so it's back within a justifiable range of similar devices.

in Canada, you have to pay 300$ (not including tax) and a 90$ plan for 2 years in order to get the iphone XS 64gb model. Paying a an extra 64$/month (when a base plan is 25$/month) is ridiculous no matter what phone it is. Nothing justifies the current price of the iphone. The only reason it is so high is because there’s a demand. Now, Tim cook’s math is also off because if the iphone was a dollar a day, it would cost us 730 $ at the end of the 2 year contract. Which is not the case here in Canada, since we are looking at least at 1836 $ tax not included if u decide to opt for a plan. Therefore, you would look at around 2,50$ a day. it may seem small, but for average consumer though, I’d highly doubt that people would regularly pay a 2$ coffee or some junk food on a daily basis. They might grab a coffee every now and then but they wouldn’t necessarily buy one every single day of the year. Sure, there might be some that still do it but if they have the budget for it why not? :p Anywhoos, at the end of the day, people will still buy iphones regardless of their price because it is the iphone, similar to how people spend hundreds of dollars on an offwhite hoodie or a gold plated medusa ring because it’s gucci. As for the price, I personally believe that it isn’t justified but who am I to judge people who buy them

If you are familiar with manufacturing then it's not really a question. Qualities going from, say, 5 to 8 is easy but 8 to 10? Even if you order in bulk you are going to get ripped off. The suppliers are not exactly keen on bloat-charging their clients, it's just that not many OEMs like to place big bets on the best techs for only one year and have to sell the outdated parts of their equipment then get the latest iterations. Surely Apple can cut corners where it does not matter and I personally hope they would, but there are other companies doing that fairly successfully already so there's no point competing in that pool. You may see innovations come into the world like rain, that is a BLESSING. But, note that having a new iPhone every year with a consistently better chip is ALSO A BLESSING even if the difference isn't as wonderful as you would wish for. Until another company can successfully navigate the tech manufacturing sea as well as Apple does, those prices are "unbeatable", because no true comparison can be made other than looking at the consumer behavior. You may feel inclined to think that consumers paying a lot for "the same thing" are all sheep. That's OK, but can you accept that a lot of those sheep are grateful we can earn $1,000 far more easily today than we could 10 years ago? We sheep want to spoil ourselves when we could and that is our own business.
