Having been a member on iRacing since 2009, and around 500 hours on acc in the past year, I just don’t run the gt3 on iRacing. Doesn’t matter if one is right or wrong. I find running a different car class on different sims helps reduce the problems when bouncing between the two. Nothing to compare between a gt3 car on ACC and a prototype on iRacing. I assume both are correct and move on with life.

The GT3 braking is more accurate of ACC. As Dave explained you can slam the brakes to 100% and ABS works, this is what the drivers do in real life .

Nice one, Dave. Valuable information, and exactly what I noticed, though in the opposite direction (ACC > iRacing). The curb handling at Monza in particular stood out, because it's not a subtle difference. In the end, for me, the subtle pedal dance and curb handling of iracing, combined with the solid frame timing had more relevance to real driving, so I tended to prefer it. That said, both still err in their own ways so it's really about picking the trade-off you prefer.

that's always been one of the big issues with ACC for me is those curbs and the way the tyres and suspension behaves... i have almost 2000 hours in ACC but ive never really been happy with the tyres, i refuse to believe they should behave so differently based on .5 of a psi here or there and regardless of correct pressures or not the car handles like there is zero give in the tyre wall and suspension, we just dont see cars behave like that rolling up curbs in reality unless they hit a sausage head on, it seems ACC has always had an issue with tyres and how they gradually roll onto a surface, they went over to a 5 point tyre contact point system because of that issue and it still just isn't there i dont think, regardless of the angle you take a sausage you are always hitting it like its a wall rather than the tyre gradually rolling into and over it. we just get used to it over time and think its the most realistic GT3 sim ever known to man but i think there are core underlying problems with the tyre and suspension behaviour, even the new forza motorsport is spouting about how its going to have an 8 point tyre contact patch. i think ACC is great in most areas but yeh, im surprised when something feels that amiss that the devs dont seem to care too much... maybe, maybe im wrong and GT3 cars do crash over sausages at any angle, we have all seen the tumbles cars take at monza in real life races. i will say ive been playing some AMS2 recently coming from ACC and feel like a god on track, its so controllable and the quality of the player base is very much lower, ACC does take itself more seriously and it shows in the players that play it. AMS2 does feel more realistic to me in many ways though, but only in some cars.

Those are very good points. When I first started with ACC I was banging my head on my wheel because the damn curbs would mess me up. After a while I learned how to work around those damn curbs. So now that I am used to not hit the very top of the curb I am able to enjoy ACC. But the funny thing is when I drive on iRaccing, Raceroom and AMS2 I keep thinking the curbs would mess me up. After a few laps my memory comes back. If you guys have yet to try AMS2 with the new updates you guys might want to check it out. AMS2 updates made a very awesome improvement.

I started with ACC and went to iRacing and now run both. My biggest complain about ACC is the cars feel like tanks, they’re heavy and like you said, you drive like a barbarian either 100% throttle and 75% throttle into and out of corners. Iracing you brake about 25 to 50 feet sooner than ACC in the same cars on the same tracks or you just over shoot and understeer like mad. IRacing you actually have to learn how to balance and drive cars. But the pricing is still absurd. That being said, what I love about ACC is each car feels and handles way different per track. On iRacing every car in GT3 feels the exact same and can do the exact same inputs and times. With a hair of change. I still prefer iRacing over ACC for driving. But prefer ACC for the racing on LFM. SR in ACC is a terrible grind session, SA in iRacing is much faster to get up and down. Sometimes down too fast due to idiot drivers.

man, I'm not sure you've put in much time in iracing gt3s. the cars do NOT drive the same. if you drove the lambo like you drive the merc you will die. same with the bmw/lambo. The Ferrari drives different than all of those since it's a rear engine gentlemen car. also, if you can drive all the gt3s (less the ford) to the same lap time before this week's update then you are a special driver cause no one is doing that right now. the cars are never close. there's always .5 to .7s gap between the cars at best depending on the track.

To me this just means very sim is a bit different so you have to learn the specific sims unique ways. I've never driven a real racing car and so I've no point of reference for realism. I find it funny when others like me say one sim is more realistic than another when they also have no IRL experience to go against. What they probably mean is I'm better at driving the sim I've spent the most time playing and this other sim doesn't do what I expect.

One of my good friends has done several GT3 and open wheel driving schools, and he’s also an avid sim racer. From what he’s shared with me, realism is somewhere in between iracing and ACC. iRacing emphasizes small details too much and weight transition isn’t communicated well, while ACC communicates car weight well, but is too vague and lacks detailed steering and brake feel. Tire pressure/heat simulation seems far better in ACC.
@Daz555Daz
@Daz555Daz 2 жыл бұрын
I guess the fact we have to adapt between sims shows how far the sims still have to go before we get anything like realism. The "ideal state" would be that in a blind test you would have no idea which sim you were playing and you would be able to drive the same in every sim.

As a person that’s about to get their B license once the new season comes out on iRacing, I will be eligible to race GT3 (Im not a top split racer) I love the competitiveness of iRacing even if you don’t get podium, getting safety rating gives you a sense of accomplishment What would you prefer when it comes to GT3 racing - iRacing or ACC LFM
@txalin
@txalin 2 жыл бұрын
LFM is basically iracing gt3 series with safety an performance ratings. Everyday you have +- 5 splits on european time in the afternoon from monday to friday, on weekend you could have even more, so you will race towards people of your skill level. Usually people tend to be clean, but like iracing, you could always find an idiot, and like iracing, you can report him and he will be punished and even banned. Anyway the best idea for you if you own ACC would be to register on lfm before buying anything on iracing and try it by yourself. For me (class A on oval and road) LFM has made me forget iracing gt3 series, i was a gt3 only player and i prefer the handling of acc over iracing (this is just personal preference), and with current driving standards and playerbase of LFM i don't see the point on spending so much money on iracing gt3 series.

LFM entry level time at snet is too low for most people trying to find clean racing. The irony is that this high bar for entry doesn't prevent dirty racing from happening at the lower levels of LFM. this is the unspoken truth nobody ever discusses. I had no difficulty in doing so but I don't think it's fair at all to the people who can't break 1:50.whatver at Snetterton that "nope you're not fast enough to be in our cool kids club so off to public lobbies you go". I love ACC a billion times more than iRacing but the reason iRacing "wins" is because there's a place for e v e r y o n e to find good racing

Having tried both iracing and Asseto and also having some real life racing experience I can say iRacing is a sim and Asseto is more of a video game. The physics on Asseto just makes you feel disconnected with the car, specially the front tires. That demo of how it goes over the curbs is proof that their physics isn’t quite there. It bounced like both the inside and outside tires hit the curbs unlike iracing where it allowed you to run the curbs without upsetting the car too much since you were using the curbs with the inside, unloaded tires. AC is definitely fun tho but just not quite a sim.

Imho very good video. Just small mistake, not 1% per degree, it's one pressure click, 0.1psi, 10%. And regarding kerbs .. it's not so generic in ACC. There are kerbs that cannot be cut, and some that can and should be cut (and most fast guys do) to use "whole track width"/to straighten out, and some corners that can be cut in some of cars (or classes, eg. GT4/TCX. Also in general front engined ones do better on kerbs) or in setups that are modified for better kerb eating, but some other cars shouldn't (many midengined do worse on them). Also some kerbs need to be cut for pace, but may result in one loosing tire pressure over race. Imho it should sound rather that many kerbs can be cut, except "fat sausage kerbs". Regarding kerbs there is also rain bit, that can make most of kerbs too slippery to be used.

Curbs are harder in ACC than in iRacing, but they aren't this bad as you are showing on the vid. You need to wait until your tyres are up to temperature (pressures might also have something to do with this but I'm no expert) and then you can start using them. Same thing applies with sausage curbs, for example at Imola turn 2. Avoid them until your tyres are warm (softer rubber) and then you can start going over them quite easily. Its been a while since I've raced in ACC so if I'm wrong please correct me.

When I first started driving ACC I felt like ACC actually simulates a cars weight better and really punishes a driver for trying to overdrive the car. Sort of to the point where you really start to understand the advantage of the slower in and faster out concept. I also like the tire temp variables in ACC as that is the one thing that race teams chase week in and week out in all forms of racing is matching the hot tire temps to ever changing weather and track conditions. Watching your ACC races now as compared to a month ago the transformation in improving your ACC performance has been very good. I would love to see you get in some of the leagues with Jard and the boys!

Iracing seems to be more intuitive coming from real racing, in acc you can’t feel certain aspects of what the car is doing because they have not included canned effects into the ffb, the only way to get really quick in acc is to do 100’s of laps and learn the visual cues of what the car is doing, besides for the time needed to build a good setup to be competitive, that’s why fixed setup series are so popular, especially in leagues. Besides for the handling, one thing you notice going from acc to iracing is the clarity improvement, acc is blurry no matter what settings you use and you just need to get used to it. Out of the probably 50 real life drivers that I know. 45 of them won’t touch acc again because iracing feels like you are more connected to the car and can get on pace much faster from being able to feel the limits rather than having to see them.

I have 2 points to make after spending some time in ACC after nearly a year in iRacing - The way the car behaves on curbs in ACC does not feel very true to life - you hit the curb with your left wheel yet your front right side jumps up nearly as much. Thats not how physics work, if you hit a curb with left wheel even with very stiff ARB's and stiff suspension, one side should lift much more than the other and the other should stay in contact with ground - I feel like iRacing has this implemented better. Second point to make in ACC - VR is absolutely horrendous, and I would LOVE to play it full time, but I just cannot, the visual quality of ACC that I get in VR is just not appealing and I do not wanna play the game at all. I always see you play ACC and Jardier, and I get the 'yea, lets jump into ACC, I used to had good fun in there' then I realize how terribly it performs in VR and just sadly boot iRacing again

For your point 1: It depends on the car, track, car setup and how you hit the curb. Maybe the effect is exaggerated, but for example when you go over the last chicane at Suzuka, I think the car reacts as you would expect. Or those strips at COTA at start finish line after the last corner. If you go with your left side over them, car bounces up but I don't think the whole car get thrown equally. Braking 100% into the apex is complete BS if watching onboards that includes proper telemetry (not the ones showing a full bar after half the input). This behaviour in ACC over this kind of sausage curbs is BS as well, but that doesn't mean you can clip those at Monza T1 and get away with a better delta even in a modern GT3 in iRacing. You probably hit them with the front-splitter first. iRacing is certainly the better sim of the two in terms of a tutorial for the real cars, but missing the dynamics that ACC provides better. Overall AMS2 wins by far😁

Quick note about the TC and ABS on ACC (abbreviate much? :) ) The systems are modeled after their real-life counterparts, so they vary from car to car. Generally, in EVO models you can set them higher without much loss in performance, whereas in older cars they are more aggressive/intrusive and it's better to keep them somewhat lower and modulate the pedal inputs more. Oh, and everyone should drive Aston V12 at some point, otherwise what's the point of existence :P

and your pit crew cant even sort your tyres out for you xD its a pain for beginners without motorsport engineering degrees ! i dont expect it to be arcade but for the sake of lower skilled lobbies, make cars less erratic, the tuners and/or pro drivers can still tune and be quicker. I know some basic tuning from previous games but ACC i find i more complex so harder to judge, and with the required laps to test, its far too long as each TEAM, not just car model has its own saves.. so you save a Bentley setup & jump in a different garage but same car, you have no saved tunes for it.. that becomes too tedious to just enjoy

Now I can't seem to get it going in positive track again. in fact my SR dropped to 60. needless to say my interest has all but vanished... just like my SR and other numbers. If you want to get that SR really up there quickly, you can go to an offline race with AI and crank their difficulty to a lower value and drive side by side or very close to them for maybe around 20 to 30 minutes. Longer races give you more rating. Once your rating is up there above 95 I would say (for LFM license run), then they're just numbers with no value to your experience
