For me I have short legs 30 5/8" or 78cm. I swapped out cranksets from a 172.5mm to a 170mm and set all new PR's! Then a bought some cheap 165mm crankset and again lowered all my PR's! So now I use 165's on everything! I would like to try and finds some Shimano compatible 167.mm for RR but their so hard to find and the ones I did find were $550 for 10 speed DA crankset! That is a lot money to spend to experiment with! If anybody has any recommendations for 167.5mm cranks it would be greatly appreciated!

Here's a tip for even more efficiency. Instead of a tuck how about a recline or laying down position of a recumbent. Its even more aerodynamic with perhaps better breathing resulting from the chest being less constricted by not being bent over. Time trial ,diamond frame bikes benefit greatly from the continued UCI ban on innovation!
@GodzillaGoesGaga4 жыл бұрын
It would be interesting to add some deflection plates at the end of the Aerobars. This way you'll start the slipstream before it can become turbulent. A pyramidal shape I suspect would work best.

I bliieve you noted 122 second savings with Aero bars and 56 second savings in a TT tuck position. What position was noted when using the Aero bars to save 122 seconds if the TT tuck postion saved only 56 seconds? What am I missing?

Yes in time trial, aero matters, but as a road cyclist sacrificing comfort and power for aerodynamics is pure stupidity. you don't get dropped because your stack height is 2 cm higher, but you can get dropped because you are in an uncomfortable position hindering maximum power output and optimal breathing. power always beats aero in real world situations.
@casualguy3935 жыл бұрын
TT bikes serve a very particular purpose. A TT bike on the TDF is going to get smashed, and a road bike on a relatively flat course that is only 100km is going to get smashed.

In my case, it's the opposite. I feel more secure with the additional contact points on the aero extensions. I also opt for a position where I can put out power efficiently and comfortably ,while still being as aero as possible. Though I have a triathlon frame and use it for long distance riding

TT bikes are so uncomfortable that you can't stay on them for long. Also, TT bikes aren't the best for climbing, so if you are going over any mountains a road bike is going to be faster.

TT bike is advantageous in non drafting race like an ironman or solo time trial...rb is better in drafting race coz aero is not a concern since you hide behind someone else's draft but u need to be able to manoeuvre swiftly
