The reason I started watching it, I randomly came across a clip of bandit saying he peed on his foot. After my big brother died in march I needed ways to cope and heard this was a deep show. This show has helped me cope with losing my brother

i started watching bc someone posted the sleepytime ep and said “if you only watch one episode of bluey it should be this one.” i cried of course, without really knowing why, and couldn’t stop thinking about it for a few days. since the show is based so heavily on the writers real daughters, there are so many little moments that unlock memories of me playing with my sister or my dad i had completely forgotten about. its easy to feel like a little kid again when watching, & i think some people just want media that makes them feel warm & fuzzy for a few minutes ❤

The thing with Sleepytime is theres an undercurrent which has now been confirmed. In "The Show" Bingo pretends to be pregnant with a balloon which pops and Bandit immediately reaches out and grabs a clearly distressed Chilli's hand. When they are getting rid of the Crib Chilli again tears up. Brandi her sister is inferred to not be able to have kids at all in "Onesie. There are other little references to rainbows in episodes. In "Sleepytime" Bingo hatches from the 3rd planet from the sun and Bluey has apparently hatched from the 2nd, Bingo gets to the 1st planet closest to the Sun and it is intact and nothing has hatched from it. The Sun which has Chilli's voice then says "Remember I'll always be here for you even if you cant see me ... because I love you" Which sounds like awfully sweet comforting words to Bingo but it's been confirmed that Bandit & Chilli lost a baby. Now that I know that I look at that sequence and hear those words and realise the double meaning behind them and it absolutely destroys me every time.

It’s a great show, for kids. I do find it a little odd that people without children would want to watch it, but hey, it’s full of wholesome family stories told beautifully. In our current media landscape that hates the family and loving adult and family relationships it’s a breath of fresh air. Perhaps it’s because there’s so little other wholesome grounded family shows out there that Bluey is all people have these days.

Bluey makes me feel safe. It's changed my & my boyfriend's life for the better. Instead of saying "Sit down & listen to me." it says "Let's play!" It's comforting, fun, beautiful, silly, emotional & gentle. Bluey talks to you, not at you. Bluey wants you to be happy. It teaches empathy, kindness, sympathy. Bluey is like Steven Universe, we didn't know we needed it.

I am an adult born in the early seventies. I never thought to watch a kiddie show but I kept hearing about Bluey more and more often. Now, I have run into a LOT of children's programming because I watch a lot of public television. I didn't search it out but occasionally, I'd run into it. I first looked it up on KZbin and saw clips of the show. I kind of liked it, then I found that it was on Disney+ so I began to watch full episodes. I never expected to laugh at a kids show and I think that what makes it so human is the Australian sensibility and humor. Now, Disney has whitewashed the episodes that it finds offensive and while it doesn't ruin the episode, it does hurt it a little. I mean, come on, people fart and men getting hit in the jewels is funny and they slip in some adult conversation about Bandit talking to another dog dad about not being sure that he wants any more kids around (I'm assuming vasectomy in people, neutering in dogs). if you're not sure what I am talking about in the last example, that's because it's in the original Australian episode and not in the sterilized (no pun intended) American version. (The Aussies probably think we are a bunch of prudes over here) The Disney cut (again, no pun) has Bandit talking about having his dog teeth taken out. What I am saying is that the Australian way of life is a lot more open than the US and I find that extremely refreshing and funny. Bandit is a great dad but that's because of the excellent writing by the Bluey staff. Bandit is a much better father than my real father ever thought of being. He's an exemplary character in a landscape of tv dad's being stupid buffoons. Yes, Bandit is my favorite. I would hang out with him if he was real....or I was a cartoon

Us young adults really need more comfort shows, previous generations definitely had them and now people are going to kid’s shows new and old just to get that feeling of safety. I hope we get less retrospective intense 8 season long fantasy dramas with hour long episodes and more smaller more imaginative and fun series that you can just binge watch.

idk if being funded by the abc would put it in the same vein as government propaganda. despite having a lot of talent here, australian media production is pretty small scale compared to the usa, japan, or the uk. a huge percentage of what we watch is imported, and unless you like reality tv, the vast majority of locally made shows will be government funded. so yeah, most of our locally made stuff will be an abc or sbs production
