🤨 💭 Hmmm Oooh Lord🤦‍♂️!… As a foreigner, math was extremely easy as for me in engineering & students who attended private schools… Most public schools curriculum failed the kids in the states. They don’t have a strong background to have enough confidence to go medical, finance, or engineering fields…

But now I have no debt and will retire before 50 with a few mill.

But you haven’t attained any knowledge that humanity has gained. You do not understand the science of the world around you and thus don’t comprehend the beauty in learning about it. THIS! I’ve known people who got their associates and are looking to get their bachelors without ever looking for an internship. Another problem I see is, no internship is gonna pay a livable wage, which is to be expected. So you’re having to work a job that has nothing to do with your degree just to pay off debts. Even if you do land an internship that pays decent, you can only work X amount of hours

Sadly because college is now the assumption. Back in the day, it was marriage. Since society keeps pushing this assumption that college is a must or you’ll be a failure is both sad and ridiculous. I agree with your assessment of the college system but unfortunately unless someone is going to own and operate their own business, a degree is necessary for a resume to make it past the filters applied by most companies. If a degree was only relevant classes to the major then it would be much more applicable. I am in an aviation program and have had to pay for and take a geology class. I appreciate that knowledge as necessary for interested parties but I literally couldn't care less about it. It's just a way to pump more money into the institution.

Agree! My husband has been a pilot for 35 yrs.. back then he worked at a small airport, sweeping/cleaning hangers, fueling planes, got his jet pilot mechanic cert while building hours to fly. The owner took him under his wing and taught him. He has a busy career flying private jets. He would have waisted so many hours taking various classes that didn’t pertain to flying. I went to college to become a teacher. Very few of the classes I studied in college really prepared me when I began to teach in the classroom. So much of college is BS.

no, he is correct! if you are paying for college, and do not plan to be a lawyer or doctor (or other health care professional), then an engineering, nursing, or accounting degree will give you a better shot at having a decent-paying job than a degree in sociology, art, or archaeology would. the only people who should major in a degree with low returns are those who have wealthy parents that are paying for the degree, or those who are so passionate about their field that they do not mind earning a low wage while working in their field.

Never went to college learned early own that you need to own real estate worked saved and started buying rental properties over time had enough rental properties that paid me so I just refinance one of the properties and buy another business can be a franchise anything that gives me money every month . College will never teach you that . Your money needs to make you money if you work for money you are the most taxed 😅. There are ways to make more money and pay less taxes if you have a business. But if you work and make a huge salary you are taxed MORE. You will never learn that in college 😅. There are incentives in place that help the rich and corporations. Mean while if you making a salary you are the most taxed …. Yes you have to go to college for a professional degree like doctor, and lawer but not everyone can become a doctor so stop wasting your money on useless degrees

Make money, save, and invest, and make your money work for you. Just make sure you search high demand jobs in your area of residence this is important. Then go after it. Sorry Bedros, this is not true. I have a Masters in teaching and a Masters in Counseling, my bachelors degree was where I figured out what I wanted to do and came to find a job I love where I have worked for 35 years and still love it!!! College educated people make over $100,000 more dollars over their careers than HS educated and this is based on old data. Professors have studied and have work experience making them experts in their fields. It’s very dismissive and misleading to insinuate that they have nothing to offer to students. You convey information with your words, just like they do. You speak from your heart and your experience, just like they do. Let’s be a little more fair and balanced about the educational system. I’m in agreement that it is way overpriced. Let’s vote for political leaders who are working to amend that rather than demonizing the entire educational system and judging professors enmasse. I love your wisdom Bedros, but here you are wrong!

Do it. Get your education in an in demand field. Even if you start business, you are in a great position. Some of my best and loyal customers are my coworkers because they have DISPOSABLE INCOME. Starting a business around people who are struggling or underemployed makes things difficult. That's the part no one discussed. True student loans can be a problem, but it is NOTHING compared to housing and job insecurity people with only a HS diploma has.

It's actually worse than that because you need to take into account the opportunity cost of not working for those however many years you're in college which most people take five or six years to get a 4-year degree So even at a modest $40,000 per year opportunity cost That is still at least $160,000 right there in lost income if not more In addition you also need to look at the opportunity cost of the debt that you take out and what else you can do with that money.
