I agree 100%, the man who is making the top should be making the patterns, or at least be there so he knows what they are doing. The way Chad is doing it, I would be shocked if it fits the first try, I am guessing the old guy will have to adjust it 3 or 4 times before it fits right.

The tension is thick enough to cut. I know Chad's type, had a friend act the same way. Seething on the inside because he can't just do what he wants, his play acting "nice" is just to appease his viewers, no intent to change. And like any person with his personality, he will say anything to get people off his back, so many times this has happened. Just in the last few episodes, he bought real welding rods because of all the comments, and the next day, he said he would be going back to coat hangers. And most all watchers know it was bs that he would take weekends off for Jolene. He will, and always, will do exactly what HE wants. You can see on Jolene's face the hope he would be more of a partner and respect her and the relationship. She is sad that nothing will most likely change. And yes, the tagline was click bate of a sort. Many have been. That's how KZbin works. In the end, both have to be happy, and that time seems to have passed.

I have seen a few other Carson Tops on KZbin channels, on Hot Rods usually. They were fabricated with light weight 3/4 inch diameter Aluminum tubing for the frame. Basically its a Upholstered Fabric top, on a light frame, so I am looking forward to seeing how your wood frame Carson Top turns out. Good Luck !

Well that's why in the real world we as designers / engineers put it down on paper in drawings , plans, and lists - so others know how to implement a design. This wood top is going to be a way bigger project than he thinks. He doesn’t know how to build anything in wood. What he’s going to have with the measurements he’s saying will weigh a ton. It will never be taken off if ever gets finished. Good evening Chad, Jolene, and Fina. For a car channel that is dedicated to customizing cars on a budget (and yes, coat hangers are acceptable) it amazes me as to how many marriage counselors watch. I really don't know how many of them know much about cars but apparently they're experts on relationships. My wife and I are coming up on our 54th Wedding anniversary at the end of January. We have basically nothing in common except 2 children, 3 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. We don't like the same foods, movies, sports, and we disagree a lot but you know what? It works. Now that you have cut out the template, you should add half an inch to the out side edge . Turn it over and router out a a groove, so when you place it on the car the edge with the leather stapled to it fits into that groove , cut it deep enough so the leather trim sits way up in side the frame your making , same thing over the door windows , so you will have 100% water tight and know wind noise. Other wise if you just sit it straight on top of the leather trim it will look silly, it will leak and the wind noise will be insane.. ps . Jolene cheer up girl life is hard when your feeling down , take some time for yourself , hopefully you can work out your problems with Chad.. 😊

The only reason I say anything negative is in response to Chad's narcissist he's better than anyone else and know matter what anyone says to him he tells everyone there wrong and I lost total respect for him when he laughed at that handicap boy at the car show. I totally respect the work he's done, but I guarantee you you could have the best in the world trying to show him something, and he would tell him he's wrong. Honestly, does it really matter what anyone says, because chad doesn't think he needs to change. This is exactly why he will always have relationship issues.

Part of it but It's more like she's trying to figure out if she want's to continue with this or move on. There's a lot to sort out business wise and her Mother just passing makes it a lot harder for her. In the end she will figure it out and hopefully have a happy life with a partner that respects her. I think she is stuck right now, it's actually sad to see.

I lived not to far from where they made the carson tops originally and they used chicken wire and canvas and a heavy wire frame with small tubing not wood . But wood will work but it will be on the heavy side . Not only that the door windows need to be cut down too in order to fit the A pillar correctly.

They need this channel as it’s their only source of a steady income. They were together for awhile before the you tube channel and struggled but building the Bugatti got people interested and advertisers interested if this nonsense keeps up the advertisers will leave and Chad will have to start selling his vehicles. I doubt they have any legal paperwork and Jolene will only have what has been given to her. Unfortunately she needs to continue she’s strong enough to put up with the misery. Hopefully if she has close friends they will rescue her but she has to want to be rescued.

May have been faster/easier to have built a buck/armature out of 1/4” mild steel bar stock. Wire lightweight expanded aluminum to it and mud it with 50:50 drywall taping compound and vermiculite. Really easy to rasp and sand to shape. Fritz Schenk does that, brushes on 3 coats of gloss latex and uses it as a mold plug.

Well, some of Chad’s methods may, at times, seem a bit crude but they are pretty effective. He bought an English Wheel but rarely uses it because he applies his own methods. Don’t get me wrong. I love watching the highly skilled panel beaters like Wray Schelin, Runge, Lazze, Make-it-Kustom/Japhands, Casey’s Customs, Invision Design, etc. however, Chad is pretty good at shortcuts to a similar end. Take note of the sections/gores on the aft end of the Texaco Hauler. No English wheeling but Chad wound up with some compound curvature. Pretty awesome! Like Wray Schelin says, “Metal is Clay” and Chad obviously recognizes this. When I was a kid (72’) I bought a box of hot rodding mags from the 50s. While not to everyone’s tastes, a lot of Chad’s styling cues are Old School, as displayed in magazines of that time. I just enjoy watching his process and I don’t mind seeing him workaround mistakes. I have used Premiere and After Effects for years and recognize how much work Jolene puts into editing and I appreciate the effort. Remember American Chopper and American Hotrod? Lots of bickering, commercials, and almost none of the actual process.
