In a nutshell: 1. Set a goal you want for yourself. 2. Imagine the result when you will be successful 3. Also imagine the small steps that will mark your improvement. 4. Imagine your failure if you don’t reach that goal. 5. Reward yourself for your efforts with something you enjoy.

Dude this helped me so much for real. I just stopped gaming but still had no motivation to do the things i wanted to do, but after watching this video and setting concrete goals (as in "im going to finish this book and learn every concept so that i get an A") as well as the things i want to avoid (having to tell my parents "i didnt get accepted" to the college i want to get into) i felt a bit of motivation return to me! I love these types of videos!

Wow, I am doing those things you said. You know, I was so lazy at college but so productive at my work. I wonder why is that. Now I have realized that in comparison, for my work I have a clear view of what I want to achieve from it and what if I fail to do it properly. While I was doing college because my parents told me to go and I just follow that direction. I need to make this trick for my already 6 years running-college as well so I have at least the motivation to finish it and not waste my parents' money and my time. Great vid mate.

I feel like overthinking is a good demotivator. It feels like we know too much about ourselves and knowing certain things interrupts the natural reactions to circumstance our brain has because it causes us to think more about the problem or solution. But never allowing us to take action. But that's might just be me lol.

Bro, smthg to beat laziness... Coz I make my goals and work toward them for a while, then just lose focus and binge watch some anime or play a new game instead. I know it's wasting my time, but it's like some sort of monster addiction.

This is a whole lot easier to comprehend than "having to do a preplanned sequence of actions to escape from the unbearable present to the ideal future, embodying the hero archetype and ascending the dominance hierarchy" :) Not to say those ideas are bad or anything, but they're not very easy to spread

I think I'm demotivated and this video doesn't really help but fix my problem til I reach a point in time where I the perfect example for this video.. I have no one to talk to in the outside world, no friends to call or chat with or like real people who you want to be able to express your interests and emotions in your every morning and moment.... I mean... I have summer projects I have to be doing but I just can't do it.. Idk why.. But I feel really lonely and bummed out since my dad is also workin' as a nurse in a place where I can't see him sleep and tell us 'GOODNIGHT'... maybe a little too old till I hear him again....?

It makes sense, but its often times a lot simpler. Eating is a goal that gives you pleasure. Studying doesn't give you pleasure - it's a LONG TERM goal that might give pleasure in the future. You function because of pleasure. Physical: avoid things that cause pain and do things that give you pleasure (which is why drugs are addictive). Psychological: avoid emotional pain (if impossible: negative feedback loop --> depression) and do things that are pleasurable. A long term, rather grey goal as ''career building'' just isn't as palpable as, say, playing a short-term pleasurable videogame. What can you do? Well not a lot. But you can, for example, condition yourself: give yourself a SHORT TERM pleasure afterwards. Like studying, and afterwards drink a starbucks coffee (ONLY IF YOU COMPLETE IT, you can't drink it without doing the activity). Now you make your goal short term, and therefor more palpable. Also, going to the library helps make it more easily mentally digestable too. Good luck.
@shenkeey6 жыл бұрын
The idea in the video is good, and also correct. But it doesn't touch upon the fact that cognition isn't as powerful as limbic activity. You're FIRST emotional, and AFTERWARDS explain why you're emotional. That's why its better to change emotional behavior (which isn't long term) first and AFTERWARDS really drill it in with the idea in the video.

I don't wanna do the negative visualization thing. I thing you shouldn't live in the fear of what could be just to "force yourself up" to do something. I don't wanna be like that. Instead I would just like to work because I have a goal and want to fulfill it..

Kamikan 22 - Hue hue ;-D. Well... I said to myself: Imagine you move on in the internet and by chance you miss the most valuable information of your life. I imagined then, if I make the effort to stay, how my life would improve, and my health and the whole environment surrounding me. And then, then I pushed the mute button and sought the subtitles. And the rest is history... The world is now a better place because of my effort to imagine the positive outcome :-), exactly like the video predicted ;-).

School is what takes away your motivation to achieve anything because years of coercion and having no control over your life kills your desire to learn and you're taught at a very early age that life in general is arduous, disappointing, and miserable. The only 'goals' were getting excellent grades, which in retrospect mean absolutely nothing in the long run. You are taught to fear failure because that's always closely associated with punishment, persecution and humiliation. Oh as far as working out, whether you lose weight or not...you still die.
