Thank you, Steve. Years ago, I stumbled across Gregory Peck's grave, while visiting LA for jury duty. Fortunately I didn't get picked and decided to tour the area. What a wonderful surprise to come across his final resting place, next to his wife, Veronique. Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels is absolutely gorgeous! Many thanks for the tour. Off topic - I recently came across an article about Beverly Garland's home (Barbara - My Three Sons) in Palm Springs/Indian Wells that is now a landmark, 75-900 Fairway Drive. Desert Sun has an article about it. Beverly was not only a wonderful actress but she was a tourist ambassador for North Hollywood, owning the Garland Hotel, which is still run by family members.

They still have some bookstores here and there. But you probably won't run into anyone famous there. You're more likely to run into someone in a Starbucks. A co-worker pointed out to someone I know that she was making the drink for Robert Duvall's wife. He was there, too. I just checked and I found it interesting that Robert Duvall was in To kill a Mockingbird as well, he played the part of Boo Radley.

My mother who recently passed used to put me down for a nap just a few minutes before her "story" came on and I always fell asleep in another room to the opening music. June Marlowe is my wife’s great grandmother. As stated by someone else, she was originally buried at another cemetery. A fan of hers somehow finagled having her remains exhumed and reinterred at the cathedral mausoleum. Nobody in the family remembers anyone being contacted to give permission.

Yes, very true! I was born here and have been to bunches of the lesser known or seen graveyards and mausoleums in the greater Los Angeles area. Grandma taught us a lot of things along the way and always took us for lunch at some wonderful places.

Thank you Steve - this was so well done! "As The World Turns" was a favorite soap opera of my mom's for decades. It aired "live" and on November 22, 1963 the first news bulletins interrupted the show to report that President John Kennedy had been shot in Dallas, Texas. Helen Wagner (Nancy) was doing a scene with "Grandpa Hughes" (Santos Ortega) when the first bulletin came in. She was asked about this many times in the years after that sad day. For those who might be interested, KZbin has ATWT from that day showing the opening scenes before the first interruption, about 10 minutes into the program. Truly historic!

Then I heard a singer I was a fan of, that told a fan leave me alone I'm eating dinner and an actor who told a fan why would you collect an autograph it's just a piece of paper, it's stupid! To this day I can't listen to that singer knowing that she crushed someone. And I'm afraid to ask for any autographs for fear my idol would think I'm stupid and that would crush me. I understand they're humans, they put their pants on one leg at a time like anyone else but on another note as an example at Disneyland I get so excited to see Mickey Mouse even to this day and yet I'm an adult I realize there's a human in there probably a girl since the costume is short but I don't think about the cast member in the costume I see the character. No insult to the girl but I'd still like Mickey Mouse's autograph, I guess that sounds stupid.

Stunning mausoleum. I can believe how quite it is. It must have outstanding soundproofing. Great tribute

Unless I misunderstood, the mausoleum is below ground. It looks to be all marble. Both would make it the surroundings..... Quiet as a grave.

Excellent. Need to go visit this cathedral. Also, the fact that several of my family members worked in the construction of the cathedral. Proud of them. Especially with your reports. I consider them stars, too. Rest in peace!

It must have been an honor for your family members to be a part of this Hortencia. I hope you get to visit. 👍

Very well done video. Roman Catholics do an inspired job of bringing heaven to earth in the spaces they construct. You do an inspired job by your writing, videography and narration. I am unlikely to travel to these places, so thank you for bringing them to me.

They do an even better job of bringing millions of illegal immigrants into the state as well as others. An inspired agenda?

Hello! Yes I have visited Gregory Peck's grave at Our Lady of the Angels. My family and I took a tour at the mausoleum. I remember watching Gregory Peck in To Kill A Mockingbird in high school and my Mom would always remind me that Gregory Peck and I share the same birthday. I didn't believe my Mom at first but when I saw his grave then I believed her. It is such an honor to share the same birthday with a legendary actor. 😊❤

Beautiful place - it definitely does not have a cemetery vibe to it-when i first saw it i thought hospital/office building/college-high school. But the mausoleum definitely has a peaceful ambiance about it. Too bad about the freeway but maybe its more convenient to visitors that way.

Hi Steve, Helen was live on the air (as soaps were back then), in the middle of her scene, as CBS went to the breaking bulletin about JFK. Just thought I'd share this info. Your videos are so enjoyable.
