When Jack Frost awakens and rises out of the icy lake he was dormant within he knew very little about who he was. The Man in the Moon told him his name and he quickly discovered his magical ice abilities, but who he fundamentally was could not be understood. For hundreds of years, he couldn’t recall his purpose and didn’t even realize he had a life before being Jack Frost. For some reason the memories of his prior life, which established who he was, were lost even though all of the other Guardians minds remained in tact through their transformation. What was so different about Jack’s life or evolution that made him forget?

I hope you have fun on your trip! Toy Story Land is super cool looking, and you can see some of what they are building of galaxy's edge (the star wars area). Also there's a cool museum, of sorts, in Hollywood Studios about Disney animation and the creation of the parks.

The Dreamworks movie is completely different than the books! They are not to be combined. They are two different universes! The author, William Joyce, has said this multiple times. That's why everyone is getting confused.

Thxs for pointing that out cause there were some parts that I was confused about like the serpent and the lake. The movie didn't show any serpent. So let me see if I understood this, in the movie , Jack Frost was once human and then became a guardian meanwhile in the book he was actually a nightlight then became Jack Frost.

I think we need more on Jack's memories. For example, he got his memories back from when he was human, but if he just showed up out of no where and the family welcomed him, where did the teeth even come from? And why do we only see the sister in the movie?

Through all of this, how did the Guardians or Katherine not recognize Nightlight’s slow transformation into Jack Frost??? The guardians don’t seem to recognize Jack as anything aside from a mischievous winter spirit. Tooth even mentioned having Jack’s human teeth.

I personally prefer the movie version of events when it comes to Jack. There's something so simple and yet so powerful about a brother saving his sister and dying in the attempt. It's a huge impact and something that I could easily see happening in real-world events. Having this whole complex thing with him remembering who/what he was and having his powers to me just...blows it all out of proportion? Why couldn't he have completely forgotten everything already? Lost his powers, truly become human? I love the books, but I think this was done poorly, and Joyce (yes I know the universes are different) could have kept this defining moment the same.

Agree completely! The idea of night light is better for a separate character. Maybe Jack could in a way be connected to Night Light but not the same person. I much prefer the idea that Jack was just a regular human who became a winter spirit snd gaurdian through his sacrifice. So much more meaningful

It strikes me as amazingly tragic that Jack gave up EVERYTHING to be human...and had that taken away before he, let alone his adopted siblings, could grow up much at all. How little time he would have had for his reward even if he'd had a full life, compared to his immortal existence before. And even that was cut short, taken away. His poor family, too, to lose him so soon after adopting him. To have just enough time to come to love him, only to lose him. His selfless sacrifice wasn't so selfless as he thought; did he really not realize the pain he'd cause them? Losing his siblings would have devastated them; losing him surely did, too. It's little wonder he still had so much to learn in wisdom, even leaving aside lack of knowledge, even after re-awakening.

The DreamWorks movie is a possible future of a book series that wasn't anywhere near over when the movie was made. And the author only decided to make Jack Frost a thing in his books after he saw the popularity of the character in the movie. In other words, as amazing as the books are, the DreamWorks movie wasn't TRYING to be the books. It's just a potential future to a story that is still being molded and changing, depending on the author's whims. Similar to Game of Thrones. Dont look down on what we have, just because you feel it could have been better. For when it was made and what it is, its phenomenal.

DreamWorks is also unsure if they want to pursue more movies. ROTG is seen as a cursed movie because it was the first in a series of movies produced that year that flopped. Although the DVD sold more than any of those other movies they are reluctant to pursue more movies. They intended to eventually get into the books through more movies but because the box office flopped and other movies followed this possibility make take a bit. William Joyce, the writer of the books and for those who remember the show, Rolli-Polli-Olli, has been in a constant negotiation last I heard but I'm not up to date. The cult following is larger than it was and to be honest the movies that flopped, ROTG included, deserved better advertising. I only knew about it because I didn't skip over the KZbin ad at the time. Jack Frost didn't become a character until William Joyce realized the popularity and potential as well as how people compared him to Nightlight. People wanted a book so it could be canon and he obliged and it was released a few months ago. He is pursuing, at the minimum, a TV show because of the cult following. This is all I know thus far but, I'm sure there is more info by now.

Because there are a ton of books that have their own idea of the Guardians plus Jack Frost/Nightlight. For example: The one i heard was that Nightlight was MIM's (Man In the Moon) caretaker and when MIM's parents perished by the hands of Pitch, Nightlight drew a diamond sword to Pitch's heart and both of them were sent to the darkest caves of the earth. Idk abt wat happened to Pitch Black but, when MIM finally became an adult, he finally found Nightlight (now Jack Frost) trapped in a frozen lake and brought him back to life. Although he was alive, he did not remember his past life. There are also many different legends, myths, etc. depicting Jack Frost as an immortal, never aging, boy, with snow/ice powers.

Yeah, that's not scientific enough for me. This is my theory. In the film, when Jack fell through the ice and died, his neurons froze, causing his memories to freeze with his brain. When the man in the moon brought him back to life, his brain thawed but his memories stayed frozen. *I hope this made sense to you* Plz reply to me. No one ever does 😭

I think you're on the right track, but not quite there: when someone drowns, their brain is deprived of oxygen, which can then cause damage to the brain. I think Jack suffers brain damage due to drowning as a human boy, which effected his memory. Much less magical than frozen memories but the most likely cause in my opinion :(

I'm not sure I'd put him as a Slytherin, as the main defining trait of Slytherins is ambition, which he doesn't show much of. Thinking about it, I personally would place him as a Gryffindor, and not just because he's a hero. When you get down to it, the very center of his being as a Guardian is Fun, literally laughing in the face of fear, which I consider to be almost synonymous with Bravery.

Well I have a theory for that= No.1-Elsa is the Fifth Spirit And Jack Frost is Fifth Guardian. No.2-They both have Sisters and their name is Anna (Which they love the most). No.3-They both wanted there past memories. No.4-Their both enemy is Fear. No.5-They are both Ice Users. No.6-They Both have Four Letter names Like =J-A-C-K and E-L-S-A No.7-Jack should be call Spirit because You can't see him until you believe in him and Elsa Should be called Guardian because she take care of the elements in Enchanted Forest. No.?-They are Single.........But I won't count that. No.8-They are both legends such as Elsa is the Ice Queen and Jack Frost is.......... Someone in the comments said that the creators stated that the books and movie are within separate universes. Going off of that, I always believed that (in the movie) because the rest of the Guardians were always magical creatures, they never lost their memories. But because Jack was previously a human before dying, his transformation caused him to lose his.

My question has always been: how ong was jack under the ice? Like Isaac said, by the time Jack came out of the ice, it had already frozen over. His family wasn't there. There was no one mourning his "death". So how long had he be supposedly "dead"?

I want to read William Joyce's books so much. They seem so interesting, I've always been in love with the characters ever since I watched the movie when I was younger and I want to know the full story of each of them. I can't though. I know it might be hard to wait, but you know the old saying, "patience is a virtue". I'm almost 36 myself, and sometimes I still have a hard time with patience. I dunno how old you are, but sometimes the only thing you can do in some situations, especially with things you want, you have no other choice but to wait. It sucks, but you gotta learn, that's just life, and just how it goes.

I get that the books and movie are different universes, but I’d still like a video for the movie. Cause some of this doesn’t translate over. And I love the movie. Even just some speculating on how the movie verse might be similar to the books off screen. Was Jack found by his family? Was he reborn? His baby teeth? His frost powers?

I'm guessing the powers they have is determined by how they died . Jackfrost drowned by frozen Lake . Sandman suffocated by sand. Bunny suffocated by earth: so potentially a miner Santa. Maybe died in a factory accident. Tooth fairy maybe attacked by wild animals so died by wolf fangs

I'm not sure if its been said, but I really hope Jack gets all his memories back. I haven't read the last 2 books, but I really hoped, through the other books, that Kathrine and Nightlight would eventually get together. I think having him get all his memories back and finding Kathrine again would bring the story full circle, and let him know who and what he truly is now that he's not a human yet not a night light either. This with him keeping his fun-loving and courageous nature, because that's some of the reasons why Kathrine loved him.
