Good overview, but you failed to mention that Jisoo's 2023 album holds the all-time record for sales by a female Kpop Idol (yep, more than her fellow members or any other female kpop idol). You also failed to mention that her Flower music video (a song in that album) had almost twice as many views than ANY other music video released in 2023 by a Kpop or Jpop act (male or female, group or solo). Bottom line, she was the most successful and most popular vocalist in Kpop in 2023 (being number 1 in Brand Ranking most of the year). Not to mention that she is one of the most high in demand award winning Lead Dramatic Actresses today. And you also didn't mention that Jisoo has never complained about having the least lines and least face time on Blackpink videos. All she says is "for a group to be successful, everyone must accept their role." She didn't care that she was the last to solo, while the 3 other members were very eager. Her main concern is that she not let the group down in their performances. And by all accounts, she is the most financially successful member, since she is one of the highest paid brand ambassadors in the world and a high earner as a Lead Actress. And BTW, I am a Lisa bias, but I still love Jisoo (and Jennie and Rose).

There is no "Better" to me. As an Hobby-Singer myself i study vocals and vocalchords a lot! And Jisoo has a really unique and special Vocal Type. that differs very much from Lisa's or Rosé's! Her voice is soft slightly airy but very deep which is pretty rare for a petite Korean Woman! There are a lot of songs id like to see her singing and i would also love to see her sing acoustic more! Its sad that there wasnt much opportunity for her to sing and showcase!

That has a lot to do with the company she belongs to and how popular she is. In 2023 , blackpink has no works and every blink overlooked to see jisoo's solo project because it was obviously the last work from the last person remaining. And the fandom is so huge. The streaming was heavily done.

I agree if she would have been in a agency that had focused on Korea she would have been VERY popular there, but not internationally! (And I probably would have never found her 🥲) I think YG didn’t think it was necessary to promote her, because she would make the least profit. She is not more talented than her band member, does not fit the international beauty standards as much as her members, doesn’t have the aura and cannot speak English, all that attracts the international fans who YG wants to have. Jisoo’s and Rose’s vocals were meant to mix and work well with each other and in their first few years the producers did this well, keeping Jenny and Lisa’s vocals separate. Later in things started getting muddled and Jisoo’s vocal parts started showing up in different parts and seemed out of place and not as long as the rest of the groups.

The reason why Jisoo sings less than her fellow member is insanely abvious. BP are rap based group, so most lines will go to rap line, which consists of Jennie and Lisa. Then, theres time for vocal line, aka Rosé, Jisoo and Jennie. Rosé will get more vocal parts than Jisoo because she is MAIN vocalist, while Jisoo is LEAD. Jennie has more lines than Jisoo because Jennie is both main rapper and lead vocalist, so she will get both rap lines and some vocal lines. Rosé will have more because she is their best vocalist, so most vocal parts of vocal based songs will go to her. Lisa has more because BP is rap based and she is lead rapper. Its as easy as that. Jisoo usually gets better outfits and more eye-catching mv parts as she is the visual + vocal parts. Also its not like bp's lines dist is bad. Its one of the most fair.

There is something so refreshing about her and I feel like I may lean more to her because I see myself as more mature and I'm the oldest out of four sisters😅 She is so classy, elegant and timeless. She isn't forcing an image, she is doing what feels natural to her. My opinion is, it isn't like Jisoo is a bad vocal but she just like Rosé wasn't lucky for being YG. Yg basically has been traditionally a company that placed more emphasis on their rappers instead of their vocalists, hence why most people find blackpink vocal lines less interesting than their rapping. Also there's the fact YG has been always pushing Jennie - and later Lisa more - once they realized they were the fan favorites. Unfortunately adding to this, the truth is, Jisoo also has the less interesting vocal color amongst the members, though she's not bad, I can remember several female idols who sound almost as same her compared to Jennie, Lisa and Rosé who really do have voices that stand out. And lastly, Jisoo always stroked me as the member who had the least interest in music. I love her, I think she's beautiful, talented and that she deserves the absolute best, but her solo was a huge mess. Flower sounded like a target version of Jennie's solo. I feel like music-wise Jisoo doesn't have her own identity yet, it's possible that in the future she will find her place as musician but I honestly think that she's much better actress than she's a musician.

A huge part of it honestly is just that their songs have so much english, even though it's K-pop, and Jisoo isn't as strong with English. Even when I sing songs in my mother tongue, instead of english, it's much harder to master and have them sound as nice. I'd rather sing in English, because it's easier for everything to go well together. They really should have done more Korean songs, and more music releases in general.

Jisoo and Rose together is clearly what they were going for. They are both angelic and have different tones. One a bit higher and one a bit lower. This combination compliments each other. This would be like saying how come the bass guitar doesn't play as much as the lead guitar. Really the bass is always there and make everything that much richer sounding.

Vocal-wise, I wouldn't call her underwhelming or mid cuz it was more of misalignment between the BP music concept and her unique husky nasally tonality. She's decently capable if given the appropriate music type and able to utilize her ability to a tee. I would actually point at her lower flexibility & fluidity in choreography compared to her band mates; hey, some of us just aren't born contortionists😅 Overall, I'd say she's a pretty good overall idol and she's a very successful person in general. It's not only a matter of the vocal line of Blackpink, but she also doesn't fit 100% into the swag. Her entire presence seems more like a princess, than a badass. I used to be so mad about the line distribution as her vocals were my favs, I even hoped that YG will let her rap, but let's be honest... it's just not her. All these theories will be debunked when she releases music under her own label. Only then we will see what she can do, because she will have total freedom, she can write songs if she wants, she can show her range or not, and so on. The interesting thing is how will BP music change after this very big gap/solo time. I really hate this comparison to the other members, all of them are so different and just look at all the music they released this year, they are all experimenting but it's enough to see the difference in what they like: Lisa released a bit of everything, Jennie seems to be on the path of defining her style, Rose went full Taylor Swift. They will release full length albums, we will have a lot of new music to listen to, and next year they will give us probably 8 new BP songs 🤣It's a great time to be a blink.

Funny enough there is exactly one song were Jisoo has the most lines, and it's the only song that Teddy (the main Producer of Blackpink and 2NE1) isn't involved at all, don't remember which song that was though. Also I believe that Jisoo's main contribution to blackpink, isn't her singing ability or her looks I believe it to be her personality that really well compliements her group mates, without her the other three are very skilled and talented artist Lisa in dancing and rapping, jennie in rapping and singing and rosé in singing and dancing, but with her they become blackpink, she also adds a lot of the humor to the group if you watch any content of the 4 outside of their songs

can we address the fact that "barely sang in blackpink" is an insane thing to say when she literally has a good fourth of all the lines in blackpink? even if it's not an exact 1/4th it's definitely not less than 20% of the lines. she sang all the time. blackpink had one of the most equal line distributions in kpop. it's completely unrealistic to expect each member to have a perfect 25% on each song. in bp they all got a similar amount of lines and this was balanced with all their very distinct tones. yall need to go listen to freaking loona songs with vivi getting 2 seconds of yeahs to learn what people actually not singing in their group sounds like

BLACKPINK my ult girl group. So no hate here. Jisoo got a lead vocal position because they had to give her something. They couldn’t put her as a main rapper because she does not rap at all. Couldn’t put her as the main dancer either or the main vocalist. So she’s “lead vocalist”. And she relies on her visuals BECAUSE SHE IS THE VISUAL OF THE GROUP???? She’s not a terrible singer but she’s not a strong vocalist. She’s very good as the unofficial leader of group, has really good stage presence, and is talent at acting. You're emphasizing Jisoo being lead vocalist but in kpop MAIN is what you're using lead as. There's typically 1 main dancer/vocalist/rapper etc while all the other singers will be "lead vocalist" and members that sing just a little bit might get sub-vocalist.
