I gave up my college soccer career to become a heroin addict when i was 22. It's been a long(almost)15 years since then. I've been a trainer for almost 5 months. Almost every day for the first month, I woke up wondering what the hell I was thinking, trying to train people. This was my best week so far by a long shot. I haven't been making enough money yet to pursue any new certs on top of the basic CPT, but I think that's about to change. You guys have taught me more than I learned from NASM, and I wouldn't have the clients that I have now if it wasn't for Mind Pump!

Amazing, congratulations on that

That’s wonderful. Congratulations! . You could specialize in helping people turn their life around like you did. You could even compare heroin to sugar as far as how addictive they both are. You could help with any kinds of addictions

I remember being fearful and full of anxiety about something bad happening to my children. I finally decided to trust God. I prayed for their safety and decided to trust that God loved them even more than me and that no matter what happened, He would provide the grace I need through Jesus. Not that I never was anxious again, but I would turn it over to Him each time.

Please let me win one time!! Solid podcast thanks for the info. I started that new workout app and the volume out the gate is high. I went from one set to failure to that and my recovery is certainly feeling impacted. This is perfect to balance along with some movement in the schedule. A 15-30 min workout with cardio, swim, stretch in a weekly rotation is actually workable.

To chime in on what the guys are saying regarding the Twilight Zone series, yes the original one from the '50s is extremely and highly recommended for all those who keep an eye on the news/ question what's happening behind the curtains/conspiracy theories, etc . Rod Serling was a clairvoyant writer with those early seasons of TW. Many episodes reflect in what has been happening in recent times . The first two seasons are very long, nearly 30 episodes each! But so damn good ⚡ I rewatched all of them on the Amazon Freeve app channel . I'm sure it can be fun other platforms, too.

Come July and August I’ll probably only be doing light workouts to maintain during peak riding season. At least I keep telling myself I’ll do this one year. I always end up just riding and neglect my lifting, but what can I say when I’m riding 300 miles a week?🤷🏿♂️

Another great episode! My degree probably has a similar ROI compared to biology degrees. I have an environmental science degree and a lot of the jobs overlap with biology jobs, pay poorly or are seasonal, and have very little turnover in the higher paying positions. On the topic of environmental science, past temperatures are calculated using proxies. These include ice cores and the ratio of oxygen isotopes, tree rings, borehole, lake and ocean sediments, and a few others. All of these proxies are calibrated against independent temperature measurements and then used to calculate past temperatures!

So I'm honestly surprised that he gets that worn out from 2-3x per week in tandem with just two full body lifting workouts. He may actually do well adding in some zone 2 max incline treadmill walking (not holding on) for 20-30 min after he lifts to build up a bit more work capacity and general fitness.

To add, regarding research papers and subsequent alarmist headlines ("warmest for 2000 years"), funding requests for research is often much more successful if the researcher has something alarmist or on-trend in the title of the proposed research. E.g. something on gender divide (usually how bad men treat women etc); AI; climate change etc are pretty much guaranteed funding no matter how stupid it might be....and the more alarmist the better since it is then more likely to capture the news headlines and therefore advertise the research institute/university.
