There's a fine line between children expressing emotions and being ruled by emotion. My daughter, who was a high school record swimmer, during her senior ceremony, cited her father telling her, "Try, don't cry" as the life lesson that impacted her the most. She spoke to how that helped her focus and try harder rather than let her feelings rule her.

Also, cardio has been my main focus for fat loss and again- completely changed the way I look at lifting and all the benefits. Seriously, love the show and thank you for sharing all your knowledge! And thank you for not being afraid to say PRAY! Prayer works and more people in the influencer community needs to speak about it. Look forward to new episodes everyday 🎉

Thank you for your advice to caller #3. I never tire of hearing reminders that less is more, and loving yourself with consistent sleep and recovery will bring positive and progressive benefits in every aspect of life. No longer punishing myself with busy-ness, over training and lack of nutrition has changed my life. ❤

Wondering if you guys could give some information about that study you mentioned briefly about women not being able to bond with a partner after having multiple sexual partners. I am 42, single, not bad looking, health, conscious, and no kids. I am losing hope that I’ll ever find somebody that I can bond with again. In my 20s I had a couple relationships and one long-term, 12 years, where I was able to grow deep bonds with these people, but now I cannot find a partner it seems. I am saddened by this as I’ve done work on myself with attachment styles, and personal childhood trauma. I am hoping if I can get the study information from you guys I could help myself. Thank you for doing what you do by the way, I’ve been listening to you guys for about six months… I know, I know..I need to get a program… I’ve been, working my way into weightlifting and I think it’s about time. Thanks again guys. Cheers!

Hey, Adam. One thing I think really worked for us with our daughter was to not express any concern and do very little. I would say. “Yeah, that hurts!” And try to get on with the activity. She would eventually, in a matter of minutes, take it in and brush it off. Of course we were very mindful of the type of injury too, wouldn’t do that to a more serious situation. But it really worked. She’s really good at managing her emotions and reactions. Hard to explain in the comment section, but it’s like we let her feel the pain, feel safe and not trying to make things better. Just let them be.

The reason why the percentage is so high on arranged marriages being so successful is because it usually happens in cultures where women just can't leave. It's fround upon and they end up very miserable. I am Middle Eastern, so I have seen this first hand. The men can do as they please and the women that end up in these situations are usually uneducated, nieve and easily manipulated. I'm not saying in all cases, but a large chunk of that number has to do with the fact that they are just still married with no way out. Fear of disappointing parents, fear of being judged or shunned. It's the sad truth.

For the first caller, I echo the reverse sled suggestion. If no access to a sled, walking backwards on an incline also works great. In addition, hamstring bridges with feet on the ball can help clean up the knee tracking by stabilizing tibial/femur angle. Stationary lunges with minimal load will also help nervously system adapt to single leg exercises- sometimes pain is a safety mechanism and even when the tissue heals, your body needs reassurance that the pattern is safe. Great advice guys overall guys! Corrective exercise is my gig and knees are a specialty, and you were spot on! Would love to come on sometime and talk about knee replacement recovery - I’ve had two (genetics + accident), and have multiple clients with one or two. We all squat and deadlift, and I have 80-something’s who eagerly get down on the ground to play with their great-grandchildren! Strength = healthy/happy aging!!
@helenlong62217 ай бұрын
Also - for Dr. Drew - good for you!!!! More exercise education for doctors. One simple question all doctors should ask anyone over 40: "Can you get up and down from the ground without assistance (inc holding on to something)?" It's the first question I ask all of my clients, and I am constantly amazed at how many can't - and don't know they can't until they try.

I absolutely agree with so many of these points. I have a happy, balanced lifestyle, full of love, support, faith, health and strength. However I take ssris because regardless of my good, high protein diet, strength training and hiking, a loving family, faith and meditation, financially stable, I do not produce sufficient seretonin and therefore require a baseline dose of sertraline to achieve and maintain my happy life. I am grateful for meds. I have depression and anxiety and a mix of a healthy lifestyle, rest, love and medication help me manage it. It's a balance. I am grateful for this podcast, and have learned so much form you guys but meds do not just mask underlying problems. To get better, and in my case, meds helped me get to a place where I felt strong enough to address the lifestyle issues that were imbalancing me during my intense depressive episodes. I am alive today because of that extra help.

Daily walking hits many boxes. You are outside getting fresh air and sun, around people, having time for self reflection (like prayer), and it is stress relief/basic exercise. I mean, lifting weights is fantastic and proper eating, obviously. But daily walking through out the day of 10-20K steps is the best medicine. It's also the best fat loss hack of all time because it's so low impact on the body but can be done daily with great overall calorie burn.
