alright, i really dont wanna be annoying with this debate cuz honestly it annoys the absolute fuck outta me as of recent, so apologies for being annoying with the comments lol. but tyrecordslol argues that every mario is different, that being 3d games, spin-offs, 2d, and basically saying that the only way mario would come close to beating sonic is using comp mario, basically saying that with every mario being different, that takes away all of marios greatest feats. therefore comp mario cant really be used in a death battle due to it being disingenuous and unfair. what is REALLY annoying is that according to most articles, is that mario's spinoffs dont actually have a confirmed/recognized canon. therefore its debatable if marios legacy content can be canon, all of this can come from his latest response to us mario fans. in all honesty, i think its unfair how us nintendo/mario fans are usually the ones with less subs, and a lower viewcount, while sonic fans get all the glory and are able to shut us up with considerably "better" counterarguements due to how practically outnumbered we are, and to top it off sonic fans are just really toxic and parasitic to those who share different viewpoints. honestly up until now, still no hate and im just trying to bring up some stuff that really can be viewed as just unfair/annoying to this controversial ass debate.

Dude no like I second this wholeheartedly. Qnd it's mainly because the Sonic community in general care way more about vs debates than Mario fans. Like they scale Sonic to Goku which is just straight bull LMAO. In comparison to sonic's enemies that example really isn't much. I'm going to use a 23 year old enemy at a big l o w b a l l. Perfect chaos is taller than a 7 story building and 7 story buildings are about 80-120 feet tall. He's at least faster than light because sonic has lightspeed shoes (not counting super sonic) and he's at least planetary due to the chaos emeralds existing being able to split up the earth and him being able to fight super sonic would make him at least near that level. In sonic generations the same perfect chaos gets MANHANDLED by base sonic. Mind you sonic is 3'3 and he just did that in his base form.

1 thing I think is kind of important to bring up that I never see anyone talk about in these videos is that Mario did have the luma with him and was getting power from it the whole time he was in Galaxy and Galaxy 2. I'm not saying that it was making a HUGE difference to his abilities or power in general, but I do think that it could have been helping Mario to do feats such as launching the planetoids with ground pounds and such or protecting him from the giant black hole at the end of the game via just some kind of manipulation over celestial bodies since that's what lumas become. Not trying to take away from the power scaling or anything, but I thought it could be an interesting topic to bring up the fact that he did have a celestial creature able to transform into an entire galaxy with him during that adventure. How much it helped him though is up for debate.

Fair point and it's definitely something I considered. In the official guide, it's stated the Luma's main ability is helping Mario survive the harsh conditions of deep space, and his spin attack. In the game, whenever the Luma's powers are activated, like the chain stomp and the spin attack, the Luma leaves Mario's cap to recharge. Anything else, like his regular ground pound, and strength feats stay consistent with things he's pulled off without Luma. From lifting/destroying castles and boulders without breaking a sweat, to consistently being in the center of devastating attacks without being remotely harmed, it's easier to assume that those are his feats separate from Luma's influence.

Well, I always figured they were different versions. Not only does Paper Jam show that they're different, but even games before it imply that they're different. If 3d Mario was the same as PM, he wouldn't be able to fold up his body like in TTYD and entering the 3rd dimension in Super Paper Mario wouldn't have been a big deal. Besides, he still probably scales physically, and he doesn't need PM feats to win, unlike Sonic needing Archie or Fleetway feats to win.

Well, Firstly, in base form Sonic doesn't exceed or even reach the speed of light without charging up a lightspeed attack. Even still, Mario has around lightspeed reaction time, (due to the reasons I mentioned in the video) so the chances of Sonic actually being able to take a power up from Mario is low. Even still, Mario has bottomless glove, so he can store however many power ups he'd need for any given reason. Also while movie Super Sonic and Archie Ultra Sonic can make wishes, canon game Sonic cannot and has never been shown to have that ability

Honestly tyrecordslol is so biased towards Sonic it’s not even funny.
