It’s been confirmed the Sony made Insomniac cut down on the final act, along with other large parts of the story so they would have a 2023 PlayStation exclusive. That’s probably a big reason why it didn’t exactly own up to the first.

@@therealkayoriyeah I think he should’ve had more scenes to make harry hate him and then when he finally gets venom we have the “WE’RE POISONED TO PETER PARKER AND SPIDER-MAN. WE’RE VENOM!” scene and then Peter gets his ass whooped and in the game we see harry have moments fucking with Peter in the city and some boss fights before the final boss and before Peter gets anti venom. the traditional venom along with more time would’ve made this game PERFECT. (I also think the symbiote invasion was good and should’ve been left in but with more time to develop instead of going so fast)

Makes sense as I always felt like the last act was missing at least half the content we were given, also the barely any side content compared to the first game, but the rest was overall good imo, a good 7/10 from me, would’ve easily been an 8 if the story was longer and prob a 9 if it also had more side content, maybe DLC will change that IF they drop any, I’m kind of more interested in the Venom game they’re now making and the wolverine game that’s been getting leaked very badly lately, from what I’ve seen

@@ccelite3782 rs. arkham was a lot more focused and clearly had a plan, story, and ending set from its inception. there is literally details from arkham asylum that hinted at events from arkham knight, details from arkham city that hinted at events in arkham knight as well such as scarecrow developing his new fear toxin and getting rid of the mask, jasons reveal etc. it wasn't executed the best by any means but it was at least planned, focused, and it seemed like they knew were they wanted to take the story from the get go or at the very minimum it felt like that. insomniacs Spiderman's story feels like they made shit up along the way just throwing out random ideas without considering how it will fit in the overall narrative

In my opinion, there were way too many Easter eggs. Scream, Anti-Venom, especially Cindy Moon. We didn't need another spider person when they couldn't even tie Miles into the storyline in a believable way.

They did follow Anti-Venom’s comic origin story almost exactly as it was written though. Eddie Brock is dying of cancer after the Venom symbiote left him when he encounters Mr. Negative who charges the remaining symbiote left inside of Eddie, it bonds with his white blood cells and starts healing Eddie without the mind altering side effects the venom symbiote had. Only difference is it’s Harry here and not cancer.

I just wish it had been a straight up Spider-Man sequel that dealt with the fallout of his story from the first game and only focused on miles minimally like the first game did. They both deserve to be the main characters of their own games. Obviously yes Spider-Man was the main character over Miles in this and it was not a 50/50 split game but come. Spider-Man and his villains got WAY less screen time and build up than they should have. The Miles stuff largely should have just been hinted at and built up for his own sequel. I’m not saying they can’t make a game where it’s 50/50 one day but first of all this wasn’t even that and second they both should get their own trilogies first. This feels like Spider-Man got very short handed. Not to mention the plot literally suggests that a 10 year vet Spider-Man isn’t even close to as good as miles who has only been a hero for a year. Yes Spider-Man is grieving but if insomniac understood Spider-Man better they would know that those emotions should make him stronger not weaker. And yes he was less skilled and strong in this than it should have been. The whole game was just a disappoint in my opinion. I hope his third game brings it home but it’ll likely end in either Spider-Man’s death or permanent retirement which is out of character. But whatever.

I agree with there, Spiderman shouldve gotten stronger in grief not weaker, he'd be subconsciously taking it out on the world and won't be pulling his punches as much because he doesn't feel ok. Then comes the Symbiote which feeds on that hate. I wanted to see Peter absolutely maul the lizard because he kept wasting his time but that never happened and he barely even beat him in the black suit

I may be the first one to say this but marvels Spider-Man 2 has really died out since release man. Feels like this game went 2 steps back compared to the first game. Swinging/ combat wise they taken stuffs out which angered me and also they didn’t go beyond in that aspect. The game has been out for 7 MONTHS….. and still no dlc and ppl wonder why the game is dying. I got bored of this game cuz it didn’t have that replay value like it did the first gam. Also another reason why this game is dead is cuz the symbiote plays the exact same way as the other regular suits (apart from surge) but outside of that it’s the same combat/ dodge/ swing animations and the finishers… you can’t even morph into the symbiote in the game🤦🏾‍♂️ it don’t feel different when wearing it cuz it doesn’t play different. Insomniac really let me down

It's a trash game for me. Gameplay was barely touched. It was already very repetitive but they thought just adding arcady style special moves would make us happy maybe dumb dumbs but not people who actually like to play their games instead of watch interactive movie which is most Sony titles currently. Swinging as well is bad. I still can't do what older games let us do effortlessly. I swing near a wall and now I have to wall run when I don't want to as well as some other things. Mj has more play time than venom etc. Symbiote experience is bad and turned out be just a suit after intihar said he didn't wanna just add it as a suit in the first game. 6.5/10

The lack of side content hit pretty hard too it’s extremely easy to rush through the story, because the pacing is pretty intense too, you always feel like u need to rush to the next story mission I would of appreciated a little more time as symbiote Peter and even a few side missions only available while having the symbiote

I still remember that Tony Todd said that we were gonna get a venom mission like the one we had in miles Morales at the beginning when he is riding Rhino. Where did that go? In my opinion if I was going to write this it would have been like after the kravens boss fight with Peter mile tries to save Peter but miles looses and Peter turns into venom and then we get to play as venom where we rage around the city and go to harry and do something and then we get like a boss fight with kraven as venom (Peter) after we kill kraven miles has to beat venom or make Peter loose venom and do the tear in half. After sometime they leave we see harry in a bed dying, we see that the symbiote reached harry and turned him into venom. after some story missions we get a call from MJ or The Police and we see that there is a mysterious figure in alley way doing some mysterious stuff and we get to a cutscene shown in the reveal trailer at the end. Then we get more missions and have to fight venom as Peter and miles.

Like I said if we met venom in the alleyway, I would have done like they would have gotten like scared and their spider sense wouldn’t go on, so it would be like an attack without a warning. And that would ultimately scare them, which would lead us to a mission where we would have to evade from Venom. Which would have been really fun and a bit scary, but they didn’t do that, leading to venom being scary but like not the level of fear that you would actually get if you like saw him Irl.

In my opinion, I think that the boss fight of Kraven and Peter back to back is weird story wise. It should have been, he goes back to Dr. Connors’ lab, used the rock to get the symbiote off, and then Harry gets the symbiote. Then, sometime after the scream boss fight, Peter gets corrupted by Venom and THATS when you fight Peter

The addiction aspect of having the symbiote needed to be explored more. Have Peter get it once, somehow gets ripped off him after having it for a while, and feel like he needs to have it to function once he doesn’t have it anymore. Maybe something happens where he can’t save someone during a set piece, and that’s what makes him want it back more. So he resorts to more brutal ways of fighting crime to compensate for not having it since it frustrates him. When he gets it back, miles and mj don’t hear from him for a while, but know he’s fighting crime still, but at a rate so rapid, miles doesn’t have much to do in the city. He sees the horrific aftermath’s of some of Peter’s crime fighting (paralyzed criminals, destroyed warehouses, etc) and questions if he’s even a good guy anymore. He’d be the villain in my version, personally. Maybe miles has to get venom’s help to beat Peter since he’s gotten so powerful.

Surge mode can be used on any other suit and just becomes auto finishers which are repetitive and lazy. It's basically just a gimmick and no different from another suit. The game in general is lazily made

Needs more acrobatics and more ways to manipulate the positioning of enemies. the original Spider-Man 2 movie game still has the most expression of any Spider-Man game since you had upwards of 40 different moves to use on enemies.

Nah Symbiote Peter is actually the easiest boss in the game for various of reasons, one being his attacks are the easiest to parry, second webbing Peter up as he’s attacking literally negates all his attacks and he can’t even touch you and third the bell leaves him open so much giving you the biggest handy cap even tho you can beat Peter without the bell because he’s just that easy.

Already made a comment, but I just want to point out that as much as I want to hope for sm3, I feel like it’s already doomed for 3 reasons, reason 1 is Cindy, I like her character in the comics but I just don’t feel like she fits here right now and if they try to cram her origin into the third game and make her fight the big bad of the entire trilogy it won’t make sense as she doesnt have a connection with Norman to make the payoff satisfying, that’s exactly what happened with miles and venom, they barely knew each other so anytime they interacted it felt awkward and forced, and quite honestly I think miles was a detriment to this story as well, for having the same amount of runtime as the last game, that means that the characters respective time to develop is cut in half, and it’s even more brutally divided with mj missions, so it feels as if we are both getting less quantity and quality with each character unlike in the two solo games where it was contained to mostly one character and it worked so well because of it, you can’t make a 2 protagonist game if you either dont develop them along side each other rather than just interact and still give them ENOUGH time of their own for Individual arcs, it felt like both miles and Pete’s arcs were both side stories just because of the lack of focus and time we had with them. Or you can try and increase the overall time of the games runtime and that would honestly fix a lot of problems. Now add a third protagonist in the mix and I just feel it all goes to shit. And gameplay wise they have to allocate so much resources to her voice lines, combat animations, abilities, traversal animations, etc and that means less resources and time able to be spent on developing the games core system further than it could’ve been without jamming another character in there. (Ps I know including her in a miles spinoff or venom spinnof would allow us time with her so it doesn’t feel as forced, but my previous points still apply even then just at a slightly lesser scale) And reason 2 is sweet baby inc, any game they’ve touched has gone to hell, they are like a silent cancer in the gaming industry that not many people know about and they have terrible management and force unnecessary time and energy focusing on things no one should care about in a video game, and make narrative decisions that ruin what they touched. It’s not shocking that they’ve dipped their stubby little hands in SSKTJL and look how that game turned out And reason 3 is, honestly why change anything? I mean from insomniacs point of view, people will shit shovel anything they put out just because it’s “insomniac” and Spider-Man and so people already have these rose tinted glasses for the franchise and will buy whatever they give them, there isn’t a riot outside their headquarters demanding change, the only people demanding change are the few people with awareness and critical thinking that can see through this games cracks and they are a fraction of the consumer market, so go ahead Bryan intihar, go ballistic with your mj missions that you oddly are hellbent of getting in your game, because regardless at the end of the day no one gaf

I'm so dissapointed on what Insomniac and SBI did to this amazing IP, as many people I am... Or was a huge Spider-Man fan since the PS1 game. I bought my PS4 a bit late and then got the game from 2018. It was an amazing experience, not perfect obviously but very fullfilling, Miles Morales was meh to me but I was extremely excited for Spider-Man 2 and we got this half baked product.

I just don’t feel like most people who play the Spider-Man games actually know good combat, Spider-Man 1 and Spider-Man miles morales to me still have the better combat. On paper you see all the changes and additions Spider-Man 2 has made but overall there are big and small differences that affect the game in a negative way, and let me emphasize the small because people call you out for pointing out small issues but those small issues add up and eventually can make your experience feel “off” for example, the pacing of the animations and speed of abilities is significantly slower, the web pulls and throws feel very slow and weak and not satisfying to use at all, for whatever reason the impacts of the hits on both ends don’t feel impactful at all and this was already a somewhat of a problem for the first two games, and I could go on and on with the small. Some of the big ones was the removal of the gadgets, they quick fire idea is good, but they executed it with shitty gadgets that just do all the work for you and don’t have that satisfying utility they did and Spider-Man 1 minus a few op exceptions, should’ve done it like the Harry Potter game where there are gadget profiles or whatever so that you can alternate between them but still have quick fire, enemy design on paper is supposed to be more difficult, and everyone seems to agree it is but am I the only one that is so confused? I played on the hardest difficulty, and parrying is too easy, enemies attack you way less often, I never feel at risk with AOE throwables anymore like I used to, enemy abilities dont Feel like a threat at all besides the anti air one, and I went back to play miles morales after a while and after getting off that rust I still felt like it was harder to play but at the same time way more fast paced, impactful, engaging, and difficult. Combat in sm2 just feels cobbled together sloppily, every new ability functions but some of those said functions are useless and or unsatisfying to use. Everyone’s rebuttal is always something straight out of a developers handbook I swear, it’s always along the lines of “well you can combine gadgets, special abilities, webs, finishers and intertwine them cohesively and pair them to create combos” like no shit man, that’s combat basics 101, just because those are possible in the game doesn’t mean they are executed well. It’s a shame because a Spider-Man game with perfect combat is literally my number 1 gaming wish, his power set and just everything about him is so unique and has so much potential to be methodically integrated to where it’s so good. The combat community for this game is slowly realizing how much this game fumbled, idk why it took so long but people like sonisbiotic for example can see that now, although I will say I’m not a huge fan of his style of combat, he’s obviously very good but it’s more or less just purposeless air juggling and it gets stale

He is 100 percent wrong. Marvel's Spiderman 2 is amazing, not disappointing the story, like the first two is emotional, intense, and has good character development. The graphics, music, character models, boss fights, and gameplay are amazing, I liked the mj missions, and I thought they were improved. Don't listen to him it's not disappointing the only things I didn't like was I didn't like the mascot side quest and the annoying puzzles.
