Not manufacturing wear parts within a decade of selling the model guarantees I will never buy a Mazda

Strange that they don’t have that. It’s only 9 years old. I just ordered all my coolant hoses for my 1990 Miata.

After 10 or 15 years, they stop carrying and making parts for cars. You have to custom make by a welder or craftsman. It's the same way with Toyota, after 16 years the parts are obsolete . Don't even think about getting your catalytic converter replaced. If a welder can't custom make parts anymore, for your car then you have to call tow truck to have it hauled away.

I thought there was a time frame where they had to have parts. 9 years does not seem like a proper length of time

Yes and no and automakers have become more then aware. Why do you think we get new vehicles every year? And after a very short window of 2-3 years many vehicles are off the production line onto the next model, and the only law forcing manufacturers too keep parts was a law passed in 75, and they only had to maintain parts for their warranty term.. so a vehicle stops production in 2020, if they offer a 5 year warranty no more small parts after 2025, but will still manufacture what they know will cause issues and charge people and arm and a leg for it even though it could be a 100$ issue like in this case. Welcome to the later stages of capitalism 😐

@@Jasiel.95 Planned obsolescence. Learn it. Search it. And apply it. No reason a new model of every other vehicle is needed every. single. year. and then too change such small things for no reason.

Mechanics won't waste time repairing your car if the time and labor is not worth their time. One dealership try to charge me $2000 just to cleanup oil spill on hood and tighten the engine oil cap. Nothing wrong with the car, just somebody didn't tighten the cap tight enough and when I drove, oil exploded everywhere under the hood. You have to be careful, because they will quote you for a nonsense car repair . If dealership don't have the part you need, go to junk yard to buy parts from cars that have been towed to facility. You will have to unistall the parts yourself, so bring your own tools, hat, and sunscreen, and 1 extra person to help you pull apart and carry item.

And that ending is what I do not understand with our new “extended oil change intervals” and LIFETIME transmission fluid. Lifetime for the warranty. Not for the owners. I’m getting close to wanting the bushings and such be looked at on my car (16mazda3) hard finding someone who would be willing to put in the time on my car and car for it as I would without charging me thousands.

Agreed! BMW has been doing the lifetime transmission fluid for years, like since the 90s. It's like everything is made to fail now. If you're in the same situation, I would honesty get bushings made from nylon or polyurethane. That way they're guaranteed to last.

I work at gm and as much as y’all won’t like what I have to say it’s all for a good reason no manufacturer is gonna keep old lines tooled for older Gen cars cause it’s just not viable. So they make an abundance of parts for said Gen while it’s in manufacturing then once that stock is gone that’s really it for oem parts. As much as it would be nice to have a constant stream of oem parts. It’s just not realistic at all.

Yes the car manufacturer shouldn't have to keep these parts made and holding up tooling but they could do a better job making the information available to OEMs /aftermarket options. The Japanese is bad about having alternative parts available when the vehicle is fairly new.
@weefek

Here is why you are wrong. Almost all of these parts are subcontracted by the 1st tier (Mazda, Ford, Whoever) for the original vehicles to 2nd or 3rd tier manufacturers. After the lifespan of that certain platform they often sell those contracts (and tooling) to other companies (sometimes the same company, sometimes not, sometimes the original company hires another 3rd tier) to provide "Service Parts" (replacement parts). These programs usually last 5, 10, 15, sometimes 20 years depending on the manufacturer and the platform (volume of product sold, number of vehicles still on the street, etc). The fact that they stopped making these after 8 years tells me they didn't sell a lot of these during their prime production years. BTW, you GM / Chrysler Engineers are fucking idiots. I think you need to learn a thing or two about your suppliers, unless you're a line worker, in which case you don't give a fuck and have no idea how it works.

I totally get what you mean by having old part lines running. But if a part doesn't last that long, then it should be improved to do so. Or better yet, a bushing is a fairly generic part and could be used across various models instead of one specific vehicle. Some other manufacturers utilize this well. That way it saves on retooling and there's support for a longer period of time.

No other way of removing these bushings without cutting them out. Also due to the age, all the rubbers on this vehicle are cracked. I would assume all others are the same.
