These Mercedes EQE’s and EQS’s have over the air updates too - so they can and will be adding more speed to the charging at DC fast chargers from what I’ve been told. So yes they are slower now, but once more superchargers open they will have to focus more on getting their cars cycled through chargers as fast as teslas. They adopted the NACS - so it’s all bound to be as simple as a Tesla is and have access fully to the same charging network. I’m making the switch from a Model Y Performance that I’ve owned for over 3 years. I tested one and found a used one for $30K off and it’s an AMG with the Dynamic Plus package too. You’re right you can’t compare the two - because the MYP is light years behind this beast and the ride quality is light years ahead with the Mercedes. The haters will be loving my interior as they all drool at it while I’m charging on their network. It claims less range - but gets more than the MYP and the AMG is faster too. I also tested the BMW x3; it's in a different league than the model y; it's way more comfortable, settled, and has way better-driving dynamics. It's a way better car on all levels except the seats, which are harder than model y. the kia was cheaper than both and was a better car than the model y, so why not go for it? Don't regret a thing. Another thing is because she charges at charging stations and not from home, she spends more on electricity than me on gas because her battery runs out even when the car is off, and with sentry mode on, she has to charge every few days. My gas doesn't run out, so I spend 30$ less on gas than her every month.

@@identicloakI am referencing the announcements made each time by the manufacturer in conjunction with Tesla. E.g. Ford's announcement of "access to the largest network of fast-chargers in the U.S. and Canada with 12,000+ Tesla Superchargers" and similar by GM. There are almost 21,000 open Tesla Supercharger stalls in the USA alone. Canada has around 1,800, so combined USA + Canada is around 22,800 stalls. So, unless I'm missing something (please feel free to point out my mistake), I only underestimated the exact fraction; it's more like 55% of all USA + Canada Supercharger stalls available to Ford and others through these agreements. It's not clear if whole sites will be unavailable to partners but that's how it is currently in Europe for non-Tesla cars and we all use the same CCS2 connector, so that is likely how it will work in N. America too with NACS. There are some sites that are simply oversubscribed just with Tesla cars, so it might not make any sense for Tesla to allow Fords, GMs, Rivians, etc. to be able to charge at those locations too, at least for the foreseeable future. However, hopefully the additional investment that comes from these agreements will help Tesla manage and improve that situation over time. There is also a technical limitation of V2 and older chargers that are not CCS compatible. So until or unless those stations are upgraded, they will not be available to Ford, GM, etc. who will use the CCS protocol with the NACS connector. Ford, GM, etc... their apps will not show the Tesla Supercharger locations that are excluded from the partner agreement. But if owners just turn up at a Supercharger they see, thinking they can get a charge, they might be disappointed. On the flipside, the benefit for Tesla owners is that we hardly ever have to wait because Tesla manage this so well, at least if the European rollout is anything to go by.

KZbin didnt post my first long winded comment sadly. Was in the EQS...and test drove a new model 3 that same day. Honestly, the Tesla was better. Heck, my friend drives a s550 and he didnt like it..hes been driving s classes for decades now..let that sink in.

I’d love one too, but the extra price rules it out for me.
You forgot to add Service experience to which Tesla sucks big time and Mercedes is top notch.

Why compare to the Model Y LR, instead of the standard range? The standard range has comparable range and better performance.

Really well thought out comments. Tesla should be listening to improve their cars re interior, fit and finish and ride. Overall, I would take the model Y.

Although the suspension of my Model Y is really not the best I like this minimalistic „modern“ interior without all this old school switches and knobs. The Tesla shows that this is a new era of cars a I like it. The IT stuff is also much better…

Two completely different cars. Model Y is way more efficient and can load more but the EQE has a premium feel and comfort and even though it´s not the best looking car it does look waaaaay better than the model Y.

I have a 21 model YLR. It is great!!! I think people don’t understand when you’re making these comparisons is that you’re gonna give up things when you buy vehicles not all vehicles have luxury items as standard. You need to buy them in packages. Some packages contain some things that other packages don’t contain when people are buying their vehicles. Gets a give and take scenario in all things. . You must pay for all of them. Everyone compares vehicles to Teslas because Tesla‘s are the gold standard for all the other vehicles . Everything is compared to Tesla, because Tesla is by far the BEST. Hands down. There are flaws in Teslas like any other vehicle manufacturer, but overall there’s nothing any better. In all aspects from charging, software updates, to speed and acceleration and storage space, TESLAS are crazy unbelievable!!!!!

For 25K more does the EQE at least have Bio Hazard Defense mode, Camp Mode, Dog Mode, or Sentry Mode? Can it work with a Solar system and change demand instantly real-time with Solar availablity? That interior and suspension does not justify 25K price tag. Take that 25k and upgrade the model Y suspension then buy a Solar System.

So when are you going to trade in your Y for the EQE ? Clearly you won't mind spending the extra 27K considering the more upscale feel to it. VALUE, it really comes down to that, is MB 27K more VALUE and do you get 27K more with it, like you said it isn't and you don't. Does MB have OTA updates? Does it have dog mode, camp mode, ect, no frunk, those things you didn't mention my man.....
@jiminauburn5073 Жыл бұрын
Actually $35K more, because in the US you get the $7500 tax rebate on the model y.

@derrekb450111 ай бұрын
still comparing to Y still is Apple to Oranges. What if you give that extra $27000 to Tesla and see what they can do? Only way to fairly compare is what you get for $80K from each brand, so yes compare this car to Model X currently at $80K. It's not as cool or fast.

It’s fundamentally flawed to even mention these two vehicles as comparable. How does +$27,000 make two cars compared?? Yes, the Merc should be well hammered together and yes, Merc will have top notch build quality, fit and finish. Good luck to Merc👍

She loves the suspension and 4 wheel steering and it's very nice to be in. Not a huge fan of how it looks on the outside.
@adamaufdencamp5080 Жыл бұрын
I have over 4000 miles on my 350 4matic. I think the all wheel steering is incredible for city maneuvering. The quiet ride, distronic and adjustable suspension have radically improved my highway trips. At the moment Electrify America is sucking. But I’m doing most charging on a level 2 at home. I’ve spent some time in a friend’s Model Y and agree that it’s got a minimalist cool factor. But the EQE kills it for a premium, luxury interior feel. Worth the price difference? Probably not. But I’d make the same choice again. But perhaps wait for a model that has the NACS charging port. If you get a chance, try the 350 4matic with the acceleration increase add on option. With that option it’s now fast enough that passengers don’t really enjoy full throttle launches.

@@adamaufdencamp5080 thanks for you opinions, I appreciate it. I have been leaning towards the EQS 580, but the reality is, I only have one child, she’s almost 12 and I only do around town driving in Las Vegas, so the charging I don’t believe will be an issue because I’ll mainly be charging at home, but I totally understand how bad electrify America can be. I agree that that EQE350 probably isn’t worth the extra money… But it sure looks good on the inside, not that Tesla looks bad on the inside I do like that minimalist look for sure. The EQE it’s probably a really good fit for me and my needs.
@adamaufdencamp5080 Жыл бұрын
@@Annette_Hons if you can charge at home, I think you’d love it. I talked with another EV owner at a charging station today and he can’t charge his Taycan or I4 at his city condo. But people buying such expensive cars often have a second home. Which he did. And like my experience, when he’s at his home with a level 2 garage charging the issue of “fueling” disappears. Park the car in the garage, plug it in, and forget about it.
