I have a miroku mk70 grade 5 ,I bought it second hand 35 years ago,you can have it when I'm dead and not until, solid, reliable, cheap for the quality, and it feels like it was made for me,tad heavy in my later years but it's a fine shotgun,

Miroku all the way! does what it says on the tin! *A Shooters Gun For Shooters* that and it handle's just as good as guns 3 to 4 times as much as it! Simple and effective! MK 38 Grade 5 trap is truly different class! best handling guns out of the box for little to no money! plus they seem to be getting niche now! haha.

Miroku give you more for your money, good handling, good balance and simple features that make them a little more pretty. My little old sporter came with a fiddle back oiled stock with swept back pistol grip and black heel plate, nice chequering. and a tear drop. The forend has tulip end, and the chequering was better design with the four pointed finger design would be two fingers below the forend as opposed to two on each side. All this for £350, Miroku started to take the market, its no wonder browning took them over. Dont forget if you buy one, have the chokes regulated and trigger pulls reset, I set mine at 31/2 lbs IF you want to fine tune your gun Happy days and good luck shooting.

Browning North America has a lot to answer for. Not only are Miroku guns blocked from entry, the more attractive Browning models such as the Heritage, B525, B725 Black Gold, B725 UK Premium, Ultra XS are also not imported. North America is the largest sporting arms market in the world and we get the least attractive guns. I can't imagine what Browning is thinking.

I can see where the "Miroku might be better finished than a Browning" argument would come from since, at least here in the U.S., I heard the same rumor floating around for the Winchester 101 vs. the Nikko/ Kodensha branded guns (especially in wood quality). If Miroku guns were offered here though (don't think that will happen with the non-compete agreement they have here, plus the ubiquity of the Browning name), I'd probably own one myself over the Browning I have right now.

My skeet gun is a Miroku Mk70 in 20ga with 30 inch tubes. I like the stock measurements better than the current Brownings. I also own a Browning CSX in 20ga with 30 inch barrels as well. The guns are very similar overall with some key differences: The Browning has an adjustable trigger, the Miroku does not. The Browning has a ventilated barrel attachment, the Miroku does not. The Miroku is fitted with standard Invector chokes (Angle Ports), the Browning utilizes Invector plus (Midas). The Browning came with a mid bead, the Miroku did not (I added one). The Rail on the Browning is wider than the Miroku. The receiver on the Browning is all black with gold lettering. The Miroku has a white (chrome) receiver with some tasteful, albeit, machine engraving. The Miroku came with a plain plastic butt plate (replaced by a Kickeez pad), the Browning came with an "Inflex 2" pad. So how do they differ? The Miroku is slightly lighter and livelier and balances closer to the hinge pin. The Browning tends to be slightly nose-heavy. Overall, I shoot the Miroku a little better. There aren't many of them in America and I get a lot of "what's that" comments about the gun. Finally the wood on the Miroku is quite a bit better than the Browning.

I went with 525 precisely because at the time I was in the market and looking for a new Sporting OU I knew very little about modern shotguns! I certainly had no experience with a range of guns to form a personal preference. Thus, I went with what was popular and ubiquitous, what other people had written plus advice from Gun Shops (dangerous, I know ;) ). If I knew then what I know now, would I have made a different choice ? Would I have gone for Miroku ? Probably not. Thanks for keeping up the output to keep us informed and entertained in strange times, much appreciated. Hey look, my Club has reopened ! I'll see you on the Stands, at a safe distance, bottle of handsan...

How bloody dare you! ;-) Interesting video... I suppose with both Browning and Miroku (and any manufacturer) it boils down to the one gun that ticks the most boxes or is closest to your dream gun (within your budget). For me personally Browning ticks more boxes; I have bought the sporter version of the Browning B525 Shadow. I like the understated black action, the engraving is acceptable but not as nice as the engraving on some Miroku's... but it's black. I love the higher grade wood... What can I say, I love a nice piece of wood. I love how well made the Browning is, not that the Miroku isn't. I think if it was between a standard 525 and a Miroku I would find it harder to choose. How would you compare Belgian made Brownings and Miroku?

@Steven Lord I have a High pheasant 20 bore. I love it ! It has 32” barrels with fixed chokes 3/4 and Full. I am currently having multi chokes fitted to cover steel shot but to also give me a few more options for closer shots. I have cleanly shot some very spectacular high, January pheasants. It kills long range ( true 70-80 yard) birds as if they had flown into a barn door. I have also cleanly missed as many! The Beauty of having tight chokes on a small bore gun is that you either hit stone dead or miss altogether! No one wants to prick birds. At closer range however, when you do hit your target, you can do a little too much damage. Not every shoot you go on will have stratospheric birds, regular partridge and pheasant shoots will present fantastic 30-40 yard birds and I believe a less choked gun is better suited to these targets! Now that I have added the multi chokes of 1/2, 1/2, 3/4 and Full I have a gun that can be used for all my shooting needs. I love it. The one other bit of advice that I think is key, is, whatever you have, make sure it’s fitted to you 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Mathew. I have the Mk38 trap grade 5 choked 3/4 full & agree with you on the every point there. Like you I am too looking at getting mine opened up for steel and also you do have to pick some longer birds as anything 40 off yards does tend to get hit hard. All the very to you for the coming season. 👍
