Inflation makes social interaction even worse these days because the average young man is basically shunned from so many things. Sure, you can read old books, watch old films and go out on a hike in nature; but we don’t meet anyone to socialize with. Community college and skilled trades are wonderful career paths, but once again, you surround yourself with much older people that cannot socialize with you. Many third places such as cafes have been demolished for parking lots and entire urban downtowns have been turned into another “Disney Land” that is exclusive to only the wealthy. So, the problem goes nowhere when older folks say, “jUsT gO oUtSiDe.” To what?

Me, personally, I've considered Japan because it's beautiful and much less egregiously crime-riddled. Now, some fear-mongering content would have you believing that it's the train diddling capital of the world, but just teach your female family members mild self defense skills and arm them with pepper sprays and they'll be a million times safer than any major city in the US. Or just find a smaller US town with a nice forest and relaxed gun laws, get a good alarm system, and remember change your bug lamp batteries. You'll do just fine anywhere you go as long as you approach it with the level of care and attention expected of someone who knows what the black pill is and is 4 or 5 self-improvement youtubers deep into the rabbit hole.

You're right, good relationships are difficult and rare because they are inherentely unnatural. But if you look around you'll see that society is unnatural. And that's not a bad thing. Good point. I often wonder why people who argue against things solely on the basis of them being “unnatural” don’t consider this. Plastic bags are unnatural, cars are unnatural, smart phones are unnatural, etc. Yet, they are created by us, biological organisms that naturally inhabit this planet, using resources extracted, chemically altered, and engineered - from this planet! Thus by definition, isn’t everything we do actually natural? When we advance even further with being able to alter genetic code, develop even more sophisticated AI, and robotics, isn’t that natural? We, beings of this earth, advancing in technological sophistication and altering our environment is occurring naturally over time. Food for thought

I think a large part of it is to do with the overregulation of relationships. The whole discourse around dating, whether it's redpill, feminist, conservative or progressive, imparts protocols and social pressure on people, thus turning relationships into partnerships where people are seen as functions and the relationship is seen as an obligation. This dulls and ultimately kills the feelings of love.

This really hits the nail on the head, so many times I hear the supposed solution to our quandries about love always coming from these pessimistic miserable gen x people that subscribe to some deontological view of marriage as state sanctioned reproduction; that love is a stoic, transactional, passionless enterprise that only starts after the feelings die. But healthy love doesn't die, it cools from the high of the butterflies into something deeper, something more holistic and gratifying, like long-term happiness. The fact that these people think it's ideal to begrudgingly spend 40 years of your life sticking it out for nothing less than a roommate you occasionally fuck and pay your taxes with; that's not love, that's complacent security

thing im really starting to feel latetly, is how little we actually can do to drasticly change everything. We can only play our part, our life in the hopes it will turn out. but we cant decide or control anything outisde outselfs. we dont control how other react, respond, feel etc. i feel as if im trapped as to how other respond to me. if they react in a way that makes me feel good i feel good but if they react in a way that makes me feel lonely i feel bad. it almost seems as if this is the only factor which determines if im happy or relaxed. other feel the same? and if so, my happiness depends on something i cannot control or ever will be able to even predict... just the situation i am in right now, wondering if others can relate. but on the other side, i feel a lot more accepting towards my situation and life now that i kinda feel this way. If others dont like what i do, well so be it, not really anything i can do about it by trying harder or doing more. others like how i am, well great, i love that. if im not meeting excpectations or life op to other peoples idea it feels less like my fault and feels more like that process is in the hands of the other, wheras before i felt like everything was my fault. feels like i can only work on myself in an indirect way, getting bigger, getting a degree, getting more fit, more skilled fighter, better guitarist etc. but actually trying to be the person you think other people want only makes me realise that thats way too much effort for the reward.
@eljeff111110 ай бұрын
I struggled with this sentiment for the longest time before realizing that at the end of the day, every person that you are trying to win over by bettering yourself is locked in their own little battle and is dealing with their own trauma or whatever is going on in their lives. I hate for this to sound pessimistic, but I was able to move on from constantly worrying about people's perception of me by asking myself "Who really cares?" over and over again. Not in a "Ohhh nobody loves meeee waaaaah" kind of way, but genuinely. No one knows what you go through on a daily basis except yourself. For example, if I see somebody who's jacked in public, I think to myself "That person's jacked. Whoa." and then go about my day. I'm not thinking about what put him in the gym in the first place. I'm not thinking about how hard he grinded for his physique. I'm not thinking about his personal struggles. I just notice the surface level. It's so much more rewarding when you put in the work to improve yourself rather than working on yourself for others. A close friend of mine gave me some advice that changed my life: "Don't go chasing butterflies, build a beautiful garden [mind + body + spirit] so that they come to you." (If I misunderstood your comment pls let me know 😭😭)

To put it short, you can change yourself a lot but there's little that can be done to change your circumstances. Realistically, you should do as much as possible to change your circumstances because most likely there isn't anything majorly wrong with you, just with what's around you. To be perfectly honest you could hop to some SEA country and be drowning in more women than you knew what to do with meanwhile you can be a millionaire runway model in the west and still be inkwell

Marriage was about two families coming together to raise the status of their combined legacy. Love was optional. My maternal great great grandparents had no love for each other, but brought a moderately well off farming family together with a higher status but poor metalworking family, and one of their 4 children became a very wealthy, very high status blacksmith and artisan. He made every cemetery gate and cemetery fence in the municipality, virtually every crucifix on every church roof even in neighbouring municipalities, grave crosses for both peasants and the rich, knives, rifle barrels... It's all standing to this day. His daughter, my maternal grandmother, was thus born into a high income, high status family, and her blacksmith father discovered that she was a musical genius. She was sent off to learn how to play the accordion and the piano (because he was rich and educated himself, so he could give his daughter that), and got so good that she was invited to tour places like Russia and Austria. Her only child, my mom, went all in on college education (as opposed to the private education everybody in the family had received before her), equality, 304 phases, and wasted her best years chasing vain goals, conceiving me at the age of 32, with a man who was a lot like her, yet they didn't marry, because 'too oldfashioned,' and at the first sign of trouble, dad left, and mom turned into a single mother 304. I wish someone would have selected a life partner for me.

I'm starting to believe that even with marriage and monogamy structures, all love relationships have a life cycle. I know no one that is still truly in love after many years. All long term relationships, married or not, all seem to be miserable. Always fighting, or just become good friends or roommates. No one knows how to manage being with a person that operates differently after a time, no matter how much one has been in love for many years, it all just seems to shift out of love, or more into a friend love over romantic love. Everyone I've seen and known in my life of whom has been together for a time and are married are ALL just trying to make it work and it's this endless question of how the hell they will ever feel like a couple again. I wonder if it's more realistic that we go through several love relationships in our lives and long term marriage is just for families. Our personalities and attachment styles are just too complicated. EVERYONE functions from unprocessed childhood attachment patterns and traumas. I don't see this happiness, these protective factors from long term marriages. I only see people trying to kick a dead horse because they're just not in any sort of love anymore.
