"Can't wait what modders will do! It's Early Access! They will patch it! You can't compare it to BG3!" Tired of this? Well me too. Here is recap and some solutions that can somewhat change current landscape of PC gaming. From Cyberpunk 2077 to Starfield.

It's great to find someone on this platform who actually sees things in the gaming industry like I do. People rely on mods way to much to fix problems, and expect somehow for people to provide free work for them.

I devoted quite a lot of time to developing mods for Stalker and some other mods, and this is pretty solid. Arguably there's not such a simple solution as greedy corporations will do what greedy corporations do best no matter what, but I can appreciate the commentary as it describes the situation fairly accurately. It also applies to programming in general, as you're expected to demonstrate your coding prowess for resume by creating or contributing to open-source projects that corporations will in-turn steal for their for-profit software, even if its against the licensing for your project.

It's very refreshing to hear appropriate criticism about CP2077 2.0. As someone who paid full price on release and tried to play through the game, i was pretty surprised that it felt 99% identical after hearing so many good things about it. People compliment it and talk about it like it's No man's sky or something, which NMS is its own story IMO because I genuinely think those guys didn't have a true grasp of what they were trying to make, but actually ended up with a good product in the end (NMS). CP2077 on the other hand has been praised way too much-- personally I also think that charging $30 for their phantom liberty DLC was truly beyond insulting for a game that lacked so much at release. I wouldn't have been interested probably, but it was the best shot they had at making me give cp2077 another chance. I really don't know how anyone could spend more on that game after everything we've seen with it. nice review though man I enjoy your channel.

Oh hey, it's the justification for why I quit going to the KSP subreddit. I stopped because it just turned into shit. I didn't realize vote tampering is why it turned to shit.
@Yakez42
@Yakez42 10 ай бұрын
But it is not vote tampering. This is not how Reddit bots work. They specifically designed to avoid detection with downvote/upvote spikes. This more looks like people just using Reddit follow function and stalking CM. When you gaslight 1.5 million sub of people this is what happens.

Mods would be a good argument, if modders actually got paid by the gaming studio to fix their shiet game - except they dont. It doesn't help mods aren't available for consoles - this however is extremely convenient for the gaming industry. They make a crappy unomptimized game that runs like shiet on console and average PC > blame the gamers for being too poor to buy a state of the art PC. That's exactly what Cyberpunk apologists did - shame people for not spending thousands, to play a game that doesn't even have good graphics - it just has eyeburning light effects, and seizure enducing colors. Guess you have to buy an RTX 4090, to enjoy a game on an engine from 2007, not updated since 2016 when the Witcher 3 devs left CDPR. Same shiet with Starfield - even the latest state of the art PC can't get 60 frames. And Godd Howard said "upgrade your PC" - with what? RTX 5090 and Core i12 that haven't come out yet? To play a game on an engine from 2011? It's just ridiculous!

Yeah, even I somewhat forgot that I had RX570 3 years ago and not even considered trying cyberpunk 2077 for this exact reason. It runs great on 4070, but man this is 3 year old game and 4070 is this year GPU... As I saw on Cyberpunk reddit CDPR are swapping to Unreal engine with their next game. I guess amount of technical debt of their engine finally exceeded potential extra profits with CP 2077 release.

2077 originally was planned to be on the Unreal engine 4, but its notoriously harder to work on, and since they had to crunch the game on both old and new consoles they used the Witcher engine. They'll face that exact same problem if they're planning their next game on Unreal 4 or 5 - doesn't help the fact Cyberpunk was so bad, they were in a rush to announce not 1 or 2 but 4 new Witcher games to make up for it :D

I didn't dive to the mods creation, so, i can't understand, how hard it is. But, what I do understand, it's depends on the gamesorse. So, if the game is completely broken, repair it with modification is, probably, ivan harder, then creating a new game. If think about it from corporation perspective, it's getting only worth. You were been creating a game for 10 years. Pay working hours. But you get unfinished poop. It could not be payed back. So, you prepared for this, paying to make people blind and buy in the first day ore even preorder it. So, what people are paying for is stopping to matter anything. Scarry.
@Yakez42

Well, there a lot of shortcuts that 3rd party modders can take, that corpo just could not do cheaply. Like people from some countries that can use pirated software to fix certain issues or test. While doing the same not only require corporation to pay for work hours, but also require to pay for licensed software. So often it is just cost cutting sleazy way of doing business. To some extent AAA gaming just slides into the same cesspit as Hollywood, when excessive marketing can earn more than enough even with inherently inferior product. But in this case it even backed up by its customers.

Cyberpunk was made by inexperienced amateurs. CDPR will even go bankrupt soon because almost everyone refunded Cyberpunk!

CDPR definitely dropped the ball on Cyberpunk. The overwhelming pressure from consumers and most importantly from being a publicly traded company made them release the game unfinished. The difference is Bethesda released the game exactly how they envisioned it - As a cash grab because they're entitled to do so by the "modding community". The core game engine is from the late 90's, but has 25 years of plugins slapped onto it to keep it 'competitive'. Many of those plugins (mods) have been snowballed over from the modding community since the days of Morrowind. Bethesda doesn't make games, they just charge rent every couple of years for people to make their own game.

And people still buy these overpriced games and give a lot of positive feedback on steam. This just shows how stupid the newer gamer generation has become. 70€ for starfield which has soooo many bugs and things were promised which aren’t in the game yet it has a mostly positive rating on steam. I was so disappointed from cyberpunk 2077 but the mainstream brainless gamers voted this game positive. Developers see that their game has a 80% positive feedback and will continue like this because of the brainless newer gamer generation.

Last month i've been bombarded with 1000 video recommendations about Cyberpunk, despite not watching any videos about it in 2 years. It's obvious CDPR paid more for advertisement, than game development - that's why even the KZbin algorithm is helping them, and alot of big youtubers are allowed to spam videos about it, with all caps titles like "Cyberpunk BLEW MY MIND" - videos all discussing small (and outdated) features, blowing them out of proportions.
