In order to get physically stronger, we go to the gym perform a movement repeatedly over days weeks months even years. On the other side of all that work all that strain and stress on the muscle, we have muscle growth, we have more strength.
In order to get smarter or learn a new skill we repeatedly consume information in textbooks and lectures. Then, we apply in different settings both practice and in real life, and at the end of all of that mental stress and strain of pushing the boundaries of our knowledge, we get smarter. We’ve built a base level of knowledge and we can build expertise from there.
So if you can build physical strength and you can build robust mental capacity by repeatedly challenging yourself, there is a huge gap that the overall population is leaving out... and that is willpower.
Willpower is the ability to control yourself
Why wouldn’t willpower or our frame of mind or our mindset be any different than building strength or knowledge? And my thought, is it’s not. It’s not any different

Great video, man I with you, we don't value ourselves, and or the value we have is outsourced or worn to prove our value. Everyone wants to skip the process which is often hard but way less complicated Great video!

You hit it right on with “we don’t value ourselves.” So many ways to compare each other online that it’s hard to keep your head on straight if you lose focus. I appreciate you J!

Surprise - that’s how average works, it’s a bell curve of distribution. It’s a real shame you have joined this rather negative bandwagon. Before anyone asks - yes I watched the whole video.

Thanks for watching. Yep, you’re right; that is how average works. Standards drop faster than they rise, the collective group is represented with a lower standard. Is it a negative bandwagon or is it truly what you see happening too? Is it one of those things that the reality of it is not what we want but something we can strive to change individually by being aware of it?

@@NickTShelton standards aren’t dropping faster than they rise… there is no evidence for that. There has always been ebbs and flows, peaks and valleys.

To your point, lower lows are more common and are more accepted now in this phase we are in. Just like the example given in this video (participation trophies are expected, AI girlfriends are sought after). Not saying this is forever, because I truly don’t believe it is. It’s labeled toxic or negative if you make mention of it. If you try and make everyone happy, standards naturally drop.

@@NickTShelton you’ve described a superficial behaviour, not an impact. Where is the evidence of ‘lower lows’ from having participation trophys or similar? (AI girlfriends is just an extension of porn and sone rarely, especially outside of Japanese culture, and even then it’s an expression of too few women rather than anything else). I can’t see actual evidence, just inferences.
