We spend most of our summer in Spain. On our Sailboat. Some lovely places along the coastline, the best places are the ones that have not been ruined by over- tourism. Spanish people are friendly and welcoming and I hope to see more 🇬🇧🇪🇸❤

We love foreigners, but, unfortunately, excessive real estate speculation is making it nearly impossible for us, Spaniards, to live in our own land.
@LaChicaconSuerte-11118 күн бұрын
This can be solved VERY easily by the Spanish government by placing restrictions on the amount of property and the locations in which property can be bought by foreigners. But they don´t do it. Why? Because they want as much foreign cash as they can get and the tax that comes with it. Instead of asking why foreigners buy property in Spain when they are indeed offered incentives to do so by your own government, ask your government why they are not putting Spanish people first. The same goes for ´ overtourism´. It is very EASY for the government to place restrictions on the number of flights, number of hotel beds, number of tourists entering Spain per month, but they don´t....why??? see above, same reasons. Tourists and foreigners are NOT the problem. Speak to your government.

I think that is mostly in coastal areas. We went to the Spanish countryside for that reason. So many unused properties that most Spanish do not want.
@LaChicaconSuerte-11117 күн бұрын
@@lucius1976 Yes, much of Spain is in fact empty. There are loads of towns and villages with hardly any people living there and also large areas of land that are either agricultural or not being used for anything. I recently travelled all over the country by train, so I did see some of it. However, most people, whether Spanish or foreigners, gravitate to the major cities or to the coastal towns and cities so that´s where the demand is. There is little or no work outside of these towns and cities and also not very good infrastructure and facilities living outside of these town and cities. If Spain wants people to stay in their own home towns and cities, it has to provide much better infrastructure and most of all, jobs.

German here. Everything half price about (property, food) and i get back to Germany for 80 € both ways for the occasions i visit my relatives and clients while mostly working from home. Work as autonomo in Spain.

@@Contraloscarteles it´s your own country that is the loser in this. Spain welcomed Brits with open arms and was always happy to take foreign cash. Yes, Brits liked the sunny weather and lower cost of living in Spain, but no one wants to be in a country or in any place where they are constantly made to feel unwelcome.

You´re right. It´s a fairytale. No place is without its problems. Recently a big trip all around Spain and visited many of the major cities. The majority of people were nice and helpful. However, there is still a deeply ingrained racism against anyone who looks Indian and who may be mistaken for being Roma or gypsy/gitano as they are called. Romanis are treated with hostility and aggression, treated with disrespect, dicriminated against and subject to vile racism and as if they are not even human beings and have no rights....visiting Indians like myself are treated like this too, as I found out.
