Gino has only ever owned Watford but we reap the benefits of Udinese players and vice versa because of the father/son relationship it’s easy to get deals done.

As a Uruguayan I think their buy out of Torque was a grest move. Similar to the UK Uruguayan clubs are either a century plus old or modeled after extinct century old clubs, but Torque wasn't one of them. The club was established in this very century back in 2007 , and they chose the skyblue shirt as a homage for the National Team. So they purchased THE BEST club for what they wanted to do completely avoiding the Vincent Tan effect. This year the club has already been exposed to a contiental audience in Copa Sudamericana and displayed some of the prettiest football on the competition meaning that IF they manage to improve the roster and qualify again the next year ans the year after that they will certainly get some South American fans from all over the place.

Not to mention City style of poaching South American talent and then loan it out to their other club.. I think City 2nd Keeper Zack Steffan is like that, got buy from Colombus Fc and then got loan to New Yorm City FC

@@MeazurAli Funny thing is that former Melbourne City FC star Bruno Fornaroli is actually Uruguayan and now they have another Uruguayan there in Adrian Luna. @BurnRoddy3 жыл бұрын
@@FarhanKhan-hr2wo Its much more than that, they actually reinvented the club. Even by winning the Uruguayan championship time and time again and Copa Libertadores a couple of times as well, It would've taken them decades to imrpove their facilties to be even remotely close to what they are now. Even tho the posibilities are limitless and for sure it is the most advanced in Uruguay, I wouldn't say that it is the most advanced in South America however, as the difference in wealth between our league and say the Brazilian league are seemingly insurmountable, 35 times smaller in fact. But as far as Uruguay goes, they blew the rest out of the park. The difference is simply astronomical. Peñarol has been investing since 2008 and Nacional since 2003, and Torque outdid them both, and they did so in just two years. IE It took Peñarol nearly four years (from 2008 to 2011) to open a proper high performance center, Torque is expected to open theirs (which is even better and more complete) in just five months. They also made a truly groundbreaking never before seen revolutionary move to gather 40 million USD to build their own stadium within four years (2012 to 2016), and Nacional started renovating their stadium back in 2013 and they STILL haven't finished. Meanwhile City Group just bagged 30 million USD like it was nothing to expand some club in Bolivia which they don't even fully own. Like I said, for such a minuscule Uruguayan club as Torque, they've done some things that look like from another galaxy and nearly everything they've done so far is genious.
@FarhanKhan-hr2wo3 жыл бұрын
@@BurnRoddy As far as I know they cannot own clubs in brazil because of fan ownership rules, so expect Torque to be built as one of the better clubs in the continent. I fully expect the investment and growth to continue tbh.

In my opinion it's a fundamental problem if an MLS club in NYC is seen as "another Man City". If you're trying to develop local pride, how are you going to attract United supporting New Yorkers to support an extension of Manchester City?
@refkiriswansyah28303 жыл бұрын
@@samos4924 thats the good part, they dont. One of the purpose for this except for player development is for market penetration (thats why some of the club they own is in far away, out of football capital area like South America & Europe). They do it so they can trample their rival in marketing, bring more fans for them in every corner of the world, and easily became a household names in the long-term. If they want to solely develop their young player, they will just buy club in around Europe & South America, where their football competition level is only 1-2 grade lower than their top level champion, not in India & USA, where its arguably 4-5 grade lower. Theres no use searching for talent there, the best talent in India is arguably worse than an average talent in Europe. And with that low level of football competition, its almost impossible to grow top level player there, they will just think its easy & become lazy. No competition there for them. They do it because they know it, sone of those clubs are for scouting & developing players (mainly Africa, South America, Europe, and maybe USA & Australia) and some of those are for market, popularity, & profit development (mainly Asia or even some Africa & USA).

If Melburnians were interested in city pride they'd already be Melbourne Victory supporters or support one of the old NSL clubs from Melbourne. All well and good if Melbourne City were Melbourne's first AL club. As it is, there's no tribalism separating their identity from Victory's beyond City carrying the "City" brand and wearing an imitation of Man City's kit. Could be handy for a Man City fan in Victoria who's new to the A-league, great as long as you're winning titles, but hardly seems sustainable identity wise. Not to mention, CFG took away Melbourne Heart's "traditional" red and white as home colours.

No 2nd division team in another country that is basically a U21 team so the fanbase has to deal with the possibility of relegation without the hope of promotion or continental play.
