📍 Frank and Nancy met in 1934 in New Jersey. Frank 19 Nancy was 17 years old.
They got engaged almost immediately but in the years that followed they didn't really see each other as Sinatra worked non-stop.
When Nancy realized that Frank had cheated on her with another woman, she wanted to end their relationship, but she vowed that there would be no more. Nancy forgave him and married him. In September 1950, a restraining order was issued against Nancy, beating actress Ava Gardner, who was later married to Frank.

Nancy really was an attractive woman. She seemed like a smart woman too. I think its possible that if Frank was just an ordinary working stiff and not a celebrity they might have stayed together like other average couples. But the temptation and love of women got to him. He probably got married too young and didnt sew his wild oats. Some men never settle down. She said she didnt want him anymore , she couldnt deal with his affairs . Some men like to stay with their wives and have their "cake and eat it too." Maybe he would have liked that. But Nancy was too hurt. You cant blame her.

The thing is, their children must have absolutely loved it. Nancy's self respect didn't depend on Frank's behavior. She chose to be a good mother and good person regardless of Frank's character flaws. It has taken me a long time to see how much strength, self respect and discipline this takes. Each case of divorce is different and this arrangement would be improper in some cases but in this case, it seems good. Nancy won - kept her head above the fray. That means her children won too.

I've never understood what any woman saw in Frank Sinatra. Other than his voice he just came across as a mean person without humor or personality to offset that meanness. Now, Dean Martin on the other hand had great looks, humor and personality and his voice was icing on the cake.

"He came across" was used appropriately because those who were close to him knew him as a very caring and generous man. If I had my way I would have flamed out beautiful and died young rather than betrodden with illness and looking like a crone, nobody wants to go out this way. We all want to go when we've done our best but the world has other plans, we are meant to stay for our own learning or to help others. I'm stuck helping others, I would rather just go. I am ill enough to just go now but God has a different plan. You get stuck on the people you have chemistry with but true love is day to day dealing with good and bad issues and still going forward despite whatever happened in the past.

Nancy was such a great example of feminine dignity. You can’t control or predict what a man does. But you can control how you react. Being bitter and vengeful is understandable and even fun, but it’s best not to let anything pull you out of character. You can regret the situation, but there’s nothing to regret about staying classy. Many people internalize the shameful things others do to them. But Nancy kept her pride throughout everything and never wanted pity. It’s so admirable and rare. Frank should’ve never left her. 😒

@@lindseyl5842 Yeah, I agree. I didn't mean to sound old-fashioned. For me, what makes people like Nancy more worthy of admiration is that they don't allow other people to embarrass them. Their divorce will always be known as a loss for Frank, and that's mostly due to how dignified Nancy was before and after all the scandals. I'm definitely not saying that I, in any way, accept or expect Frank's impulsive immaturity in his marriage. I'm just pointing out that Nancy could have easily sold secrets and tabloids to get revenge on him and Ava for hurting her family. But she chose not to. She walked away with her pride, despite a humiliating and powerless marriage. She kept control of herself and her perception, even when she couldn't control anything else. I don't know how I would do that without becoming a train wreck.

My dad's sister, could have and was a time or 2,mistaken for Ava Gardner. Until sbout the age of 5 or so, i thought she was Ava, and just stayed in town between pictures . She also led a tumultuous life. Ava was one of the best and most amazing actresses in the Business. It's a shame she didn't find any escape from the drama in her life both on the screen her in her private life.

Nancy, was a classy woman. Frank let his ego overrule his good sense. Ava Gardner was more beautiful, but she was a drunk and she aged very badly and lost her beauty. Nancy ended up looking and smelling like a rose.

Nancy had little self esteem. She far outdid Ava as a woman in so many way. Beauty fades but virtue grows. Frank was a fool.

Wonderful video!!!! Sorry but if I was Franks first wife, I would not be cooking him dinner, letting him come and go as he likes in my home, but I guess she was always in love with him, and was reliant on him for money, as for his affair and marrying Ava, there is an old saying what goes around, comes around!!!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

I don’t think that she needed his money because she made out well in the divorce. I just think that she never stopped loving him and hoping that they would reunite one day and that’s why she always kept the door open for FAS.

It is notoriously hard to stay faithful in Hollywood, especially when you reach a pinnacle of popularity--and women just throw themselves at men (and vice versa).

this video jumps around way too much && leaves out SOO much information about Frank, Nancy & Ava. They were all wonderful people, everyone has their flaws even if its right or wrong but this video doesn't even shine on half of their lives, true fans know what's up lol

Sinatra was a talented singer/actor. He was also an extremely promiscuous, hard-drinking man. Ava Gardner was simply an extremely promiscuous hard-drinking woman. James Kaplan in his definitive biography on Frank called her "a beautiful nihilist". She achieved nothing of value, apart from her endless quest for gratification. She ruined many marriages, including her own. She drove Frank to near-suicide. Ironically he made his greatest music, because of his destructive relationship with Ava. Eventually, he dropped her as her drinking and wanton behaviour got wilder. Her excesses destroyed her looks and she died alone aged 67. Nancy Sinatra behaved with enormous dignity throughout Frank's shabby behaviour. She never remarried and didn't write any kiss and tell stories about her time with Frank. A lady of true dignity. Even Frank regretted his treatment towards her. She outlived both of them for many years.

Both Nancy and Ava were too good for Frank. No need to pit the women against each other when there's clearly one person who should receive the weight of the blame.
