The Royal We has helped Millions to escape the grip of narcissistic abuse. Here’s a deeper look into what narcissistic abuse looks like and steps to heal from it:
Narcissistic abuse looks like:
Lack of Empathy: Narcissists often show little to no empathy for others, making it easy for them to manipulate and exploit. Narcissists use various tactics such as gaslighting, love bombing, and devaluation to control and dominate their victims.
Common Tactics Used in Narcissistic Abuse:
Gaslighting: Making the victim doubt their own reality and sanity.
Love Bombing: Showering the victim with excessive attention and affection to gain control.
Devaluation: Undermining the victim’s self-worth through criticism, belittling, and emotional neglect.
Isolation: Cutting the victim off from their support systems to increase dependency on the abuser.
Triangulation: Using others to create jealousy or competition, keeping the victim feeling insecure.

I'm an RN, I was working once in a geriatric hospital, there were two very old sisters, one of them in a wheel chair, the other one was always to her side, the one in the wheel chair had an evil look in her eyes, she was constantly dropping a handkerchief to the floor, and the other sister will pick it up over and over, I believe she was a psycho, torturing her sister all her life. One day the good sister died and I felt she finally was at rest . Narcissist will do that to people around them, unless you escape. Yes sometimes they die from their own stressors, but that's not always the case, because they really want to kill you.

Agreed, they will inject their venom into others. Kevin is right about them sharing their inner suffering, though they sometimes are successful enough that they actually live a full life by seeing others wear their suffering and therefore they sidestep some stress-related issues. It is when others resist taking on the narcissist's stress that results in the narcissist is at risk for heath problems and a shorter life.

Everyone who remained in proximity to my narc father is deceased or chroniclly ill/ disabled: mom - terminal cancer. Older brother - terminal cancer. Younger sister - stroke at age 40. Younger half sister: autoimmune deficient. Younger half brother: knee surgeries under age 30. Family dog: banished to live (and die) in the garage after I moved away for college and the new wife didn't want him in the house. Started the process of going NC in my early 30's when I sensed something was off with my parent and finally cut the cord a few years ago when it became obvious rhat he ENJOYED hurting me. No illness here that I know of, keeping my fingers crossed.

My ex was a hardcore narcissist. He would pop in and out of my life whenever he was in crisis. I didn't know what narcissistic abuse was at the time. He was a drug addict. He loved the fringe of society in general. As a former family scapegoat I was primed to have weak boundaries, poor self-esteem, and deep feelings of inadequacy. Thus my ex and I were the perfect codependents. Finally about 2.5 years ago after 10 long years of the push and pull of this toxic relationship, I Finally told him to F*** Off for good. He was murdered in some drug related issue 2 months later. As crazy as it sounds, Oddly his facebook profile often pops up on my list....I often think it's his energy reaching out to me from beyond the grave...

After I found out I was grossly betrayed, i developed heart palpitations. After that an infection started in my breast and the doctors thought I had inflammatory breast cancer. I was honestly relieved that I’d likely die and escape this lifetime of pain. Turned out that it was just a nasty infection. Had surgery to have part of my breast removed and the healing was very slow. I’m still stuck married to this demon because of financial difficulties and not wanting to share custody of my children He’s so unhealthy but will probably live a long life because that just seems to be my luck. Time will tell, and I’ll continue to endure. I know vengeance belongs to God and it will be served, one day.

Read 1 Samuel 25, and realize that you're living in a situation like Abigail was. No doubt Nabal was a narcissist, but she didn't let his foolishness destroy her or her household. She used discernment and was spiritually mature, she knew he wasn't going to change and focused on how she could thrive despite her husband. And Nabal definitely didn't live a long life, most narcs truly don't. But they'll stress years off of your life if you let them, DON'T let them. Guard your heart, just as The Most High tells us to (emotional detachment, studying scripture, and imprecatory prayer have been helpful for me).

Death has multiple meanings in this context. Death can also mean being completely rejected by everyone. My ex narc, a medical doctor, has been fired 4 times, evicted several times, spent all her money living a fake life, all her sisters moved to a different state, convicted of reckless driving multiple times, she has gained over 50lbs and currently lives with her elderly mom that can't see that her daughter is crazy. In a few more years, she won't be much different than a zombie on the walking dead. Avoid them and don't get bit. The good news is that after you've been with a narc they are easy to spot just like the zombies in TWD. Stay safe everyone.

I am older than my malignant narcissistic former sister and probably in poorer health. But, when I last saw her, my thought was that she may predecease me. She is under sooo much stress, she looked rabid. That is one fckd up human being! And the thing about it, is if she wasn’t so busy being obsessed with how she’s going to undo my life, she wouldn’t be about to burst. But she’s about ready to give up her home and her freedom, just to get at me. And, although I don’t want to give myself any credit really, she is probably under stress also, because she knows she may have burned the only bridge she has. But, it isn’t possible for her to even have any idea on how things could’ve been different. She’s also so afraid I won’t leave her anything when I pass - but now, she’s made sure of it, because I wouldn’t leave anything to a person who’s abusive towards me. I don’t have much. But I don’t have a problem with her working till she drops. I probably will anyway. Why should I care about her. And she may be the 3rd narcissist that I did themselves, trying to take me out. While I recognize this, however, I don’t have empathy. Someone the others day tried to shame me, in a comments section, because I said something about my narcissistic sister. Said I must have a problem, too, if I feel the way I do about her. I’ll make it clear, that I don’t feel bad, about wishing someone ill, who’s tried to undo my life. Good luck guilting me. I also hope my sister does pass away sooner, rather than later. I don’t think narcissists are of use to themselves, as much as they are of no use, to the people in their lives. I get that way about our mother. Although she died of natural causes, as her narcissism grew exponentially, she started destroying herself, while trying to destroy me also. After that, I feel there’s really nothing to do, but to pass away. Kevin is right. While these people cause tons of stress around them, they’re also under a great deal of stress. All of that control, abuse, coercion, strategizing on how to screw up people’s lives without getting caught and paying consequences, being hollow inside, having to always compensate, by gaining and holding onto supply and, once they’ve discarded supply, trying to get new supply or reigning old supply back in, often knowing full well they live life wearing a mask? Not a life I’d want!

I have often asked my daughters narcissistic and psychopatic mother how she can live inside her prejudiced name calling, negative, evil, revengeful, competitive, rageful and toxic mind?? I have also told her there is neither good nor bad outside of her. Its your own mind I said to her making the decision what you make out of it...what did I get out of it: more rage fits and more name calling...narcs are impossible and dying too early, even when they are alive...I have left the monster more than a year ago but my daughter is still with her narc mother...its heartbreaking to see the mothers sick nonsense being transferred to my daughters mind, soul and spirit

Time is passing. The ages of narcs that immediately came to mind: 89, 88, 82, 70, 69, 64, 64, and 62. I’m 63 and have developed COPD, Lupus, and fibromyalgia. I’ve thought for years that my poor health is due to narcissistic abuse. Some people might ask how and why do I know so many narcissists? A more appropriate question may be Why are there so many narcissists in the world??? One expert I follow estimates one out of six people. Another expert I follow estimates one in five.

I felt so alone as my mother’s caretaker. So many would tell me “She can’t help her personality, She has a serious health problem”. I tried to tell them that her cruel remarks have been thrown at me since I could remember. I still respected her wish to pass away at home on hospice. I completely agree my health problems are caused by stress ❤️💪🏻

It's funny, Narcissistic people are mentally ill, but unlike all other mental illnesses narcissistic mental illnesses is vilified even though all mentally ill people are unhealthy to be in a relationship with not just narcissists. Narcissistic Personality Disorder is a very serious mental disorder that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, I just wish people understood that. It's so easy to judge and I understand how hard it is to be in a relationship with a narcissist but people don't just wake up one day and decide to treat people badly, there's a reason for it even though it is undeserved.

However- how do we know as for me, the last 2 years I literally couldn’t think or as of forgot while speaking- crazy looking back- this thing I’ve become? Recently moved in with son now and immediately within few days I felt alive and with clarity! It was him that kicked me out cuz I was shitty person? However this started back when step mom moved in family- my real mom passed- but for the life of me- fought what’s going on was not true…. Now family don’t want nothing to do with me…. Hurts really bad. Story goes on though- since this narcissist came to me a few yrs ago/ this had me from falling any further to believing them all…. But now that I’m here , I see a lot of my flaws and wondered if somehow I’m idk- I miss my dad my brothers- 😢 yes I need my family, my sons are too with them. Being deaf and blind, I’m much better focused alone , got a lot of self necessities done too! God has been my strength and hopes are happening! Anyways- my question is how do I know it’s not me?

that may be true, but often they outlive their victims. Yes they do develop heart disease, but medicine will assist to extend their lives, e.g. stents and bypasses. Then they might go on to develop Alzheimer's' and dementia, but still live on making their family's lives a misery, of those who were never able to move away and go no contact. Your father may have been an exception, usually I think it is the victims who die young.

Maybe some of them will die earlier, indeed the more vulnerable+control combination narcs. All narcs no matter the type will end up their lives unhappy, spoiled and mean. But a big part of the narcs have one lifelong relationship + runs officially on paper succesfull their own buisness with high education untill the end + keep their family together their whole life, especially the grandiose narcs. I witnessed it by myself in my environment more times. They make it in life till their death both in work and family, and all this people stay whole the life of the narc around the narc if they play grandiose in a "positive" way and image, beside the sometimes at times one person who dont play their game and can see through the narcs' mask, at that times the narc will kick out that person out of their family-or work or people system, while others barely remark it and live together with the fantasy of that grandiose narc. Only in the very end of the narc life they become very angry and extreme and in more open way mean, so they die never in peace. And all people will feel a suddenly unexpected freedom after the narc died, and find out that they were whole their lives hanging at the narcs lips and thought they adored the narc, but it was only conditional and without authenticy and without real felt freedom. Their victims who they sometimes in their life kicked out will suffer with mental problems and physical problems far more, the difference: the victims are able to work at themselves after the hidden abuse, stay with themselves and can become authentic, work out the stress and learn to make deeper connections after healing, the narc cant or will never do that or wont take that self-responsibility.

This is a strange thing to say " narcissists die young" I disagree. Narcissists dont die young. Narcissists are like everyone else in tjis respect some die young some die old. My malignantly narcissistic parents are still alive in their seventies and still wreaking havoc in my siblings lives. I also know many other old narcissists. If anything I've seen that most family scapegoats die young.
