If you wanna alternative of a capital city then the Hingna-Butibori developing agro-industrial area of Nagpur fulfills the criteria. Hyderabad and Bangalore are no longer a small meteropolis infact they have become a large megapolis. So turning them into a capital may make them like another Delhi. New capital must need a relatively less settled area like Nagpur, Raipur, Bhopal.

Nagpur is the best bet. Else some small city in that range, Viz., Ballarshah, Adilabad, Nanded or Bidar can be developed. But once we decided upon that, The Govt. should ensure that the Capital should remain mainly an Administrative & Legislative Capital, Consists mostly of Govt. Officials. I would recommend the Supreme Court should be located away from the Capital. Administrative & Legislative Capital in Nagpur and the Supreme Court in Delhi with Benches in Kolkatta, Nagpur/Mumbai and Chennai/Bangalore. In the Capital City, we Should limit Business or Commercial investments.

See it's like when there is a capital people migrate to that capital to get better opportunities in life as a result population increases, after that people settle and they buy vehicles for themselves as a result pollution and traffic increases And when there is a lot of crowd there is unemployment also so crime increases. Judicial Capital should be in eastern India (kolkata/Bhubaneswar/Guwahati/ Patna) so that there can be better access to east asian countries which are very developed. And integration of northeast into India is indeed a very big challenge since independence I termed judicial capital as financially western India is much more well off than eastern India ,so changing that will be extremely tiresome . Thats right brother... to increase importance of Delhi, GoI established all kind of economic activities as well as facilities there. People from nearby state started migrating there from 60's. If they had implemented uniform diffusion of development and facilities across the north India region and restricted over-settlement of new population around Delhi by proper town planning, the Delhi must have been much better today.

South India is generating 30% industrial business revenue and also is quite central location to BIMARU states. Also, it is not so easy to be attacked by enemies even it is near to sea from both sides Arabian / Indian Ocean. Industry / people/ business can all sort of facility to grow and help in overall GDP growth. Sea / Rail / Land - is no doubt is better. To make development in all states equally, centre must have Hawk’s / Falcon eye from a geographically central location of the country - that is MUST.

This is a very good question that you have raised. Not just national capital, many state capitals should also be moved from the cities which have become overcrowded and too large/ populous. (examples- Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Dehradun). I believe Maharashtra's capital should be moved to Ahmednagar or Aurangabad (a very central location) or a new city near Pune. I think headquarters of most of PSUs and nationalised banks should also be moved out of Mumbai. That would also release some pressure on Mumbai. Mumbai has two zonal HQs of Indian Railways- which can be easily moved to Surat and Pune. The capital of WB, TN, KA, UK should be moved to Durgapur, Trichy, Davanagere, and Roorkee from Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Dehradun respectively. We should adopt American policy of basing capitals in small cities. For example- the capital of New York state is not New York City. It is Albany. Similarly, the capital of California is not Los Angeles, San Fransico or San Jose. It is Sacramento. None of the big American cities is a capital of any entity.

I think we should start with moving provincial capitals to smaller cities, then 25-30 years later, with lessons learnt from moving provincial capitals we can move the national capital as well. After all, it won’t make political sense to abandon to desert newly built parliament and central vista so soon. As far as pollution is concerned, it will come down because soon (in 10 years or so) world will start moving towards electric vehicles and that will bring down air pollution in big cities drastically.
