On his show today, Simms literally said if you don’t throw enough interceptions, it means you’re not trying hard enough to make your team win …. - So if Purdy throws an interception, it’s bc they’re bad throws. - But if Josh Allen does it, it’s only bc he wants his team to win … Riiight …

He's going to put up stellar stats and performances again this season. The only thing that matters is how 49ers management and Purdy himself view things. Purdy won't want to go to another team and start over again, and the 49ers don't want to be looking for a replacement QB1. This contract will be settled quickly imo, a long term contract that satisfies both parties. Neither side will want to drag this one out.

Simms just doesn't strike me as an intelligent person, let alone in a football sense. He may know the game to a certain point, but his general level of intelligence brings him down a few notches in any so-called analysis he provides. There are 'analysts' with careers, because like in most career fields, it can often be about who you know and are networked with rather than one's level of competence. He strikes me as one of these guy that was connected and in the right place at the right time. I also wouldn't doubt that a few of these 'analysts' like Nick Wright are also gaining viewership because they know that there is a significant cottage industry that involves maligning, or downplaying Brock Purdy's accomplishments. So much is analytics driven these days. Most don't care about anything other than gaining traction on their content. If that means they can corner the market on having a certain predictable take on Brock Purdy, they know they'll always show up high in the search results for nearly anything 'Brock Purdy.' They know that people will keep tuning in to either hate or support the take they have on Purdy. Not a perfect analogy but there is some similarity to how Howard Stern got such high ratings in the '90s before Sirius signed him. When polls were done and Stern listeners were asked why they listened to him, the people who hated Stern said, "to hear what he was going to say next." Likewise, the polls also indicated that those who liked Stern tuned in for the same reason.."to hear what he was going to say next." A lot of folks tune to into Nick Wright just so they can comment on how asinine some of his takes are. In the end, he and his teams of analysts still get the clicks. They'll milk it until those udders have dried up.

I think that Brock needed to be perfect to get credit from certain doubters in the media. And even if he'd been perfect there would still be equivocation. Partly because it was his first year starting. But also bc Brock doesnt have the birthright of being a first round pick with a cannon for an arm.

😂 Agree, analysts don't give Brock his due. He played at high level ever since drafted. Because he doesn't have measurebles. He's a gamer. He's has intangibles. How many QB with measurebles that bust do far. Jets Wilson, Bears Fields, Pats Jones, Niners Trey. All drafted high. But didn't live up to their potential. Even, if he wins SB. He will need to win multiple SB. Like Brady, didn't get his due for a while. Brock shouldn't get highest pay on Niners. This is a team sport. A QB is very important. But Kyle has gotten to SB with Jimmy n Ryan, both not considered elite. Brock is very good. He uses his quick processing n ability to make off schedule plays to win. But he's not Mahomes. Not many QBs are. He's better than Dak n Hurts. Brock should be like Brady, not take highest pay, so team can spend on rest of the team. Brock needs stars on offense n defense too.

I would hope that Purdy negotiates a team friendly salary. Lets say he gets 15% of the overall salary cap for 2024 that would still be $38M. That would be team friendly and still a lot of dough. I think Tom Brady was averaging about 17% of the cap for the latter half of his career. Brady has made a boat load through endorsements. Drew Brees played 20 seasons and made $250 million in salary. I think of Kirk Cousins who is very good and has always gotten top dollar. Now Atlanta is already looking to replace him.

That's how statistics work. You dont hit all the deep shots. Considering he led the league in deepball passing accuracy im giving him a pass. And all that mattered was he was accurate when he needed to be against GB and Detroit. The Ravens game was his worst game. Did you expect it to look better?
@johnbull1568
@johnbull1568 11 күн бұрын
Our kicker failed against the Browns, Purdy threw less game ending interceptions than the Packers QB, and he put up the best half game performance by any QB ever against the Lions, as in *all* QBs in every playoff ever played. As for the Ravens game, it turned out to count for nothing apart from gifting Lamar the most undeserving MVP award ever, and the Superbowl loss was on a bunch of other factors that didn't involve Purdy. If we're judging QBs by bad performances, then they all have them.
