North Korean strategy seems to focus on delivering one blow as hard as they can, ie strategic deterrence, rather than fighting a war of attrition. Minimising opportunities for the enemy to take out that capability with a first strike is vital to the success of such a strategy.

Despite these notable upgrades, I think we should not expect that these will change the balance of naval power between the US/South Korea and North Korea significantly. The NK Navy will still be in an inferior position; investing in a large fleet of surface ships is not worth it in terms of cost and efficiency. If they want to achieve balance at sea, the best way is to continue to invest heavily in attack submarine technology - the Russians can help on this point - and build them in large numbers to gradually replace the old Romeo submarines. In addition, NK should continue to build new fast attack crafts, coastal submarines and corvettes, promoting its role as a coastal, green-water navy.

A modern looking hull with The forward secondary guns mounting looks similar to the Horizon Class of DDG and the after FC Radar and SAM(MANPAD) mount and CIWS looks like the FC Radar and SAM launchers from USN eary mid cold war CG conversion of WWII Cruisers even if not by design it's those have a strange ship from two different time periods

thanks for this info. North Korean Navy info is so hard to find. surface fleet stuff even more rare than their sub info. I can't find any real specs for these NK ships for my naval wargame boardgame club. Lots of NK propaganda and pictures with no real substance. your videos are the only stuff I can only find obscure future Asian naval ship info This is great stuff so that we can add North Korean ships and subs to our naval boardgame fleets. There are 2 of the ship of similar class from Nampo For convenience i will call 1 black & the other I will call white because of how their deck is painted In satellite photography from November 2023 White has disappeared which would indicate it has been moved to operational service which is odd because the photography looks more like black but the top is white This is very confusing It can’t be the one from Rason as satellite photography shows that it was Still undergoing fitting out in October and the missiles was not installed Black seems to have a round front gun which the one from the photo does not have it also has ~30 yards from missiles to Stern but White only has ~20 yards black is 2 yards longer All 3 modern Corvettes seem to be A different length based off satellite photography 2 (1 Nampo 1 Rason) seem to have been originally built to carry helicopters
