Why not use Schedule 40 PVC pipe instead of Central Vac tubing?

Good advice as always. I use a mitre saw to cut my tubing as the blade gives a pretty smooth edge with the need to do little to no deburring. I always find it funny that to typically unclog a central vacuum it takes a portable vacuum to do it. A simple Shop-Vac or Ridgid at around $100 is the fix-it of central vac's clogs. I guess you could use the power unit too but they are incredibly awkward to carry around, especially those behemoths MD makes. Reading through other comments Panasonic Vac said one of the clogs in his system was so impacted they took a plumber's snake to finally unclog it.

How about SCH40 for a hide-a-hose system? There is a hose that goes through the pipe rather than the dirt directly.
