I wouldn't pit a Harrower vs a Nebula SD. Same with Venator vs Nebula. Tech got better but was overall stagnant after a certain point.
@Jenn-lq9yu4 жыл бұрын
@@alexporter7379 The Harrower actually is better armed than a Nebula in some ways. It has better raw turbolaser firepower, and better point defense systems, plus it requires much less crew. That being said, the advanced Ion Cannons on the Nebula would even out the fight quite a bit. If the Nebula can land its Ion cannons, it wins 10/10 times versus the Harrower. But if the Harrower can avoid the Ion Cannons, I'd give the win to the Harrower I'd say 7/10 times.

Likewise, the Nebula has an additional 40 medium turbolasers, whereas the secondary armament of the Harrower are laser cannons. To further add insult to injury, the Nebula was known to be able to go toe to toe with ESSD's, and while they might not win individually, a flotilla of them are able to knock it out of the fight.

They had the right mindset going into the battle, their biology, including their eyesight, was naturally adapted to their dark planet, they had superior knowledge on planetary hazards, and all their equipment, the combat drugs, the plasma, the droids, the tanks, the fighters, all were superior despite us having the most powerful weapons. I hear that the only reason that we even won that battle in spite of the issue in the chain of command, was due to a couple of 501st disobeying orders. If you go by the official report, it doesn't mention that they stole some captured starfighters and snuck into a reactor core. Our main advantage was numbers. The Empire actually started using Umbaran tech, and from the sounds of it, had a fairly cordial relationship with Umbara. I always like to think of Umbara as a hiccup in Palpatine's plan since he didn't orchestrate the senate murders, which is why he full sends republic forces and makes sure that the CIS are unable to land troops on the planet to reinforce the heavily outnumbered and outgunned Umbarans. This is also backed up by the fact that the Empire, unlike the republic, was perfectly happy to allow Umbara to be independent, and it was rebel aggression which saw Umbaran tech being stolen and used against imperial civilians that forced the Empire to occupy the planet.

They focus pretty much only on Star Trek & Halo for each. They do a non main subject vid maybe every 100th vid. They both do tech videos that are crazy, crazy, wild in depth. At the end of his ship, weapon or any other videos I know if someone wearing larger than a size 12 shoe can not fly it or you need to know spanish to interact with the computer. It would be nice to see star wars tech vids like that sometimes. Like say a spacecraft. Like to know all I wanted about the Imperial Shuttle I had to watch Spacedock (other than rairly showing cut aways, he may do the most detailed ship vids), yours, Ecks, Generation Tech, Nerd Cookies and more. I had to read books, and all sorts of stuff to still not know all I want. Videos in Star Wars covering anything spend half the time telling me things I don't really want. Comparison to a ship close but not the same with way too much info on the other ship to give that comparison. Too much info on the builder of the ship and that cultures background when that should be its own video. I want all sorts of information and visiuals that are always left out. Like angle photos, action video, cut away photos. What material everything is made of & what parts may be interchangable from other ships? Does it have a toilet (hahah always skipped in scifi) for long trips or is it short haul only? Is there anything limiting to outside cultures or alien bodies flying it? What language is the computer programmed in? Was the actuation arm for the proton bomb bay cold forged or CNC? Is it Durasteel, transparent aluminium or carbonized magnesium? Maybe not that level of detail for every single component but as much as possible on a topic with no fluff or side track stories. Do you know what I mean?

Ok like the Millennium Falcon is the most detailed and storied ship in all of the Star Wars gallaxy. In TESB, 3PO starts to say " Sir your computer communicates in the most paculiar dialect but..." or something like that. Then in Solo we get that L3-37 got shot and downloaded into the ship (don't get me started). Now we know this amazing navigational bank, self aware, opinionated, borderline human hating, violent droid is in the ship. Half the time the hyperdrive is out it could be her being pissed off at Han. Han's amazing piloting, shor cut finding, dodging asteroids, stopping on a dime behind a star destroyer is her augmentation to his piloting. She was rude and direct as a robot so she is rude and direct to C3-PO. That information, action video, profile photos, a cutaway photo, how it pushed cargo, escape pods, hidden cargo spots, we know where it was built, who it was built by, who has owned it, it's part of a modular line...on and on. However, I even from a cut a way I have seen do not know where the main cargo hold is. Is there a bathroom? Can you cook on it? What are all the weapons besides the cannons top, bottom and pop out one seen on Hoth? How much cargo can it haul? How much does it weigh? It can go in space, enter atmosphere, can it go under water? Can it withstand enough heat to get close to a star? Is it big enough to hold any sort of very small ship? If so can it's cargo doors open to release it in space? I have never seen one video that contained all the information that we know exist about this one ship together without fluff and detour info, plus the information I do not know. The information exist on almost everything in Star Wars if you mix Canon and legends info to make a tech video on a particular item, living thing or place to be the most detailed comprehensive video made. Instead everyone just picks a few prime facts comparing it to a similar thing and move on.

Another reason could become palpatine didn't want either side to have the technology because if the republic and the C.I.S. had gotten their hands on it either side could end the war before palpatine was ready for it to end. Perhaps that's why he didn't have the republic salvage any of the umbaran technology after recapturing the planet. Sidious/palpatine also probably had sly moore make sure the tech didn't fall into the hands of either side.

With the Umbarain Walker you forgot that it can also use a Electric Vaporizing Lightning weapon to take out many infrantry Units also too. The Hover Umbara tank would alao benefit the CIS Army.

I don't think the Umbaran technology was actually more advanced than most of the galaxy, just that they had different preferences with what they had. Ball lightning-esque projectiles, for instance, are things we see elsewhere, including large scale ion weaponry like the Seperatist battleship at the start of the series and the ion bomb partway through, as well as on the smaller scale with cultures seen as being relatively primitive like the Gungans. The plasma ball guns are fairly powerful with single shots, but they're also bulky, unwieldy, have a relatively low rate of fire, and appear to have a significant delay between the weapon being activated and the weapon actually firing. It wouldn't surprise me if it's a technology already known to the rest of the galaxy, but which isn't used because when push comes to shove, "conventional" weapons are more practical. (And there may be something about Umbara specifically that makes their tech more practical there than it would be in most other places.) I'm also sceptical that the Republic would consider berserker gas to be a bonus. Such narcotics usually come with downsides when it comes to tactical reasoning, and one of the big advantages of biological sapient soldiers in Star Wars is that they can usually outthink droids. Berserker chemicals, especially when used in an abrupt fashion across a fighting force that's already at war and hasn't had time to adjust to them, could end up doing more harm than good even if they had the same effect on clone biology as they did on the Umbarans.

Why didn't Umbaran military tech get adapted and put into widespread use in the Republic and Empire after the fall of Umbara? To clarify, I understand the Umbaran's were secretive of their technology and capabilities but after the planets downfall, what prevented the Republic from capturing acquiring and adapting the tech?

Umbara's Campaign is a combination of the nightmarish guerrilla warfare style of Vietnam and civil wars in Middle East and Latin America with the insane speed of the Blitzkrieg tactics used by Nazi Wehrmacht against France and England at the start of WWII in the european theater (best example would be how the Wehrmacht completely distracted both forces in Belgium fronts, meanwhile they launched a surprise attack from the Ardennes, trapping them in a circular maneuver , decimating French forces and forcing the British to make a last desperate naval escape in now popular Dunkirk incident), and also the better technology they had. For the first time in the Clone Wars, the GAR was outmatched in quality. Also, Umbara's geography doesn't helps too much. The planet itself looks terrifying, it looks like Satan's hell, without lava, but it gives too many negative emotions that is perfect for psychological warfare. And I'm completely sure that if the CIS actually deployed their droid hordes, the Republic would have been so decimated they would have been forced to cancel the entire invasion and define the entire campaign as a failure. It would have been like how the Vietcong kicked the butt of the US Army during Vietnam War in real history, but amplified to the next level. What I love about Umbara's arc is that it shows that no matter how advanced is the Republic, no matter how close they were to start the Outer Rim Sieges after so long of having to be in the defensive against the droid hordes, no matter how much experience our bois in black and white and "heroes" had until this point, the difficulty of war never changed. Always being brutal, giving the lesson that in conflict, you can't never drop your guard.

Ive always wondered why Umbaran war tech was so advanced and why they didn't use it to become a galactic super power. I kinda came to the conclusion that maybe it's because these technologies are too expensive to mass produce. They may have only a few, or at most enough, of this tech to defend their homeworld but it would be far too costly to make enough to conquer another planet.
