Yep. Even before it was cancelled, the artists who worked with him on it washed their hands of him and jumped ship when they heard about what he did. The comic's former colorist put out a Tweet in which she said, regarding the first of Esquivel's victims to come forward, "The way he treated her was disgusting and inexcusable." And he has the gall to portray random whites in his comic as sexual predators? It sounds like, if he wanted to write himself into the book, he has more in common with the pervy vice principal than with Frank.

@@finalmidnight they literally have some guy (whose guns where made from the Angel of Death's blade, making him be able to kill anything) kill every angel in Heaven, then God himself. I didn't read the comics, but found those pages online when researching that particular character. I don't plan on reading it or watching the show, but won't be trying to cancel it like those sjw snowflakes. It offends me as a Christian, but I can just do what Just Some Guy tells those sjw douches to do, and not read or watch the things I don't agree with. If someone enjoys it, that's their thing. But yeah, it's not for Christians and makes sure they know it. Though I will admit that the premise is interesting, just didn't like the ending and the fact that the main character, a Catholic priest, keeps wearing his priest attire after losing his faith. I'm looking at that not as a Christian calling it blasphemy, but as a writer not seeing how that makes sense. He can have the priest background, but to keep wearing the symbol of one's faith in God when he's lost it doesn't make any sense story-wise. If he wants to find God and punish God for allowing man to have freewill, giving him the choice of being good or bad, then he shouldn't be wearing the clothes of those who serve God. I may be rambling, but it's just me not being able to comprehend why the guy dresses like a priest when he basically hates God. Anyways, hope that shined some light on the series for ya.

"There was a time when this land unspoiled by borders, fear, or hate." Mesoamerican societies had borders, the Aztec Empire used fear to dominate large numbers of vassal states, and there was most certainly ethnic divisions and hate between different tribal groups. "-in massive golden cities that were so scientifically, artistically, and spiritually advanced that racist historians would rather believe they were designed by extraterrestrial intelligence than by the native population." No legitimate archaeologists or historians would ever support this position, but hilariously I've actually met Afrocentrists who believe the Aztec pyramids were built by Ancient Egyptians who boated over to the Americas then just left.

As I said in a comment a while back, the Aztecs were so "Spiritually advanced" that they performed hideous human sacrifices to their gods, which included cutting people's hearts out while they were still alive and cannibalizing them. As for living "Without borders, fear or hate," try going back in time and telling that to the smaller local tribes that the Aztecs violently conquered and enslaved (Complete with the Aztecs often having some of those slaves be used for the aforementioned human sacrifice rituals). A big part of the reason why the Spaniards conquered the Aztecs so easily was because they (The Spaniards) first secretly formed alliances with several of those enslaved tribes who were eager for a little payback and the chance to overthrow their oppressors.

We don't all come out liberal drones. People who do come out that way were obviously not taught about how ugly real contested boundaries are: South Sudan, North/South Korea and Israel/Palestine anyone? I googled that Eric Esquivel because I learned not to trust the classifications of "biracial" and "brown" and unless I am mistaken, I would say about this guy: "biracial and brown my ass!!!" I can totally belief that one of his parents is mexican and the other Irish because I know how "race-mixing" doesn't mean you are guaranteed to come out looking "mixed" and that there are plenty of white mexicans, but if this guy or anyone seriously thinks that he is not white but brown or in any way "racially ambigious" then I would recommend a long trip all throughout Europe. I will bet to you that you will find native Europeans who make this guy look even less Mexican than he already. That dude is white, he could march with a neo-nazi crowd if he would get rid of his earrings. I mean it, google Luke Pasqualino, Nik Xhelilaj, Daniel Rodic or Leandro Hladkowicz and tell me they are lighter than Eric Esquivel is.

No smoke can not set off a current fire sprinkler! What Can Accidentally Set Off A Fire Sprinkler System? You may be under the false impression that installing a fire suppression sprinkler system is to choose water damage over fire damage. However, the fact is that sprinklers are not set off by smoke and, unlike in the movies, the sprinkler heads don’t trigger all at once. If these myths were true, you would be in danger of soaking all your possessions and company’s assets just by burning a piece of toast in the break room. HOW FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS WORK Each individual sprinkler head is triggered automatically when the air rising to the ceiling reaches a fire-specific temperature of 155 to 165 degrees. Often, only one or two sprinklers are required to fully extinguish a building fire. Since sprinklers use only about one-sixth of the water from a fire hose, they cause much less water damage to your property than a visit from the fire department would. It’s true that early fire suppression sprinklers were unreliable and caused significant water damage when set off, but today’s sprinklers are more advanced. Still, accidental discharge is still possible. Aside from deliberate sabotage, consider the most common reasons sprinkler heads go off when they’re not intended to: ACCIDENTAL OVERHEATING Sprinklers located near heaters, skylights, and other areas of high heat can cause the fire sprinkler heads to discharge by accident. To prevent this, high-temperature-rated sprinklers are required. These activate at 200 to 300 degrees. If new heat sources are added to an existing building, the sprinklers should consequently be adjusted. FREEZING Most sprinkler systems are wet pipe systems, meaning the pipes are full of water. If the pipes freeze, the expanding ice produces thousands of pounds of pressure, sometimes enough to break fittings and force valve caps open. When the system thaws, water may discharge from the sprinkler. As a preventative measure, special types of systems can be installed in areas subject to freezing. MECHANICAL DAMAGE Forceful installation can damage a sprinkler’s operating mechanism, potentially causing the parts to come loose weeks or months later. To prevent this, a knowledgeable professional using the proper tools should perform the installation and regular inspection. CORROSION Very old sprinklers or systems installed in harsh environments are subject to corrosion, which weakens system parts and releases water. Regular inspection and testing can catch corrosion early and prevent unintentional discharge. since i do not have the Amerex fire books with me this excert from Kaffman co will have to do! (www.kauffmanco.net/blog/what-sets-fire-sprinkler-system-off/)

JUSTSOMEGUY you do a great job as always this is my theory: If people would just IDENTIFY as HUMAN first, Their GENDER second, their Nationality third and RACE last we would be all better off. You can have pride in your race and heritage, just not at the expense of anothers race or heritage, and ESPICALLY not to use your heritage as a SHIELD to prevent any honest criticisms of your work. Last time i checked there is ONE race, the human race. Soon as people STOP the tribalisation the better off we will all be.
@nathanjora7627
@nathanjora7627 5 жыл бұрын
Brian Urso honest peaceful question here : Why gender before nationality ? I mean, as far as I understand, nationality is, or should be, pretty much culture (meaning it’s the most important aspect of nationality. If you are English in papers, but hate everything that makes an English distinguishable from any random other guy, you being English doesn’t matter much to your identity, how you define yourself), and culture is much more important than gender in most civilized countries. I mean, wether you think genders and genitalia are one and the same, or wether you think they are two distinct attributes, I think you’ll agree your worldview on other humans beings, values, esthetic sense, historic and geographic background, are much more important than wether you think of yourself as male, female, or unicorn, don’t you ? So it should be human>culture/origin/nationality (pick the word you prefer)>gender>race (although honestly, I don’t really understand why either gender or race should matter. It’s important for research purposes, demography, stuff like that, but even if your gender and race will shape the way you socialize and therefore your personality, at the very least your race won’t influence much of « who » you are, independently of who other people think you are, or the impact it had on you.)

I read the story as well now and I think you should have mentioned that the author himself has that old crone say in issue 3 that the Aztec's knowledge came from "aliens", as basically that is what these gods are that the comic says the Aztecs had their knowledge from. Not to mention that it does say there was "child sacrifices" so actually plays it down what the Aztecs at that time did and dismisses it by claiming all empires were built on child sacrifices, just to claim that the god of the Spanish was a stolen God (thereby lying about history) and overall just dismissing the entire dark side of the Aztecs of the 16th century. You know, the irony is that the author might have had a better point if he had chosen an earlier time period, when the Aztecs were not yet all about sacrificing people and thereby angering their neighbors (something he also omits), but no, he chose them at the height of their blood thirst and acts like it is no big deal.

Hubert Calculus in answer to everyone’s input, they had an extensive road network, they used paving material (the “royal” roads had a layer of packed lime I believe), cleared vegetation, and connected cities. They were massive, and used extensively. There is archaeological evidence of them. There were no domesticated pack animals. Humans can pull a wheeled cart, sure, but it’s efficiency isn’t on par with them just carrying the items. You need pack animals. In Mesopotamia, there were cattle, camels, horses. In the Americas, llamas/alpaca, and those animals weren’t even available to the Aztec, nor could they pull the same load as the previous animals. The perceived lack of development isn’t caused by some cultural “deficiency”, but a deficiency in natural resources.

So, fun fact about the Aztecs, the lack of hard borders was on purpose. They kept loose but harsh rule on territories and cities around them, because this encouraged rebellion. Rebellions meant their army could capture enemy warriors(killing them in battle was often seen as clumsy and careless), so said warriors could be sacrificed in massive numbers at temples. They wanted their rivals to hate and fear them. This all backfired when those regions helped the Spaniards overthrow the empire to get revenge.

If Batman was ever racist, it was in a Frank Miller book. Fair shot it's the truth. But really, all this hypocrisy and forced racism in these books and complaints about "mah diversity" is just absolute nonsense. Marvel and DC comics have had some of the most diverse characters ever made that weren't pure Fantasy books. They pulled from every region in the world and tried to explore various cultural backgrounds while mainly focusing on the action and plot of each story. Again, just looking at the X-Men books is enough to shut down any argument about there being "no diversity". It's not that there's no diversity, their real problem is "There's too many white people". While failing to note that White people are the most numerous in the United States and most of Europe, where these comics sell. And most of the stories in them tend to focus on these two regions of the world, but still visit other countries, continents and outer space. It's this stuff that makes me cringe and also makes me feel sad for the industry and what it's doing. Especially those still trying to label Stan Lee as a racist and bigot after his death. Not only did he introduce a horde of diverse characters to comics, he even did several books of what DC characters would be like if made by him. And in Stan Lee's take on Wonder Woman, he changed her origin entirely from its original premise in DC. In Stan Lee's Wonder Woman, she is a native of Peru and gained her powers from a magical artifact belonging to an Incan Sun God. In essence, this character is more like the original Thor than Wonder Woman, since in Lee's original Thor books, it was a man named Donald Blake who found an object that turned out to be Mjolnir which transformed him into Thor. While Lee's take on Wonder Woman isn't exactly original, given the fact he's done this before, it was still an interesting way of creating a different kind of Wonder Woman with a mythical background completely removed from her original Greek one. Plus, her white and gold outfit rather worked. So from a design standpoint, it was pretty good. His loss still hits us, and it only hurts worse seeing 'writers' like this continue to bang on about racism and bigotry with their comics instead of just trying to tell a good story. A Good Story can save most things. It can make people look passed plot holes in books and movies. It can make people overlook sub-par art and poor graphics in video games. However, without good writing, structure and characters, no medium of entertainment can survive. It doesn't matter how pretty you make something look if the story and characters can't connect with the audience. Books like Bordertown just shove readers away. And no amount of virtue signaling will save it.

Well, about the Justice League comment at minute 14, the Justice League has historically been primarily or even exclusively whites and aliens. That was the explicit reason for the animated show using John Stewart as their Green Lantern and Cyborg being promoted to the adult team. Yes, Diana is Greek, but that's still European. Also, traditionally, Aquaman has been drawn with Nordic features. Either simply Blonde or as a full-out Viking. The actor doesn't change that completely.

I have never understood why these types of people can't enjoy anything unless the people look or sound exactly like them. I have a rare syndrome called Moebius Syndrome and never once have I seen a character, whether in a book, TV show, or movie, have it, and I don't expect too. As a writer I created a character who has it but it was just one aspect of him, it wasn't his whole reason for being. Creating characters that share personal characteristics you have or experiences you have gone through is fine, most great art comes from that, but the characters have to be more than their disabilities, race, sexual orientation etc, and the story can't revolve solely around it.

To begin with, the Aztecs were stupidly bloodthirsty, they made almost all other cultures pay them tribute, and enslaved or sacrificed their prisoners of war (of course the other cultures of Mesoamerica did that as well), they also made a change in the society of their time for warriors to be in the upper stratum of society.
