I like Josuke as both individual and character, because he feels the most normal yet most human. Like the only "straight man" within this crazy family three. He may look like an delinquent yet he is incredible sweet boy. Sure, he can get furious but usually goes for comical reasons or when someone he cares about gets hurts. As you mention, that cool dude that you feel you want to be friends with or root for him.

I love that after all the tension and conflict and always being on the edge of your seat in the first 3 parts, part 4 just calmly swoops in. Its a nice pitstop, a relaxing rest before you get right back into action with part 5.

Part 4 is always have a special place in my heart, because the cliche of "saving the world" feel so overused. That's why the more relaxed the plot is and how the climax is more "insignificant" (compared catching serial killer to stopping some numbnuts world conqueror) to other part, kinda felt like a breath of fresh air. Also, the way josuke and his friend just kinda fuck around morioh make the city felt more alive.

Josuke from part 4 is criminally underrated because he's the only Jojo who's relatable to every teenager and also the first one who got character development in 4 months during manga events (kinda Jonathan and Joseph were developing too but mostly in power ability). And not only MC but supporting characters as well. I can say I even love Jotaro in 4th part much more than in 3rd part. And also I love the fact Josuke combines all character traits of his Joestar relatives - trickster like father, brutal like nephew, kind like his great-grandfather (and his grandfather from mother's side)

Part 4 is easily my favourite. The characters and music is insane, i really like the more grounded and smaller setting and overall the vibe is just so much better to me. Also still so many simple stands. I just wish we got more and longer beatdown scenes of Josuke as his theme is out of this world

Hometown heroes are so under appreciated as a protagonist archetype. They often get a good well-received response as they should but people don’t always admit that’s a big part of the appeal of characters like Spider-Man (practically any major Spider-Person) and Josuke. Seeing Josuke just enjoy a video game when his mom is trying to get him to do chores until the threat of the arc pops up, or using an alien’s ability to gamble with a friend as his first idea. Relatability creates personal-hitting moments. Also “Kirby, God of Friendship” did bestow upon him the shape of a friend, so that helps. I mean the roundness of his pompadour follows design’s shape theory’s “round outlines convey approachable, friendly, cute, and so on.” He lacks major triangles or sharps in his silhoutte as a result too, so mainly just rounds and obtuse angulars make him up to be “enduring friend”.

Great video I really think! It's amazing that you connected Josuke's rebellion to the manga industry! I read in one of Araki's interviews that when he presented Josuke's design to one of his editors, the editor thought the pompadour was "out of style" at the time but Araki ignored his editors and decided to have Josuke keep the pompadour because he thought it made him all the more unique and included it to have sentimental value to Josuke. It's really interesting!

Josuke is the only jojo that acts his age and I think people neglect how important maturity and growth is to good characterization. Josuke throughout the series actually grows and makes mistakes. He isn’t perfect- and his struggle to overcome adversity seems real. Mf was 16 and acting like an actual teenager meanwhile Giorno at 15 BECAME HEAD OF THE MAFIA. That aspect of maturity and growtb corresponding with age is also why I like part 4 Jotaro more than part 3 Jotaro. Jotaro has always been cold and stoic but it is far better suited to his characterization when Jotaro is 28 rather than when he’s 17.

Everyone should go read/listen to JoJo’s 4th Another Day, the spin-off DiU sequel novel. While Josuke isn’t the main focus of the novel, he is in it and he has so many moments where he’s just a kind person just for the sake of being a kind person. He also has a really cool fight at the end where the main antagonist plays with his emotions…the whole novel is so, so great. (Also, my boy Okuyasu also gets his own fight which is INCREDIBLE)

Josuke is my favorite jojo BY FAR. He can be as cool and collected as Jotaro when he needs to be but the fact that he is an adolescent (a little bit like is his father Joseph) at heart gives Araki SO MUCH material to work with. He also have my favorite stand by a Jojo. If Joseph is the Bugs Bunny of the serie and Jotaro is the Clint Eastwood of the serie, Josuke is the spider-man of the franchise.

Josuke lives a similar situation that Johnathon has had, an invader in a place he considers his home. However, Josuke has many friends, a mentor figure and a very stable life to return to. It helped to keep him centered. Jonathon had the former two, but lost out on the latter when dio took his father and home. He was righteous in undoing dios fury, even at the cost of his life. Josuke would risk life and limb to protect what he has as Jonathon did, but he has much more behind him that it never has had to come to that.

i feel like josuke has so much missed potential. Not only is he a great character, hes also a great healer! every party needs a healer, and i dont mean to shit on giorno, but josuke is way better in the healing department. (thats because giorno's healing is incredibly painful (for example if you broke your spine he would have to get your broken spine out first before being able to replace it), while josuke can just touch someone for like 8 seconds and theyre good to go. both Brunos and Jolynes gang could have had great help from josuke, but hes _nowhere to be found._ ik he needs his education and all but cmon, cant he at least get _one more part?_ Crazy Diamond is also one of my favourite stands, so its sad that he doesent get to have a majour apearance again after part 4 (that im aware of. i havent watched the parts after part 6 so idk)

Part 4 Jotaro has one of the best subtleties in the series though. Fans believe that Jotaro has PTSD from his fight with Dio. Not only does he seem to genuinely get scared when the arrow is shown to him in a photograph, but in his later fight with Kira it's a lot more on the nose. Kira is a blonde guy, talking about time and how "useless" things are, and Jotaro snaps.
