Yeah! Did not think of Lester Young - great - do you have a particulat solo you had in mind? Stitt - amazing player - some difficult lines, but so clear and understandable!

@@sorenballegaardmusic So, the whole record „the president plays with the oscar peterson trio“ is very good for transcribing, common standards, lyrical solos, amazing rhythm section… of course, you never go wrong with standards like „there will never be another you“ for sonny stitt, in my opinion, every tenor player should have played the „on the sunny side of the street“ solo with diz band. for the more advanced players (that still should play lester and sonny stitt stuff) i highly recommend getting into joe hendersons more advanced stuff, serenity, punjab, inner urge or his version of „night and day“ for the guys that take it way too serious like me, please listen to all the coltrane solos in the „crescent“ album, mark turner played the „crescent“ and the „blue train“ (i know its another record) solos every day for months / years! and for everybody, if you want good and clear articulation + phrasing: sonny rollins moritat, tenor madness, without a song… sorry for this page long novel, hope i could help some people

@@sorenballegaardmusic In my case I transcribed Pres' solos on Lady Be Good, Taxi War Dance and Lester Leaps In. His solos really are very sophisticated, even though he's generally playing within the chords. What impressed me most was his rhythmic feel. Currently transcribing some Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson solos by ear. It's hard work but very much worth the effort. One day I'll get around to Stitt - but there's so many great players on tenor alone ! Never mind other saxophone players or others such as trumpet or guitar. Thanks for the video.
