My predictions for the next reaper patch : -permanent imob while spec'd to reaper -can't crit anymore -character title changed to "ugly idiot" -shroud 1 vuln changed instead to apply confusion (to self) -if you go downstate in shroud you die in real life It will still be considered too tanky to pull above full magi druid

love this! good points and i agree with all of it. on other issue i have tho is that almoast 80% of reapers dps comes from the shroud so ppl saying it should be less dps cuz of the tankyness should then also agree that any other dps class should lose about 50% dps from taking dmg. also shoud cant be healed so if ur shoud lines up with alot of pressure from the boss (first boss in 98cm fractal for example) you just have to sacrefice it to get off what u can. lastly compare it to virtuosa or scourge. bouth those dps classes are at or around the top of the meta with high benchmarks, and bouth of them can do their dps rotation uninterupted from range. melee builds should always have a bit more dps (like +1-2k) then range builds to compansate for the convinience :) hope this video gets more attention so something gets done

before eod I'd argue that it's a good build for beginners because of how braindead simple the rotation is (and the old shroud damage reduction) - but virtuoso and mechanist are just as easy to play and do a lot higher dps

I have medium legendary armor and I’m still unsure on what class to main for PvE 🤷 I like open world / solo content and pve stuff like raids/fractals/strikes. I generally like flexibility and I also don’t dislike healing / supporting people :)

@@pietersoetaert6625 go for a soulbeast. As a dps you can do all raids and strike with it, sometimes it’s not the best choice but still very ok and it’s also the best dps for fractals cm

I was thinking of, with some of the life force gain buffs recently, would a cd buff to shroud (let's say 5 sec cd without alacrity) fix shroud problems on for example VG? As for damage, I'm thinking of sh4 isolation bonus damage like rev sw2.

5s should cd might be pretty good yeah not sure how good exactly though and isolation damage could be good too but too situational imo, reaper is still too weak and has too many flaws to get conditional buffs and be fine

while they're at it maybe make it so that getting jumped by samarog doenst despawn all necro minions. Nothing like getting jumpted by samarog and then losing someone on the next jump because your flesh golem just deletes itself.

I always thought (and actually just saw Westet saying something like this on the forum) that the EZ/convenient fix would just be having Reaper's Onslaught to """sacrifice""" the second health bar and gain like a giga flat modifier plus 100% crit cap from some other source (really, whatever source) while moving quickness on shroud to the Omega used Blighter's Boon. With this you cover instanced pve (where the classic shroud design is a damn handicap, dps and sustain wise actually cause you lose value from healers in shroud, also they are there for a reason) while keeping Reapah the superior breed in open world (all that matters tbh). #HOPIUM

What if Reaper retained its current level of damage but became a support DPS? Specifically, Alacrity DPS. You could change Reaper's Onslaught so that instead of the current version: _Gain ferocity and quickness while in Reaper's Shroud. Hitting with Life Reap reduces the recharge time of shroud skills._ You would instead have something like this: _Gain ferocity and an aura that pulses each interval to grant alacrity to yourself and nearby allies while in Reaper's Shroud._

I'm surprised you didn't advocate for a 40% buff to gravedigger as well. Buffing reaper shroud skills is still going to net you the same problem of not having access to shroud whenever there is damage (hur dur we at Anet don't believe in reapers or spectres taking damage so their shroud is obviously not a problem). I would absolutely make gravedigger do 32k-35k dps on it's own instead of the bullshit 28k it does now. It's one of the most iconic parts of PvE gameplay once the enemy reaches below 50% HP.

My reasoning is that by only buffing shroud you make it a viable pick in the right hands while remaining proportionally weaker for less experienced players who will still tank too much damage. That said I'd be happy to see reaper do 37-38k no matter how they choose to go about buffing it

i think 38 might be a bit too high given that, yes it kills your dmg, you CAN tank with shroud where say a weaver would big BIG RIP. however, you then consider stuff like holosmith has A.E.D and also slaps hard currently so... idk would definitely love to see more burst on reaper, or even more dmg when bosses drop to

Look at it this way, virtuoso is fully ranged and has like 10 seconds of invulnerability blinks and blocks everywhere and does more damage than reaper. It can tank damage much much much better than reaper that is fully melee and is the only class really that gets punished to survive. Going down isn't a big deal since you get picked up instantly on anything else, reaper is stuck with no damage for 10 seconds+ cooldowns won't line up anymore. Bladesworn has a first number twice as high as reaper, literally 62k at 20% of the golem, and it's got access to two aegis with no cast time and 3 blinks. Reaper currently does as much damage as the best quickness and alac givers. It would NOT be op if it did 38k, it would still be disproportionately punished for taking damage, it would still be fully melee and it would never actually be top dps. Right now it still sucks compared to good options and I'm tired of seeing it be mediocre at best since release, the second healthbar is a drawback in every scenario not an advantage
