Why Samsung Using ElectroMagnetic Valve in Refrigerator?

I pick up scrap appliances. Most of the refrigerators I pick up are about 20 years old, but in the last few years I've picked up a surprising number of Samsung and LG units that were just three years old. I asked why the customers were throwing them out. Most said that they broke and cost too much to have serviced.

What about some 3-way valves like this one: DA62-04678A Step Valve Samsung refrigerator? It seems to me to be a kind of step-motor, where the winding coils are are magnetically coupled to the inside permanent magnet. This is my guess, but I never saw someone properly explaining this - maybe they don’t know, maybe they want to reserve to “sell an online course”, who knows? If you can bring some light on such valves I highly appreciate.
