Too much money is a burden. The best things in life are usually free, like going for a walk, which is my favorite thing to do these days. Cheers Austin :)

Maybe it is a burden for you if you have no kids or no kids with delays. Then, as a good parent, you would want them to o be secure and ok after your death.

@@IrisP989 I understand your point of view. I meant its a burden relative to the person understanding and capability; some have a lot of money and help others and are happy doing so, or just dont mind their fortune and others have way less and are obsessed with it. I dont think money gives so much security to a person as one might think though, given the multitude of bad things that can happen to a person in this life. Regarding kids i still think the best a person can do is love them and give them a solid moral foundation, or as the Spanish say, make them happy and throw them to the sea. Money is nice, i wish i had more of it, but sometimes life throws some curveballs at you and when you come out from the other side you really start aprecciating things like health, and a clear conscience. Thats when you start aprecciating walking. I love walking! Cheers! :D
@IrisP989
@IrisP989 7 ай бұрын
I understand what you are saying. You can make your kids happy and throw them to the sea if they are normally developed. Otherwise, it is on you to make sure that you have the means to take care of them and leave them money to be taken cared of when you are gone. In that case, all the money that you can make and keep for them is necessary. @@StewieGuitar

i love this message. people always ask me why don't i "strive for more" or "be more ambitious" with my career but i've already defined what enough is for me. there's much more to life for me than just making more money. money does matter, but only up to a certain point. i don't need more stress as i have a healthy work/life balance, make decent money, and am just happy with my current work situation. everything in life is a trade off!! which includes getting more money

I needed to hear something like that. A lot of times I feel bad because I don't strive for more, because people tell me I'm a wasted potential, because I don't care about a successful career. But the truth is, with the money I have in my bank account, investing, my house, and my very simple lifestyle, I don't need to work at all (it's not that much money for people from the US, but it's enough for my South American life). And I've been enjoying being lazy the past few months. As soon as I get my residence card, I might look for a job as a tourist guide. The salary is bad, but it's something fun that I already know I enjoy doing. Chasing more and more seems pointless, when I can just enjoy life. My husband works in different parts of the country, and I'm able to follow him wherever because I don't need to have a job, that way I can explore all Chile 🎉

Another fine video, Austin. More money means more hours on the hampster wheel and less time to enjoy life. Many of us are in a hurry but the race stops only when we are permanently in a graveyard. I wished I had smelled the flowers and looked into the sky more when I was younger. I sure do now. I'm 65.

Even though I didn't reach my financial goals last year I realized, I was able to retire early this month. In 2018 I finished paying off my condo, three years earlier, by living on a shoe string and getting a second job. Even though I quit the second job I continued saving what I used to pay as mortgage and turns out that will cover my expenses for several years and allows me to leave my job, which had become very toxic recently. People say adapting to being jobless will be very hard. I've been unemployed for ten days for the first time since I was 17, so we'll see, but I don't feel it yet

When I worked in the corporate (Silicone high tech) world, I enjoyed being an administrator or executive secretary. I was also very good at it. I worked for one or two people and always knew the pulse of the company. I was getting paid by the hour and if I worked overtime it would be at 1/5 x's. In the company, HR and all others felt you should work your way up. I finally got talked into in. I became the lowest level techie, shoved into a dark office and was NOT in my wheelhouse. (Technology is not my jam). What turned from my lovely employment changed to intense stress, and I wasn't even that good at it. Interestingly, although my salary was higher, I was never paid for overtime (Which was more extensive as a technologist) I made more money as an executive assistant. You make so much sense Austin. And I just realized it years later. :)

As someone who has climbed the ladder multiple times in the last 2 years, here's what I can tell you: My hair went from completely dark brown to nearly all white in this same time and I get the blame for everything that happens in my department. Know what you are getting yourself into in full before you jump in just because it's a promotion and/or pay increase. It could be worth it, but it also may not be the wisest option. Also, if you get an increase, *DO NOT* increase your life expenses. Keep on the same path you were on if possible.

@@fafa1648 I am so sorry to hear this. Your predicament is exactly why I am not accepting. My manager and most of the VPs have one thing in common, the top of their heads starting to go bald, probably due to stress. And let’s be real, a raise come with your promotion for a reason. Imagine you’re getting promoted but pay stays the same then a higher title won’t be as appealing, it’s all because of the money. Since my health insurance doesn’t cover seeing a psychiatrist, I will be my own psychiatrist and prevent any mental illness from the job. Take your health in your own hand !

When I went back to Ecuador a year ago after being gone for 2 years, I had this realization that after being back in the US for two years I had forgotten how to relax as American life sucks you in! It's nearly impossible to not get sucked in by this way of life.

The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. I'm retired. I tell younger people to find a job they can do when they are 70 and doesn't exhaust them mentally or physically. Enjoy your life as you go. You might not make it to retirement ( accident, disease ). Plus you can have more fun $100 when you're 30 than you can on $1000 when you are 70. Definitely put back money for a rainy day, but don't spend everything on a future you're unsure of. Don't waste your youth by becoming a workaholic.

100% agree. The key points, in these scenarios, I've discovered, are to truly "Know Thyself", know and FOLLOW your underlying principles, and do not accept added responsibility simply for the money (or the title) - that way lies madness. What tends to happen is the more discerning and stable you become, the more opportunities and options will appear - choose wisely, pay close attention, improve/strengthen your inner self and, as I've discovered, things become simpler and easier and more joyful as time goes on. One primary ingredient is TIME - things just need/take time. I joke (sort of...) with people that, if you don't fight the Universe, it won't fight with you.

@@blogdesign7126 The family is completely dysfunctional. I am truly one of the most damaged people I have ever met (I am sure there are worse but I don’t know them). The money never really showed up. They declared bankruptcy twice (both times with over 100k in consumer debt). My parents are 76 years old paid off their house last year after refinancing twice and taking the money out. Sadly, I was a single mother who followed that advice. I worked constantly. I made great money but never had any. My son and I are “okay” now but he definitely holds resentment toward me- there was no security for him. Augustine, I would love to see a video about how frugality gives children security. It is a firm foundation. Debt and wasteful spending is a house of cards. I believe children know that. If I had to do it again, I would work “normally”, live within my means and make sure my son came home to a home cooked meal each night- one that smells good and makes child feel like they are “home”.

This is a tough one: it's easy to say, "Pace yourself," but I imagine it's very challenging as a KZbinr, to feel you're at the mercy of an algorithm that is largely beyond your control. To me it seems you're doing great and with each additional video, you have a larger archive of material, which must still get views, likes, and subscribers. It's like being an actor: there's always one more class you could take or one more audition you could go on or one more headshot you could send out (if people still send out headshots). But you also need to be able to enjoy the here and now. If you're paying your bills and, largely, moving in the right direction, I'd say set firm limits and schedule days off regardless of the situation. Otherwise you're going to burn out. Nothing you don't know already, I'm sure! LOL
@ElAgustin
@ElAgustin 7 ай бұрын
I would compare being a KZbinr to being a musician: in order to stay in the game you have to constantly be on top of your game. Audiences are very fickle. I always think about the song, "The Entertainer," by Billy Joel. "I am the entertainer And I know just where I stand Another serenader And another long-haired band Today, I am your champion I may have won your hearts But I know the game and you'll forget my name I won't be here in another year If I don't stay on the charts." Haha, this is what I always think about, but it's still better than a 9-5 job in my opinion and tons of character building!

You need money. With insane U.S. inflation problem you definitely need to keep good investments for as long as you live. If you ever run out of money your life will be very miserable. Your money and your health are your most important things. You won't do well without either.

I disagree. Maybe you can say no to money if you have no kids so you are only responsible for yourself or you just don't care about your kids. You should definitely care about money if your kids have some delays or disabilities (that is if you are a good and loving parent).

What you say is NOT irrelevant and it is also good to know and think about...BUT the point of money is also other things. Such as making it for your family. But there's more to it than that. Once you start making a certain good amount AT LEAST half of it will go away on death once our over reaching government force takes it away from you. Then the other half becomes significantly worth less because the politicians have raided and raped the public treasury to oblivion and to the extent we will never be able to pay it back. So...can I have any money you don't want?

@ElAgustin I think that's the downside of KZbin: you get a channel, then you gotta get sponsors, then create a team, and on and on it goes until one day you wake up and realize KZbin wasn't what you thought it would be--total freedom.
