I ended up getting paid more (even tho I had to fight for my accessorial pay a bunch) but not treated better and believe it or not more safety features (lane departure, cameras) even tho it was an ideal drop and hook job, great cpm, ultimately I just couldn't deal with the AI camera and micromanaging that came along with it. Also, horrid upper management and no supervisors with any balls to take responsibility for what they say. I had a better experience @ Schneider Tanker than I did smaller company It was time to go..

I remember I had 3 backing accidents in the first 5 weeks when I started working for Schneider. Accident 2 & 3 happen within days of each other. I remember stressing that my new career was going to end before it even started. They told me to report the Gary yard for training. I didn’t know it at the time but I was giving a test by a trainer and luckily for me I did ok enough to be giving another chance. I was told one more incident in a year and I’d be let go. I ended up working there for a 18 months before leaving for a better paying job. Everything said Schneider gave me an opportunity and spent time trying to teach me how to back up the trailer without hitting anything.

Dont worry, i work there in the tanker division about 12yrs ago, i high hooked an empty trailer at the houston yard and was fired on the spot, i had 4yrs in, with every freaking patch on both sleeves, from safety patch, to years served, miles driving, all of them..but that one mistake put me on a greyhound..lol..but hey im still trucking, drove my own truck for a couple years, worked oilfield, and now been running local groceries for sysco for about 8yrs.. So fuk Schneider low payingasses..its way more money out there homie..trust me..ive driven for 17yrs.. Schneider is for beginners..get your skills up..its a blessing that they fired you..peace✌🏾👍🏾.

In 38 yrs of trucking, only had one time the 5th wheel didn't engage properly, it was a detachable gooseneck lowboy trlr with hydraulic lines, good thing I caught it, or it would have been an expensive mess. One time I was hooking onto a tanker dropped in a huge puddle. Pin went over the 5th wheel, luckily someone saw it and yelled at me and was able to stop before the trailer hit the back of the cab. I lucked out.

when i hook to a trailer THE FIRST 2 THINGS I DO is forward/backward tug test and i get out of truck and VISUALLY inspect under the trailer to make sure the locking bar is secured within the jaws around the kingpin.dropping trailers is not a part of trucking nor is getting too comfortable with your position.when you get too comfortable,it's time to stop driving and move on.no offense but when you dropped your trailer the last thing you should have been worried about was keeping your job. i would have been more worried about the steps i did and did not take and made a mental note to make sure it is properly attended to.be safe bro.

Nothing like talking safety out of the one corner of their mouth. Then the load has to get there at all costs out of the orher corner of their mouth. There was a point when in the Gary terminal I was up for almost two days straight. Logs were so damned screwed up. I was so tired that I hung the qual-comm and my head out the window. I'm surprised how much they cover as far as lodging and transportion to and from your home town. They easily spend $6,000 or more on me, but i know they made they're money back in the first month, that's how they are able to do that. Yes

Always go under the trailer after doing the pull test and with a flashlight and make sure the fifth wheel is locked! I know some guys that did the pull test and still dropped the trailer.

Today for the first time in my two years of driving I almost dropped the trailer. Or rather I did drop it on the road but first I heard the sound I stopped I checked all my wheels I didn't know why I heard that sound so then I took off again and that's when the trailer fell down and it fell on top of my wheels luckily I stopped right then and there and I cranked it back up so I was lucky.

Schneider’s to strict especially for being a new driver company and honestly that’s why I don’t think I’d ever work there. You can’t even wear a headset as a owner op over there. Screw them, I hear Schneider and think micromanagement and I haven’t even worked there lol

I’m just now coming on to CDL and I have my tankers and Hazmat in Dorsman is there any tanker companies that will hire you without experience except for Snyder
@corbinsmith502 жыл бұрын
Not to many smaller companies can hire an inexperienced driver. Basically only the mega carriers can bring you on with no experience. You'll have to do their training, work there for two years before finding something better. My suggestion is don't do tanker unless you got a specific plan for later like to haul fuel locally or something.
@pacman49372 жыл бұрын
The mega companies usually insure themselves so they can hire anyone. Most insurance companies won’t allow carriers to hire rookie drivers. That’s why you see the stuff saying 3 months experience, 6 months, 1-2 years etc. Also you don’t have to work for Schneider for a year. Start researching local tanker jobs. See the experience requirements. A lot of the local gas stations hire at like 3-6 months. Some hire new drivers.

I went through training at the end of September 21 and started solo end of November. I'm still there and I haven't had any issues so far. Could pay be better? Yes but I'm still new. Next month will be the 9 months I needed to fulfill my contract. You'll be fine as long as you treat it seriously. Everyone has been really nice so just keep the positive attitude and you'll do just fine

Hi Franny, I’m in week 2 in Gary and it’s been good so far. There’s a lot of annoying HR type stuff you have to go through, but don’t feel stressed because it’s not really a high-stress situation in general. They are going to revisit all the basics you (hopefully) learned in CDL school, and since it’s fresher for you, it should be a little easier. We just did all that stuff in the rain last week, so hopefully you will have a dry and sunny first week! ☀️PS- if your recruiter tries to NOT put you in the hotel, that’s a mistake. The hotel is decent and will save you on commute time, and they will definitely cover it. My recruiter screwed me over by not making that happen for me, which I discuss in my upcoming YT vid.

Dont skimp out on physically getting under and checking the jaws with a light. A handle not all the way in is a red flag. Dont be like most drivers and back in and slam the thing at do a pull test about to rip a driveshaft out. Get under a bit first to see if it's too high. If so crank it down and back lightly until the audible click is heard. Then check after plugging it in and raising the dolly the rest. And I learned awhile ago check to see if both legs came down before dropping. I had one that was still up and thankfully I caught it or the trailer would be on its side. Get into the habit of checking both legs when dropping. Careful out there. They'll put it on your credit report for drivers. That's all the dac is a credit report literally.
