That happened to a colleague of my. She did an amazing job during the absence of our manager. All the she asked for in return was to be transferred to another part of the Country. When our manager returned, they told her that it was not possibile to transfer her, due to unbelievable reasons. She quit the job.

Well everyone have to know that if your good at your current position, you will never get promoted to a higher position EVER !!! They just don't want to lose your expertise in that position + they can always use you as unpaid help for the higher possition when they need.

Had something like this happen to me as well. I felt like quitting also but I hung on for some reason. Turns out that person ended up getting fired soon after because of Covid so I guess it worked out.
