I absolutely loved this as well! There is also a great section from Bane in the Book of Sith, explaining the flaw in the thinking of the Brotherhood of Darkness by rejecting the "Darth" title. But it ends with a great quote from Bane explaining how he restored the title so it would only be used by those worthy within his Rule of Two lineage, which I thought was a great way of putting it after the scenes from the novel you mentioned here.
@EchthelionII5 жыл бұрын
Yeah he did, he even told everyone that none of them could stop him, which I took to mean that literally no one could stop him, he'd kill all who tried. It's easily the best of the trilogy, he just becomes so powerful in a short amount of time. He accomplished so much in like 4 years, by the time he was almost 30 he had annihilated the Brotherhood of Darkness, became one of the most powerful Sith ever, and created the Rule of Two that would bring the Jedi to near extinction.

@@QoQabai658 You seem to have a bit of your history confused. Kaan wasn't responsible for Bane ending up in the orbalisk armor; that was Freedon Nadd. Bane found Nadd's holocron in a room where the orbalisks lived, & they swarmed him as soon as he retrieved Nadd's holocron. Kaan's spirit never escaped the thought bomb until over a thousand years later, thanks to Kyle Katarn. What you're presumably thinking of is the visions Bane was having of old members of the Brotherhood of Darkness after the detonation of the thought bomb, such as Kaan & Ka'sim. Those weren't actually their spirits; those vision were effects brought on to Bane by the thought bomb, as although Bane was well outside of the radius wherein the thought bomb was fatal, he was still within range enough for it to affect him. Bane wanted to be sure that it wasn't the spirits himself, & so he went back to the location where the thought bomb was detonated & "reached" inside of the orb with the force to be sure that the spirits were still trapped in there.

After Sidious and Vader were destroyed, there was no one left to continue the teachings of the Sith and the order died with them. The funny part is that it was Bane who allowed it to happen in the end. His teachings lead to the end of the Sith.

I recently re-evaluated Kaan, and thought I came out with some interesting conclusions. Kaan preached the idea of the 'Brotherhood of Darkness' - equality amongst sith, but in reality this was never the case. Kaan was always the undisputed leader, and where he led the other lords always followed. We can see why this is towards the end of 'Path of Destruction' - Kaan has a hypnotic, Saruman-like quality to him, even if he is wracked with turmoil and doubts, he controls the thoughts and emotions of his followers according to his will. So I would suggest we don't see the Brotherhood as Kaan's true philosophy - but rather an exercise in manipulation. As Bane says, equality is a lie - but it was Kaan's lie, and its success granted him power at the head of the sith order. We should remember he is one of the Dark lords of the sith who nearly toppled the Republic, and put an end to infighting amongst the sith. The funny thing is, when you look at it this way - Bane fell for it too, he saw a broken philosophy that was never meant to be more than a smokescreen for Kaan's power.

The title of Darth was granted to those who wanted to oppose other Dark Lords. That was why Bane was the only bold and smart Sith Lord in his era.
@kevinhansen82114 жыл бұрын
Kaan's greatest flaw was that he did not seek to lead the Sith but to control them. From what I remember the man used his battle meditation on his own followers constantly, not just to keep them from fragmenting but to keep them under his thumb. Pushing himself in such a way caused the man to slowly lose his mind, and what was worse, made his fellow Sith mere extensions of his will. Some were strong enough to free themselves occasionally, but all it took was another jolt of Kaan's power and they fell back into their subservient state. He tried this trick on Bane, but by this point, Darth Bane was too powerful, he felt what Kaan was trying to do, and manipulated him into finishing Bane's final plan. In the end, Kaan served as a shepard, leading his fellow Sith into Bane's slaughterhouse. Ironically enough proving that it was Bane who was strongest and deserved to not only rule, but reshape the Sith in his image.

It didn't seem to me that Darth Bane's idea made a whole lot of sense other then as a theory. The apprentice grows strong enough to challenge the master and if they win become the master. His apprentice beat him, but Palpatine didn't appear to follow that. Granted he was incredibly powerful, but he took many many steps to prevent any acolyte or apprentice from ever coming close to challenging him. I saw Lord Kaan's method of leadership, while more Jedi like, working out better in the long run.
@CG-hf2cd5 жыл бұрын
Darth Sidious did that because in his own view he had achieved the vision that Darth Bane had and no longer had to follow as strictly to the rule. He also was trying to learn immortality to fully cement his view of no longer needing the rule and he was obsessed with his power, in which he didn't want to lose it. Darth Sidious also never truly had an apprentice worthy of following and carrying his title, because Darth Maul was trained as a sith assassin and never truly a Dark Lord; Darth Tyranus (Count Dooku) was a temporary replacement for Maul until Anakin was trained to the point that he could be manipulated and corrupted and Darth Vader was going to be the true master to replace Sidious in his opinion, but that never happened since Vader was permanently crippled from ever becoming a true Darth and fully achieving his power that he would of otherwise of had.

agreed, it was very unique philosophy in the order that was snuffed out to quickly by Bane. But I cant not fault him, the thought bomb might've been the only opportunity to kill them all.

@@kendratucker20 he was OP but he wasn't in that Vitiate/Palpatine level of OP. Homie wasn't gonna dominate the minds of several thousand Sith like Vitiate or passively hold sway over the actions of all his forces like Palpatine...

It'll probably be on cable in my country after about a year, just like TLJ. This didn't happen with TFA, which at least looks like Star Wars. When Johnson wrote TLJ, he forgot that there are hundreds of humanoid alien species in that universe.

@@Mecha82 it's not hate, it's disappointment. The only way we can communicate it to them is by not buying tickets. Some people gave up after watching TFA, others gave up after TLJ. Let's see how ROS does without all those fans that were insulted for pointing out legitimate problems that Episodes 7 & 8 have.

Ugh ... Lord Kaan was a communist. Skere Khan betrayed the Sith by renouncing the idea of competition. He chooses stagnation over evolution, and that is something that a true sith would never accept

Like it's good to weed out the meek from the strong but not when it gets to insane levels of constant assassinations, backstabbing, and Kaggath (Honorable Sith Challenging Ritual)...
@-CrimsoN-5 жыл бұрын
Kind of ironic that you declare Kaan a "communist" when Darth Bane's entire Rule of Two at its core is about forsaking individualist power struggles in favor of a strong centralized partnership between a Master and Apprentice. When the Master becomes weak, it is the Apprentice's rightful place to surpass him and so on and so forth. It has little to do with competition and everything to do with collectively maintaining the power and teachings of the Sith. If it had anything to do with competition, then a Sith Master would take on several apprentices and promote competition among them in favor of promoting one to become the next Sith Master, like the Sith of the Old Sith Wars.
