You didn't really give any reasons why it's better than the reviews are saying ... you mention the squid game actor is in it and he speaks English and has fight scenes.. then mention a female actors character is... fine... then the next actor is flat and tedious... you say it lacks umph...,and somehow you seem amazed by making a cloud of dust with the force... you seem like you're mad a star wars fans for giving 1 stars and hating so early but from this video it's like you're saying -no it's not a 1 out of 10 guys come on it's a 2 out of 10. You dont mention at all the insanely stupid power of 1 power of 2 power of many chants that were painfully embarrassingly stupid. I understand wanting to give it a chance but from the first few episodes it's looking like the rest will be just as bad. Even you say this ain't the one to rebuild the bridges with star wars fans
@SpannerReviews6 ай бұрын
Hey, thanks for commenting and checking out the video! I think what you're saying is technically on the mark, that I'm saying this series at current is fine. I think fine can be something massively misinterpreted as a negative thing. What the show is doing this both right and wrong, which I tried to highlight (Like character intrigue and story = right, individual performance and group chemistry = currently not where it can be but think it's heading in the right direction) I tend to steer clear of numbered ratings but I think 'fine' generally is anywhere around the 5/6 out of 10 mark if I had to chose? Understandable with how you're feeling with the show, and if it doesn't improve in the next episodes, then I think it would have wasted its potential to be good instead of fine. I say this one isn't the one to rebuild the bridges with star wars fans because we are only 3 episodes in and the general online consensus is very negative on it, regardless on how I feel about the show (sorry I probably didn't make that 100% clear in my conclusion!) So even if the show improves across the next 5 episodes, I think the dice has been cast, and opinion now set on this. Hopefully that all makes sense!

Because the more extreme your opinions are, the more you will have to back them up. He said it's fine saying it's around 5-6/10 which is right in the middle and he gave some reasons. When people say its 1/10 its an extreme position, so they better have good reasons to back up their claim. And I've seen NONE. All the things everyone is parroting are either completely subjective or straight up meaningless bullshit. And don't get me wrong .... If I wasn't a Star Wars fan, I would NEVER watch a show that is rated 6/10. I wouldn't bother. So I don't consider 6/10 good in general terms. Imagine you're hanging out with your friends on a Spring Day. The weather is sweet and sunny and you start talking about it. And one of your friends says I grew up in Sweden so this weather is actually kinda hot for me man...And another one says I think this weather is fine, not too hot not too cold either. Another says I dunno man I grew up in Egypt and I find this weather a bit too chilly for my liking but its not bad. And then the last friend says: "What are you guys talking about??? The weather is absolutely freezing.... Its like the North Pole here. I feel like i have to wear 3 layers of clothes just to be able to stand up straight...." Now up to that point, all opinions had some sort of claim and they were balanced enough to not make anyone ask questions, but that last friend.... well he would have to fucking explain why he thought a sunny spring day seemed like the North Pole to him.... So it cannot get worse than 1/10 in imdb, you better have some decent arguments for it.

"The people who would have bullied you for liking star wars, are now in control of star wars." This is generally true for all of nerd-dom. It went mainstream with things like Marvel, then Star Wars, DnD, etc. The reality is nerds were the original diverse outgroup of modern society. We welcomed anyone who shared our interests because there weren't many of us and we stuck together against the bullies and the haters. Ethnicity or class didn't matter. We always wished more girls would share our interests but they seldom did. The boys weren't typically creeps, but were often socially awkward and inexperienced around women, so that sometimes made it awkward any girls who were actually interested. Nerd stuff pushed diversity, strong female characters, interracial dating, etc. while mainstream Hollywood refused to embrace it. It was only after it became popular to support that stuff that non nerds get into the space. Then they realized they were late to the party, so they had to act like they brought virtue to this space and we were the bigots. It's mass gaslighting and projection. "Their" crew refuse to excuse children for the actions of great grandparents who were malnourished, uneducated, underage when made to conquer for kings so WHY is it sane to excuse her actions as a well-nourished, educated, old free willed person who KNOWS BETTER? "They" are ultra-wealthy ultra-powerful ultra-privillaged and play the victim to US THE PEOPLE

Hey there, thanks for checking out the Video! I think it may have misinterpreted slightly. That mention of the 1/5 star review was just an example of one I saw. The point I was making is that this show is being negatively review (with 1/5 reviews for example) when I think the show is at the moment 'fine' which probably sits its at an average rating (lets say 2.5 or 3 out of 5 in this case). Some people have lost so much faith in star wars that the slightest thing will set them to extreme label the show as the worst thing ever. Thanks for the recommendation on Star Wars Theory. Has nothing to do with gender or people’s chosen pronouns. Its poorly written (1/3 of the writers have never seen anything SW), poorly acted, helmed by a inexperienced “showrunner” who only got hired because of her previous boss - then she hires her wife (nepotism doesn’t get anymore blatant) & completely ignore lore and logic in exchange for Member Berries. Watch episode 1-03…then watch 2-01 of House of the Dragon (which cost less to make). Night and day. But I guess people that rate it badly will just be called toxic by Disney. Sad really. No other business in history has blamed their audience this much for their inept hiring and production practices. Otherwise- I’m a huge fan of your channel & your Movie reviews. ✊🏼

Early doors I think its still not massively great, but still better than 1/5 rating i've been seeing a lot of (all down to subjectivity though). I'll get to watching the new season of HoD soon to see those differences! Your last point is really interesting as well, The tug of war between the studio and audience in this blame game. I think you make a great point that audience toxicity only gets brought up in conversation when it comes to Disney... and not really any other studio. I guess it's also because no other studio has a fandom like disney (aside from GoT which got carnage in its final season as well haha). This is probably a whole topic to dive into on another video! Disregard all the smart asses in the comments man. Your review of the show is balanced as it should be. I would rate the show around 6 - 6.5 / 10. I think 1/10 is completely unjustified. I don't know why these people are freaking out. I don't understand why there seem to be some major youtubers out there instantly posting absolutely toxic reviews of star wars and milking it like a cow for views. I find this very hypocritical. And by toxic I mean they cling on the negatives of the show and completely disregard any positives. Like what has been the story so far?? Episode 3 was the worst piece of cinematography to date. And why was that? Because (not my words) The lesbian space witches sang a cringe chant for a few seconds..... Really? That's all it takes for the episode to be "THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO STAR WARS?" hahhahaha Also you know... fire in space.... But when George Lucas did it.... it served a purpose..... right.... so basically, when you want to like it, its ok, when you don't like it, it makes no sense. Thats not hypocritical at all. Lets see what else? Oh Osha is a terrible name for a character. Absolutely shocking! I dunno man people seem to like Osha in game of thrones...... Lets not forget about Osha using a pronoun..... what an absolute mockery! I'm glad we're looking at so many important details man. What else is being repeated out there in the forest? Oh right! Mundi! How is Mundi alive 100 years before his appearance in the movies? But in Legends he is said to be born 30 years later.... Is Legends Canon all of a sudden? Cause according to these same "fans" they take very serious care of what is considered canon and what isn't. Oh yes yes but Mundi said in the movie that he hasn't seen any Sith! A HA! but he saw them in the Acolyte! Well i didn't know Mae was a Sith... cause all he saw was Mae fighting and they assumed a Jedi trained her and Mundi was the only one who said "naaaah man I don't think this is as important as we make it to be". Maybe the man is just in constant denial.... or maybe the Sith kills all the witnesses and Mundi lives happily ever after without ever seeing him. Who can predict the future? Oh and lets not forget: "Apparently they can fly now" said Theory when he saw the Sith Landing..... When someone told him that Count Dooku did it in Clone Wars he said.... yeah but that's a 2D animation...... So fucking what? Since when is the format that important to a guy who has made his living off of narrating fan fiction about Star Wars? Its a 2D animation produced by Lucasfilm.... Also I don't understand how his landing is anything other than a BadAss entrance? for all we know he jumped off a tree and used the force to slow down his landing. He didn't actually fly off to the Sunset like fucking Superman...... They can't even enjoy the pure awesomeness that we witness in that last scene (which was definitely the best in the show so far). The sneaky landing and the side flick of Osha and the Ground Push in the end were fantastic.

I agree, people are not hating on it because its bad (which is to be argued) but because they feel it has an embedded woke message. And nobody likes to be brainwashed, right? Anyway. Regarding the lore of the show: IMO many aspects that seem to be controversial don't seem to be too far fetched. For example: calling it the "Thread" instead of the force. I mean if they'd watched Rebels and TCW, they'd know of Bendu and the Night Sisters, who both use what the Jedi call the Force. Bendu is neither on the light nor dark side of the Force and the Night Sisters call it "Magick". Look at the Zeffo from "Jedi: Fallen Order" - it's something else entierly for them, too! The Force has many aspects and I don't see why the "Thread" couldn't be one. The execution (with the singing) might be a bit cringe, but not lore-breaking. And to defend Mundi: I don't think that we see a Sith here. Red lightsabers are not exclusive to Sith. Any lightsaber (or Kyber Crystal for that matter) will bleed if it is forced to by it's (dark side) user. The dark side is not exclusively used by the Sith. Right now it's not clear if the Thread is more on the dark or the light side of the force.
@sheeeit77306 ай бұрын
@@Yakhashe exactly nothing is lore breaking. People are losing their minds about the thread, but all it is, is a different description or interpretation of the force… that’s all it is, and if you have a group of isolated force users forming their own culture, it’s expected that they will describe the force differently…. I mean look at religions irl…. Also another thing to add on Mundi is that he hasn’t seen the red lightsaber. He is not us… the viewers. He has only seen a hologram of Mae. So there’s 0 merit there. Even if that’s a Sith or not, there’s nothing to talk about yet. Very good points about Rebels and Bendu in particular. Regarding whether people like to be brainwashed or not, I feel like the current state of youtube is also a form of brainwash though. Hate reviews are getting out of hand, and the result is Acolyte having 3.5 or something on IMDB. Are all these people voting 1/10 and parroting the same arguments not brainwashed? What’s happening with the Acolyte is extreme… even for Star Wars..
@Yakhashe6 ай бұрын
@@sheeeit7730 the only thing that's kinda lore breaking IMO are the alien species (or rather the lack thereof): where are all the Twi'lek, the Togruta, the Trandoshan, the Rodians? I have seen none of them in this show, whereas they are omnipresent in all other films and series. They can't just "not yet exist" 100 years earlier. And how come all the species that are in the Acolyte are never to be seen again 100 years later? For immersion sake, too, I think it would have been better if they used already known alien species in this show...
@sheeeit77306 ай бұрын
@@Yakhashe Thats not lore breaking either. You're basically asking for Star Wars to be more diverse when it comes to aliens. I get the sentiment behind this and I would be fine either way. It's nice to see different species but its not a dealbreaker. You go out irl you don't expect to see all races every single day... maybe you go out one day and you don't see an Asian person.... thats ok. Maybe the next day you happen to see many Asians who knows. Who cares really. Now when it comes to new species introduced in the show I didn't even notice many... maybe that tracker fury species but other than that none that I noticed were really new. In any case if that is true and they came up with multiple new species that didn't exist in the movies later then yeah that's a fair point (although still fineprint for me personally)

I was waiting to see if you'd review this show. Watched it and was unimpressed...? But, it was enjoyable enough. Definitely some strange choices, and characters could be a little more fleshed out with tension that felt less manufactured. Lee Jung-Jae was such a surprise though. There's a softness and defiance of the Jedi codes to connect with others that I found so touching. When my friend was harping on the show on just reviews (without having seen it), I was curious to see what he was talking about. I was shocked to see the pure vitriol that some people have of this show. Like somehow Anakin not being the only space Jesus and lesbian witches that call the Force the Thread is lore breaking. I just can't even take these outrage review influencers seriously. And for them to say this is worse than Ahsoka makes no sense. That show had awful writing, dull characters and terrible direction of actors who I know can act (except for Ray Stevenson who can just stare at a camera and give you pathos lol), people getting stabbed and just waking up refreshed the next day, over reliance on cameos of characters most people didn't even know anything about, instead of building character through their actions. The Acolyte isn't that. It's trying to do its own thing which I respect.
