If Riot brings twisted treeline to only wild rift im sure there will be outrage from pc players so if riot wanna bring it to wild rift might aswell to pc too Remember when lunar beast MF was exclusive to wild rift only...yeah league pc players didn't like that

Truthfully speaking, if they put back the old dominion (how o loved go there when I was overstressed by some ranked game) and put a trully ranked there, with separate rewards from SR I trully think that the map will became insanely played.

Alright so hear me out: they make a 3v3 map with 2 lanes and a jungle in between them. They can use dark colors like blues, blacks, and purples to make it visually clear, and probably have an objective in the center of the jungle and a Baron-like objective near top lane, just like SR.

That last point about saturation and color was actually something I noticed appear in the Nexus Blitz map. I thought I was crazy that I couldn’t see some things clearly at all while playing on it, but the heightened color saturation and vibrant pallet really does reduce clarity. It’s a shame that they can essentially only work with faded greens in order to keep things readable across all skins and champions but it is also just as impressive that they’ve been able to keep everything readable on the Rift!

This is the main reason why I don't play DOTA2. I was playing DotA for 3-4 years before DOTA2 came up. I tried when it launched and faced with blurry visuals where I couldn't pick what is what. I continued to play MOBA with LoL because it has cleaner visuals.

I miss twisted treeline so much, it was the only 3v3 map and i still use the twisted treant icon to this day, in fact, when TT got removed and i got that icon, I decided to only play maokai for a whole week Oddysey was also a lot of fun

Variety is the spice of life. I think a lot of people would appreciate a map where different champions from the norm can thrive, and different strategies become dominant.

I agree, but the problem is that the champions were only designed for SR so that seems like an impossible dream to me. Heroes of the Storm has so many maps and different champions are good on different maps due to the number of lanes (2 or 3), the size of the map (some maps are tiny, some are huge) and the different objectives and camp placements, types and numbers. Even though they added new maps in the past years, they already had multiple maps at the release time so the heroes were designed with that in mind from the beginning. There are heroes that are weaker on some maps and very strong on others and heroes that are average on every map, it gives the players more choices in strategy in a game that doesn't have items to buy, so it it isn't overwhelming. But League is already hard enough to balance with its number of champions and adding new maps would require many reworks to make it work, I think it would be more frustrating than fun to deal with multiple maps in a competitive mode. That being said, I think they should keep some non competitive game modes up at all times like before or at least in a constant rotation. They're such a huge profit company that I'm sure they can afford it. As a casual player it feels bad when there is no special game mode on and I usually don't play much at that time.

Yeah champions that are on the lower end in sumoners rift might pop in to other maps so they wouldnot be as forgotten as they are now

One of the few things Heroes Of The Storm did right was having a wide variety of maps and kept competitive alot more fresh. Playing on SR after 11 years has became so fucking boring and Riot not even attempting to introduce new maps but straight up remove them (never forget Twisted Treeline and Dominion) is just lazy and lame from their perspective. I'm sure players would love new competitive maps as long as they dont flat out suck.

personally feel like SR is more akin to the chessboard or a soccer or football field you wouldn't ask to change those just for a lol there is a strict reason for competitive reasons. in short think, SR is more like a chessboard than other video game maps

I agree. Blizzard really nailed that aspect of HotS. Star Craft might be an even better example, as the maps pool changes from season to season. Old maps are removed and new ones are added in. Despite a constantly rotation map pool SC2 is still extremely competitive. I guess maps don't sell skins 🤷🏼‍♂️

HotS needs new Maps because the Maps are the big variant in any game. There are No Items, no seperated XP, no Gold. The Map Events is what keep it fresh.

There were times where most junglers had 1 clear start side because id you went to the other. You wouldnt be able to get a full clear.

What is annoying is that blue side jungle always has an advantage bc if u want the fastest clear possible on most kinglets u want to start red buff. For red team they have to get leash from top lane instead of bot lane which gives blue team an advantage right away.

I really wish they would make Nexus Blitz a permanent game mode at this point... It was the perfect mode for when you don't want to play ARAM and want a really short super casual game. :l btw nice use of FF14 music

When Nexus Blitz got released, I played League super frequently I constantly played the game. 10 matches a day or so. When I play on Summoner's Rift, it is just like 1-2 matches every 2 days.

I would have liked a mention of the fact that there was 3vs3 ranked and also they wanted to make a ranking ladder for Dominion too... When Dominion was a thing many champions were designed with both SR and Dominion in mind, some champion abilities were even changed because of Dominion balance

While 3 teams might be interesting, I can only think of the mountain of code needed to somehow add a third team to league. So much of their code is based on two teams. Even something that you don't think of like the champion draft will need major overhaul. Something like a 7v7 or a 10v10 might be interesting too just to see the insanity of the teamfights that occur.

I think just permanently make one for all, URF and Nexus Blitz in the game and add a weird funny co-op map that they change every 4 months or every season. I think this will make the game less toxic in rank. and sorry for my bad English 😅

I would prefer that only nexus blitz be a permanent game mode. Urf and one for all are all on the summoners rift and would make sense being a rotating game mode for the rift. If they would like they can also make a one for all on nexus blitz map too

Idk if you talked about twisted treelines, but I would love it if you covered it. I really enjoyed competitive twisted treeline. The meta there revolved around safe bruisers or a high risk reward hyper carry like kog. Its a shame they took it out.

I really like the idea of them making more gamemodes to fit with new maps. Ascension, Twisted Treeline, Even the odyssey event map (I forgot it's name) were all so good and I'm willing to bet 90% of the playerbase loved those gamemodes. I don't think having SR2 would make much sense, considering they have basically perfected a competitive map already. However, it would be refreshing to see them put out other gamemodes that aren't on SR, since the main competitive game can get pretty stale sometimes (especially with annoying champion balancing)

There really should be multiple maps that change how the game is played like in HoTS. Maybe you could have a map where top and mid have to work together, or all lanes converge and diverge in the middle of the map, or different objectives to fight over. This would also make it so the meta does not stale as quickly without changes as a character like chogath do great on a control point map but worse on a collection map, or Sona would have a role on the smaller maps to hep out the whole team. The game would tell you the map before picking champs but it would give a feeling of uniqueness to each game

Coming from heroes of the storm to league made me love the multiple maps more because it required better map knowledge than simply knowing one and how to play around it, additionally, each map had the standard forts and core, with additional camps and side objectives in each map that usually had their own flavor based on the map's theme, heres the thing, every map has it's own primary objective that forces you to play around it both with your comp and with your use of the benefits from completing the objective. And most of these objectives would force skirmishes or full teamfights even as early into the game as level 4, during the best time for heroes of the storm it was fairly balanced and was the best moba for team play because you could not possibly solo carry, you could do really well but only on about 2 champions at that time could you actually 1v5 and thats if you were leaps and bounds better than the enemy team. I think league would be very healthy to have an alt gamemode with map specific objectives, and if theres a map for each theme so like cosmic, fire, etc skins could be disabled of that type if they really had to. I dont think it should be the primary game mode but for a draft mode it would be perfect and in my opinion require much more skill to properly execute consistently due to having to work around different map layouts and champion pools for *what is best*

I think I know why before I even watch the video. One of the biggest problems I had with HOTS (Heros of the Storm,) is that it was too damn much yet simple at the same time. Every map had a different objective, there's a TON of maps and a TON of characters and each ultimate essentially changed the way each champ played and you gotta pick between two of em. It was too much time investment for me to learn about all that. League keeps it simple yet it's still complex in the sense that I know when dragon spawns...but now I gotta plan around it. I know Rift shows up at X time but I need to get it before another time so I can spawn 2 of em in a game. And most of this information isn't necessarily important for every role. Keeping it simple yet allowing for growth makes it bearable to play. (also it's probably cheaper on their end. Look at how we don't have other competitive modes. Competitive ARAM would literally be huge but they dont wanna balance for it or even update/upkeep the map.)

LoL's complexity is hidden within the champion interactions and items, not much in the skills themselves, as for HotS it is in plain sight on the map objectives and the fact that everyone has 2 ultimates and perks that significantly alter skills/gameplay.

I must say, I was also very disappointed that they didn't bring back the Winter Rift for the last two years because that was the coolest one. I think that switching up the basic colorings such as the winter one would add some nice variety to the game since the map does stay the same, or at least make the dragon soul changes more noticeable as far as the colors go (I only ever notice the water one).

The whole point of different maps is that they encourage new and different strategies. The shape of the map does not need to be a square, nor does the map need to contain all of the same objectives. Map variation allows for niche champions to shine. Larger maps promote the use of global abilities, mobility and splitpushing. Smaller ones promote teamfights. I would encourage you to watch some of the old HGC matches, or play some of the different Heroes of the Storm maps. Clarity is always going to be an issue, but there are ways to mitigate it.

I wonder, what would a 90-degree rotation do to the rift? Like, make blue fountain top left and red fountain bottom right. Functionally, the map would be exactly the same, but in an orientation that no one has played in before. Riot wouldn't need to balance anything differently, and players would still be able to use whatever knowledge they have, but everyone would be seeing the rift in a different light. I also wonder what would happen if the fog of war was made to be much darker, almost like at night. Areas with vision would still be as bright as they are now, but anywhere outside of vision would be much darker except for abilities or the red silhouettes from sweeper.

I think having more competitive maps could be beneficial to the growth of the league esports scene, while trying to balance every champion to be played on different maps like in a platformer or FPS would be a nightmare, having different maps become different events could be interesting. Similar to competitive fencing where there are three different weapons with different strategy and minute rules for each but at its heart the goal is always the same and it’s all considered subsets of one sport. ARAM is a step in this direction but having only one lane and forcing randomness creates a less stable competitive environment with much less macro needed. More maps on the scale of summoners rift, with slightly different terrain patterns causing different play styles and bringing new strategies to light would be very interesting to see.

I do believe more maps wouldn't be inherently bad. Part of the fun is specifically having to adapt to the new enviorment, figuring out new strategies and finding out what works. Jungle for example feels like playing chess. You can express your skill and adapt around your play style. But in the end the early game can feel painfully "solved", and the statement stays true to the rest of the game as well. A simple solution to the colloring problem is to just keep the colloring of the "Summoners Rift 2.0" more or less the same. No need ro reinvent the wheel. Balancing? ARAM is a nice example, it does show that some champions are objectively better in different maps and different scenarios, and so riot can manually tweak some numbers so they're weaker/stronger in certain regards. Not the perfect solution, but it works fine enaugh. Should it be made competetive if it was to arrive? That one i believe is up to anyone's fancy. If the competetive scene is what's holding new maps from arriving, than not giving it to the comptetetive parts, or making a seperate rankings(as it's the tradition ever since TT) is the simple solution. I realise that making new maps isn't something cheap, but it's not an inherently bad thing from gameplay perspective by any means. Some vaiarety is always wellcome and ARAM is good evidence of that.

Soulcalibur is a 3d fighter, and the stages actually heavily impact the game in competitive and casual play, opening more wall combo and or ring out opportunities for either player even to the extent that it gives one player a distinct advantage over the other.

There was a MOBA called Vainglory (dead rn, I think). It started as a 3v3 on phones, but later moved to PC and added 5v5. They were balanced together and played on a competitive level. 3v3 map was one lane on top of a jungle. Jungle had 3 camps, one objective in the middle, and a shop (too in the middle). So it can be done. But if we want to stick to only 5v5, you could always just get a look at SMITE and their map. It could be added in after a few tweaks.

I will agree that Summoner's Rift is the most consistent map among all of the moba's I've played over the years. I've played DoTA, HoN, and DoTA 2, and in each of them there's a specific hero you have to play depending on which side you were on. I guess that's why League has persisted with me up to now? Also, I really appreciate the use of FFXIV music in this video. It kept me glued to watching all the way to the end. Nice touch.

I think it would be cool to have a version of the rift for each region, it doesn't change the gameplay it's just sandy or snowy or demacia's one would be all pristine white stone and Noxus would get sandy lanes and dragon/baron pit would be a gladiatorial arena

I dont think it would hurt to have multiple maps. In HOTS its this way and yeah ofc this means different champs are better on different maps but thats also part of the strategy. Lets say you have a map with lots of walls, ofc kayn would be op, but he would be for both teams equally meaning players know this is a map where kayn thrives so they now play around this. But i thibk they will never implement it cause its too big of a difference and they dont wanna risk it. Dont fix something that aint broke

Another map would create diversity in not just playstyles but also champions. I don't know if it would be better or worse. But just as in overwatch and csgo the maps influence the strategies and champion setups. Although every map might not be 100% balanced you always have pick and ban. It is somewhat different comparing to league because both of the teams are attacking but the same concept stands. More maps would create more diversity in tactics and champion picks. It would require pro and casual players to learn new champions and also counter champions that would be better on a certain map. In my oppinion this would make the game feel more competitve and rewarding for players who are willing to learn all the maps and champion synergies with them.

years ago we could go ranked on Twistedtree line but they remove it, so at one point we have it but not now... any ideia for why they remove TTL map ?

Does anyone know where the "voices" are comming from in the summoner rift, can't find any information, like when they say "You're going to do great" or when they speak when you kill a champion or something.

I played Twisted Treeline 3v3 back in the day, and I concur with everyone else that it would actually solve many of the problems Riot is trying to fix with the sustain, snowball meta, game length, and toxicity. 1. being 1 of 3 players means you have greater skill differentiation among each of your games. You have more agency in each of your games. Most of my 3v3 games felt earned, whereas most of my 5v5 games felt coinflippy 2. because of the previous point, more agency means less team toxicity 3. If the map was smaller, you can have less downtime by recalling instead of adding sustain 4. If the map was smaller, you don't need to snowball as much to put a cap on game length 5. 3 player teams also require *much* less IRL coordination than 5 person teams, so you have more premades with less toxicity In the beginning, League of Legends was a team game. But as it turns out, team games with strangers turns very toxic very fast. The current meta feels very self-sufficient (assassins and juggernauts), but that has *always* been the case in Twisted Treeline. In my opinion, it was a mistake to dump that map altogether; it should have been the future. Smaller map, shorter dashes, shorter blinks (so you don't have to design thick walls), and shorter games should have been the way to go. As for the visual clutter argument, back in the day, when Riot changed to this design, they made a short writeup on it for visual clarity - You could just use the same principles, saturation and all that to make a smaller map

I usually play only every other day of Summoner's Rift or so and usually only 1-2 matches which is nothing to the 3-5 matches of Aram I play everyday. But when Riot released Nexus Blitz, I played literally 10 matches or so per day. Whenever I had time, even small breaks, I would play Nexus Blitz. I was so invested in League again and had so much fun again that I immediately invested money into skins. I met even some new friends in that mode. I was able to try new champions, new builds, new runes thanks to the quick gold. It was not perfect by all means but it definitely was what League of Legends needed, a complete new, up to date map which encourages fun. Even if it would have been somewhat luck-based, I would have invested my time into a Ranked mode there. But I guess it does not matter since it is a ''troll map''.

Yeah I miss Dominion too. It had his Problems but riot never tried to fix them instead took it down. I still remember when Dominion got released, I was so hyped.

dota 2 constantly makes changes to it's map and it's varied(can be big or small)recently they just moved trees to allow more juking around towers(and since dota 2 towers are weaker dives are far more common) wonder how would that work in lol

I couldnt agree more. Balance is such an important issue with new maps. In games like CSGO the maps are often referred to as T-sided or CT-sided (a.k.a one side has an advantage.) For reference in Dust2 if Ts take B site, in pro play most of the time that means a CT save even if they have a one man advantage, bc its a very difficult site to recapture. In games like Apex ull often see streamers prefer one drop spot because it gives a player more opportunities for isolated 1 v 1s

I think most dont care about more competitive maps? x: I rather would like them to fill the big hole which is left by 3v3 and Dominion. A mode where you can actually choose what to play but still have some different elements... It was so fun having a night pass by playing dominion on a weekend because it was not frustrating to lose (at least to me). A fun sometimes quicker sometimes longer gamemode i really adored. Now we get every "event" like one out of 3 gamemodes. No Ascention, no definetely not dominion. Or trolling around with 2 buds in 3v3, making the rankeds for actual fun with crazy combos. There is nothing relaxing to play when you are sick of toxic and mean people everywhere. and now dont come at me with that gamblenightmare aram is...

Great video, but small correction on Soul Calibur. The stages in Soul Calibur are actually quite important due to different sizes, shapes, and number of walls/ledges. Some characters moves are better suited to ringing the opponents out while others can get crazy wall damage.

I think they could easily make some skins for the Rift, not changing the map itself, but how it looks. They can easily experiment with color pallets that work well with most skins, and if there is only a handful of them that blend in, Riot could implement some sort of fix to make it more visible. They have been on a tirade of clarity, so I think that won't be happening soon, but I honestly think they could easily make new map skins for the rift in order to, at least, make it less samey everytime. Like, it's always the rift, just not the same skin all the time, you know? For instance, Spirit Blossom Nexus Blitz was very close to regular Rift, but had a different feel to it. That could very well be a nice skin to have. Maybe a sand based rift could function too. I dunno man, I'm sure they can find some skins that work really well, and then just code them to be random

Hots is a good example of why having multiple maps is both good and bad. It’s good in the sense that no map is exactly the same and it gives different challenges for the players each time they play. Keeping the experience interesting entire time is crucial to the longevity of the game. The bad side, however...I think outweighs the positives. not only did Blizzard just completely abandon Hots and their development team, but it’s such a pain in the ass to adjust the champions according to each map. Hots balance team is a hot dumpster fire, but League-having even MORE champions than them-would honestly want to shit bricks if they had to adjust for each map. Granted, they did implement that “balance buff” to ARAM to even things out, but some of them are horrendously done to certain champions. Also, as Vars mentions in many WNOP or WEOP videos, CONSISTENCY is a huge factor for the success or failures of champions, and adjusting their consistency in games can really be accomplishes if the constant factor of having a singular map supports the variant of balancing.

To add to the other comments, in my opinion there should be at least 5 different ARAM maps right now, while all of them have their unique mechanics. ARAM is not meant to be played competitively and the mode has much more potential if Riot would add random rotating Maps to the mode. Also I miss Budgers Bridge a lot q.q

A Gigantic castle could work, each side spawns on a "room" and they go outside on the courtyards and halls, having two lanes and a big "jungle" in the middle which could bring a different dynamic? Could still be 5v5 or be 4v4 I dunno.

League had a second competitive map for years with TT. They balanced TT specific items and had a different starting gold... in my opinion it was an excellent alternative to summoners rift because it was easier to find two friends to group with. I miss TT and retired from the game when they removed it.

i miss Twisted Treeline i wish they brought it back even just for bot matches or custom games. it was so fun for just really quick games if you dont have time for a full Summoners Rift game. Riot made a huge mistake removing Twisted Treeline from the game permanently. i dont really care about the competitive i play casually for fun like games are supposed to be thats why i wish they brought Twisted Treeline back

i would like it if next season they would tweak the layout of the map. I would especially like if it was mirrored parallel with mid lane. I hate how for some sides it's easier to gank bot than for others and stuff like this. Stuff like the dragon pit being more into red side can't get fixed unless they make the dragon straight in the middle.

Personally speaking, the current SR map is fine, I’d just like a visual update to it. As for the snow map, yes it can cause visual problems and confusion with skins/animations, but there was always the option to change the rift back for competitive and esports. Never understood why they took an optional feature away.

They can make a map like the one from Vainglory. It would be, as far as I can see, really good and easy to implement, a single lane, 3x3 map, with a jungle and jungle objectives, fast paced game.
