What Sonic teams needs to do is to stop cutting back. They are so afraid to mess up that they actually cut off their nose to spite their face. Izuka may have good intentions, but he is definitely clumsy when it comes to executing well. That is something that Naga could do. On top of SEGA of Japan seemingly screwing over American gamers to impress Japanese gamers more, especially in the writing department, this leaves Sonic is a very bad place. For Sonic’s 30th Anniversary, they have to go all out, execute well and exude confidence. I don’t see that coming from SEGA of Japan or Sonic Team right now.

I think the main problem is that it’s not a SEGA All-Stars sequel. People might look at it and think “Oh, just another Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off.” There aren’t any other SEGA characters. The fact that this game only has 15 characters and no planned DLC doesn’t help either.

@@firehedgehog1446 No need to get harsh! Also, Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast got DLC even BEFORE it gor rereleased on Gamecube, PC and then on Steam (it's a different Port for PC). The DLC for Transformed was actually good, even though it could've been WAY better... I also like Sonic 06 and still wish for a proper rerelease with bug fixes. Fan-Remakes and Level ports to Generations show, that the game could've been fun, if it wasn't rushed. I never played the O6 DLC, but I know that it's a Boss Rush and more/harder missions for all three Characters. At least Boss Rushes should be fun to play, the missions probably not so much... They just need to release some proper DLC for TSR, that's all. If you consider the DLC they already done for games, they should just add that content from the beginning. DLC like Mania Plus, on the other hand, is the way to go and I really wish they would've expanded on Forces and include Story-sections for the other characters and what they life through, while fighting Eggman and Infinite.

Actually, there's several unique stages, and I honestly think the new ones did a much better job of feeling distinct than the Sonic ones present in the first All Stars Racing. The sand ones and Rooftop Run ones come to mind, for example. There's a daytime sand stage, one based on Pyramid Cave, and a fully original one with the aurora borealis in the background.

@@9-VoltGaming Except the two examples I listed don't look alike between the three acts at all, I don't think you read my comment. Sharing a similar theme =/= identical aesthetics in all cases. Mania's Press Garden Zone being a good example. To elaborate more since I didn't do so before, Sand Road is a basic sand stage, then you have Boo's House which has sand while taking some design cues from Pyramid Cave, and finally you have Clockwork Pyramid, which has a mixture of sand and industrial elements to help give it a feeling that it's an Eggman base built into a pyramid. They don't look similar at all, and the most they have in common is that all three have sand assets incorporated into the track layout. For Rooftop Run, you have Market Street which takes heavy inspiration from the original stage, even with the layout, then you have Sky Road which has a sunset view of Spagonia in the clouds, and finally, Haunted Castle, which is a nighttime themed stage with visual cues to Night of the Werehog, and all three stages further pay homage to Unleashed having a day/night cycle incorporated into the story and stages. None of them look the same or blend together because the assets aren't really shared between them, aside from maybe buildings and architecture in the backgrounds to show that it's the same area. Another good example is the ice themed zone, which contains a basic ice level, one that's basically a frozen over Eggman base, and one that has volcanic elements mixed with the ice elements. If you want no variety in Sonic stages, I would say again that All Stars Racing 1 has it worse because of the 9 Sonic stages in the base game, most of them somewhat blend together with the assets feeling very much swapped around. Bringing back most of them wasn't a sharp idea in my opinion, but I'm glad they did give most of them some visual updates to help them stand out a little more than they did 9 years ago.

@@Matt-cn2nn Having emailed one of the devs at Sonic Team, the main reason for Sonic Heroes' bad control is because the lateral acceleration is the same as the front acceleration. It results in rather twitchy movement, and bad controls. I wouldn't say the stages were too long. Even with the Dark Team, the levels are just about the perfect length to me. The visuals are pretty good, the models are pretty good, but the shininess on the models really doesn't look good.

Like, he just said the bad things about the game like bruh I never played CTR but I'm pretty sure the the karts never change color or skins and yeah the characters can have different colors but TSR can change the color of the car. Also, he mentioned the intro of CTR but not the intro in TSR. As you also said, he didn't mentioned the OST and I don't think that TSR needed to have a story and its still there, so why is he complaining about it? It's not relevant to nothing except for character interaction, and I think it's pretty well done, both the story and character interaction, like, the story isn't great but it's good for what it is like, we didn't needed and they still went out of their way to make a story for it. And even tho, TSR doesn't a dlc, I still hope that it will have. And Team Sonic Racing isn't medium, it's really good for what it is, a Sonic spin off game, it has great music, great graphics, a great intro, great gameplay, good story, and great cast of characters, except for Zavok, I also didn't like him.

Also, saying that TSR is bland without friends is your opinion, since you can still have a lot of fun playing the grand prix, the time attack, unlocking the harder modes for the story mode and getting money for the mod pods, even though I hate those wisps thingys. Just wanted to drop the reason that you don't see the Gray, Violet, or Magenta wisps often. Gray Quake and Violet Void are exclusive to Power characters, Magenta Rhythm is exclusive to Technique, and Red Burst is exclusive to Speed.

I agree, if they do make another Riders game, they should go back to how the first game did it (yet again truth is I only have the first game but I plan to get ZG someday so the first is the only one I can suggest for game play), but they also should add a lot more characters. I would like more characters from other media then just the games like some of the Comic characters like Sally Acorn or even the IDW characters like Tangle or Whisper. I would play that game a lot if there were so many characters, there could be a lot of replay ability as well as I think it could sell pretty well if they did that, but that's what I think and they might not go that far since Sonic Team works strangely in my view.

The number 1 best part about this game is the soundtrack. God I missed Jun Senoue/ Crush 40. Beat the game, and my final verdict, it’s just okay. Doesn’t come close to topping Sonic Riders, but it’s passable. Needs more content, characters and racing tracks. But I’m honestly tired of mediocre/passable status with this series. I’m tired of Roger Smith, and need better writers. Man this franchise is a mess.

They keep teasing us with Adventure stuff, but I still don’t know how to feel about that because there’s so many ways to screw it up. Remakes of SA1/2 sound great on paper, but they’d just have to fix any bugs that existed back then, refine the controls, make Amy slightly faster, fix the audio mixing, and of course Senoue-san’s sound team returns for the music and even land a deal to bring back Ryan Drummond to be Sonic again. But, can they really do all of that? I just don’t know.

I really enjoyed this! Great work. My biggest issue with TSR and what stopped me from buying it was the amount of S&A-SRT tracks there are, and not their inclusion, but the lack of outstanding changes. Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe) retains the tradition of Retro Tracks that was established in Mario Kart DS, but those tracks get a lot of changes and tweaks, and they come from throughout Mario Kart history, so the fanservice is plentiful. I just really appreciate it, as someone who grew up with multiple Mario Kart games. That, and 8 Deluxe came with the DLC I never purchased for 8 on Wii U, and that comes with some GREAT crossover!

I think you're missing the point of this video. TSR is like half of a good game. Where's all the content? It's not bad, but there's hardly anything in it. CTR has content up the ass and it's all great. Microtransactions don't change that.

I just feel bad for TSR it has so much potential, yet SEGA doesn't have plans for anything in the future which is how a game like that could fade into obscurity in this day and age. I feel like DLC is a necessity nowadays, because if you want people to play your game, you need to keep it new and fresh constantly to draw in more and more people. Just give us something: New tracks, New Characters, Hell, New Custom parts I don't care, just something new!

It would be better if Nintendo just release a definitive port on *all* consoles (including PC, Xbox and PS) and get straight to the point like Activision did instead of hiding behind a paywall in the form of expensive Mario Machines. The only part about TSR that frustrated me is an achievement(well trophy since I play on PS4) I never got. It was about completing all the story mode challenges on hard mode and it never gave it to me. I collected every single star and key and yes, I did do the daredevil challenges too to get a platinum medal on each one but never gave me that one trophy I needed.

I'm just glad TSR got that PC patch finally, and something tells me they spent a lot of time perfecting the music for that game. CTR is amazing, the original was my first video game EVER, and I honestly believe Nitro-Fueled is the definitive way to experience the game, but as a Sonic fan as well, TSR is untouchable in terms of charm. The music and character interactions keep me coming back and it's sad that other people don't share that view. I get the game has steep competition but it is still very fun, and is the only racer with "team" in the title that actually delivers on that word.

I feel like there's one extra thing that's not touched on for TSR: The tracks are a year and a half long to finish a race in. These tracks go on for so long with so little going on, it feels like boring time trail slogs. Oh, that's also not because it's easy, I'll *RANDOMLY* get passed by half the cast on the final lap. No items being used on me, no item gangbang, I don't even get hit by All-St...Ultimate moves, I just get generally rubber banded all the time at absolutely no fault of my own. Or my AI will be brain-dead and not attempt to catch up even when I'm shoving my unnecessary Wisps down their freaking throats to use. Every single track just ends up as a snooze-fest that I can count down the moments until I'm allowed to Ultimate purely as a means of rocketing the CPU up to me cause I have zero clue why they just fall to last place sometimes.

The grind to get credits in TSR to unlock car parts in the mod pod machine is actually not that bad it cost 10 credits for each role and you earn a lot of credits in races. Sure I would've honestly prefered to buy the car parts that I want instead of getting them randomly in the mod pod machine, but the grind is very bearable nowhere near on the level of grind that is Ctr Nitro Fueled the grind for earning Wumpa Coins in single player races is unbearable without playing online.

Garrulous64 Sure... but for me it’s nostalgic reasons. The only thing I thought was worthwhile for both games was the campaign mode. After that... I just put them down. TSR’s lack of content and CTR’s paywall for more evens them out in my book. But I still feel more insulted towards CTR because... it’s a remake of a game that I loved on the PS1 and Activision had ONE JOB. If you’re gonna do Micro Transactions, at least make everything accessible and not on a 24 hour timer. Still, keep that shit out of my console games at least.
