What a beautiful interpretation of THANKSGIVING. My Grandmother was a Jehovah Witness and didn't celebrate holidays or birthdays, but she ate on Thanksgiving. She is/was probably the single most influential person in my life. I went to Catholic schools growing up and she had me take bible studies where I found out the history of EASTER and CHRISTMAS. I am an INDEPENDENT and have been since 1972 win I first voted, and it was for Mondale back in Lawrence, KS. where I lived and attended Washburn University and graduated. There was at the time a large Native Americans that lived there and I became fascinated with their culture. My Uncle, who became a Jesuit priest, was sent to N. Dakota to be in the parish there, and the Native Americans made him some of the most beautiful robes for service. You're right on your hunch there about Thanksgiving having a Christian foundation.... The second Sunday in October, we in Sweden celebrate Thanksgiving by giving thanks in church to what has been harvested, which some is brought to church to also donate to others. Gobble, gobble!

Glad for this podcast to listen to on the road as I did some errand running and was disappointed on not able to get steamed crabs from a place that closed up for the season. Yet it's alright and I will get my Marylander crab fix elsewhere. 😂 Don't take this the wrong way. I am glad in the words of a Kendrick Lamar song having a "beyotch sit down be humble" timeframe has changed your outlook for the better moving forward. To continue doing what you do well and what was missed by me at certain news points when U weren't out there prior to later 2022. Even if I as a critical fan may not always agree with you or your subjects on the news show or podcast on topics discussed. 100% correct. I'm a registered independent voter. I don't consider myself a democrat or a republican; nor a centrist, for that matter. I see the strengths of both parties, of both partial/partisan perspectives. Each is a part that makes up the whole of democracy. One without the other devolves into some form of fascism on one side or a free-for-all heartless anarchy on the other. That should be readily apparent the last few election cycles with how the extremism in both parties is playing out. It's ironic that both sides thinks that only their side is representative of a democratic republic. In my view, if I may put it this way, it's like watching 10-year olds yelling at each other, "My dad is better than your dad!" Yeah, with that level of mentality. How do they not see themselves?! And not be embarrassed? I learned to see both sides of issues some 40 years ago--it's learnable. It was especially useful as a Human Resources Development consultant, which included conflict mediation work with executives. Put simply, a healthy democracy requires individual responsibility; pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, and such. It ALSO requires giving a hand up to those who legitimately require it, and a handout to those who aren't capable of benefiting from a hand up. All are needed. How is that not obvious to everyone?! BOTH are necessary to the wellbeing of America. And, granted, the real challenge is determining between who needs the hand up and who needs the handout, which would require some sort of oversight/funding to implement. I have wondered if our elected so-called leaders do actually get that, but all their fighting and getting the electorate all riled up with anger was their attempt to get previously complacent voters out to the poles. Seems to have worked if that's the case, but not it's not a very admirable a means of getting us engaged.

I won't keep this long, but as a black man how can I get some help financially and etc. I have a history that it's on for the movies. Struggling and struggling and still don't seem to get any better. Try and change the way you look at things, if you forever see yourself as struggling ....and I get it believe me. Then you always will struggle because that the way you are thinking, is there something you've always been interested in as a job, something you thought of doing when you were young maybe.....put yourself out there, look after yourself the best you can so you feel better about yourself, more confident to get a job you like and want to do, if you take care of your body, exercise even if you don't feel like it but it will make you feel better about yourself to find a better life. Try a course related to something you're interested in, talk to people, get advice, put yourself bout there, it's hard and you can feel discouraged but so do millions of other people, you're not alone so keep fighting for a better life. Try and have a routine, get up, have a plan, get moving, lift some weights, walk more just move, eat as healthy as you can, set goals, small ones and bigger ones, don't get down on yourself keep going, look for work even if it's a job you don't really want,bits a stepping stone to a better job and a better life, don't be hard on yourself and give in to the negative self talk, you will come through this but you need an income, have your own plans and don't tell everyone everything, keep a lot of what you're doing to yourself be careful who you trust because getting hurt and feeling let down can set you back. But try and fake it till you make it but have a plan and get up everyday with the intent that you want a better life and you won't give up until you get it .....keep going, change it up but never give up, you never know what is around the corner and get good advice, take care and all the best.
