Have you ever been reading The Principles from Ray Dalio? I (audio) read it as soon as the book came out…this book is the how to, not only for a Company, but for anything where management is needed even in personal life. Those advices made it for me …until Covid overlapped & some daily briefings that we all know, pursued to keep my head out of the water ( metaphor..) You are saving yourself by doing all what you are doing, any outside support are fabulous & helpful, but what helps us the most in life is when we are personally active participants. And this is when we climb up the steps concretely. I love that you share all your efforts & fights. You are helping many by showing that you are doing it the hard way, which is the right way…my opinion…I have a longer life experience that you….and it always worked…. Do this walk & talk more often….once a week would be good. You time outside walking & breathing hard is just as powerful as your indoor workout… Merci & a bientôt 👍🇫🇷🇺🇸

It’s definitely helpful. Somehow I always find something useful and applicable to my life in what you say in this walk and talks. Like this week, I changed office so my commute changed and I commute by bike now double the distance than I did before so I am doing discomfort training. I was frustrated by getting drenched when it rains so with my husband we actually did an inventory as you called it of things I dislike about my commute trying to control what I can control buying waterproof gear to avoid getting drenched when it suddenly rains. It’s a simple thing but it shows how most of times process is the same for many people.

Yes! Please! Do these for 45-50 minutes! I find these shorter versions kind of “unripened” and a bit of a letdown as they reach their final minutes…cuz I need a little more! They end just as my renewed motivation or inspiration or restoration or resolve or “lust for learning,” or identification with your issues (which are mine as well in many respects), or energized solace after hearing I’m not alone in these things, or knowing that you and I can persist with renewed (daily) discipline to continue our “discomfort training” for the sake of living in integrity and courage, are rising, about to peak, to persist…. Gracias!

How do you fight the fear that focusing on yourself and your relationships will cause your work to suffer. Work is the only think I’m pretty good at. So I work 10-11 hours, then I’m too tired for anything else (excuses because it’s hard) When I was young I did it all, Marine Corps, school, fitness, relationships. Now I’ve become more reclusive, because I’m weary of shitty people, I work, and I avoid working out because I’m fat and broken. I guess now I’m just venting. I probably need a therapist too, but I don’t want to. Sigh, this clearly resonates Chris. Thanks for the talk. 😢😅

Good morning Chris. I just want to say that there are very little people on tv that challenge people in power the way you do on things that matter most to everyone from all sides. You show a high level of toughness backed up with a very educated mindset, that sometimes leaves some of your guests without any real substance to say when they try to hide what we can all see. And I can see why you're the person that you are. You follow a stoic way of life. Toughness is so embedded in you. But with your walk and talks. I see Chris vs Chris. Two people with the same mindset, and same level of toughness cancelling each other out. Einstein once said that "no problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it." You gotta let go and find a different approach to what constantly torments you.

You owe her, you are here because of her & one day I would not even listen to you if you said … « I miss my Mum… »…. I am always happy to hear your walk and talks, and how you have introduced me new ideas and what to consider and think over. I look more forward to these segments then the interviews. It is not that I do not want to listen to the interviews, it is because I have to focus on my finishing my Masters Thesis to get my degree so I can get back to the States for the last years of my life. Also Chris, remember you do not need an know what someone else is thinking of you as they drive by. If I see someone walking or running for exercise, if I think about it at all while driving by, is that they are winning. They are winning the war for better health against the sofa. So not all of it is negative. I have been around a program about taking the 4th through 8th steps is the most difficult step since I was child, actually 6 months of age. I started the youth programs in this at 8 years of age, graduated to the teen program at 12. Then at 18, I tried to make the leap to the adult program and felt out of place with the spouses. So, later in life I tried other programs, however the not taking personal responsibility for ones actions always chases me out. If you are an adult, your parents are not forcing you do what you do today. Luckily I do not have the addictions of my family due to perhaps my neurodiversity and biology at the cellular level not to have receptors to become addicted. Anyway, I have yet to write down a personal inventory. Like everyone else, I fear the 4th step. So, now I have turned more to philosophy and stoicism. However, I am finding that the program I grew up around is more than likely based on stoic philosophy. I wonder if Bill W or Dr. Bob read philosophy.

Hi Chris. I think you are a very decent guy. What is all this stuff about how hard it is, and self inventory, questioning your motivations, etc.....epecially at this stage of your life. I say its a fools errand...the real work is to accept yourself, love yourself, give that same love you've tapped in to to others .......really, there is no other work. I am happy to discuss this with you as I do not make this assertion without having taken the low road, without having learned my lessons through years of gaining self awareness. Ask yourself repeatedly, What is this self effacing all about...look at the comments below, and you get a cue. With respect, Edward

Hi Chris. Thank You for bringing me along on Your walk. I walk too however mostly for other reasons than exclusively to get in shape/loose weight. I sense in You a mental place where I used to be too. You are a "mind" guy. And I am a mind girl (My name is Diana btw - hi). Your strategic mind at this point in Your life seem exhausting. I love Goggins and I have done my inventory as well. Still, just a tip from me, You seem stressed asf. (Sorry for the foul language). I used to look outside myself to try to balance people and situations in order to try to hold "my life" together. Still, it actually took a hotdog salesman to guide me into the inner peace I live in now. Just by the scentence -"how good of a mom can You be to Your kids, if You don't heal Yourself first?" We live our lives to be there for those that matters to us. That is a given considering we have a "pack" mentality. However, what is most commonly missed is that it is a double edged sword. No one can live our lives for us, nor can we live someone else's life for them. We need to start with us. The stronger we are, the more we can be of aid to others. No one will stress themselves down to please us. And that is true self perseverance. It's not arrogant nor selfish. It is an action of self love. Arrogance or selfishness is only measured AFTER we've healed ourselves first. If we allow ourselves time to heal ourselves first then, for instance, we will lose weight faster. How? Anxiety and stress triggers cortisol production. One may be like a skinny shrimp- however the belly will look as if we have an internal keg on the inside of our abdomen. No crunches or 24/7 diets will loose it. Because (as You know) hormones always win. I wish I could send You a bottle of my inner serenity. I've got leukemia, 2 autoimmune diseases and by Friday at the latest I expect my upcoming biopsies to show that I have a nasty skin cancer to boot. Life is simple and uncomplicated today too😂. I'm 55, single parent w 4 kids whom will be homeless if I croak (they are 26, 25 25 and 24). Even though ppl have critiqued me over having them studying from home, it is not easy to cut the studies to get a full time job on top of getting approved of rental contracts that is set to a minimum annual income of 15 000+. I am experiencing bouts of stress (now especially) however, like You said training or research is what defuse my anxiety. Life tends to be royally sucky, however, this moment, just now, I feel good. I can not control much of what stressors in my life (ppl and situations) will try to stress me out with. All I can control is, as You said, if I choose to react to it. Is it vital to my life? Does this situation they try to push on me reside within my moral obligation, my legal obligation or out of guilt/shame? Can I get it done permanently or can I change/referring it onto someone else that may aid in a way that I feel I can't manage right now? The only ones I refuse to let down is my children, my alzheimer stricken mother and myself. My siblings get annoyed that I won't always be a social butterfly on what ever stuff they are into. I have an obligation to me to live longer and be as healthy as I can, so I can be here for my kids and mom. I'll do power's of attorneys to my siblings so we divide more.s care. I have been alone in moms all dealings over the past 6 yrs. And now I've divided it into my sis manage living placements, my brother her monthly finances and me moms medicinal and treatment. So, if life gets too intense, my "personal Goggins" advice would be to ask Yourself -"am I my own best friend?" And -"if my best friend where in that situation what would I advice them to do?". You need to remember You don't have to be everyone's hero when You can't manage to be Your own, first. Guide them, set them up with outside sources, just to give Yourself time to heal. The better (not sooner) You heal, the stronger You will be in the upcoming future. Hugs and stay safe. I hope this reply hasn't offended You. I just wanted to say - I can relate. Only You can be held accountable for Your feelings as well as others for theirs

And we love a man with a little flesh on him (and IN him). Besides, what's life without a few cinnamon buns once in a while... and some pasta, of course!

Okay, go home, stop torturing yourself and eat one cinnamon bun. This guy doesn’t stop beating himself up.

These are really helpful to me. I like how you don't shy away from your ups and downs, how you handle adversity and your thoughts. Keep up the great work! I hope you have great success and this helps build you into the person you were meant to be.

Thank you very much. Can you let us know how it works out with you cutting your weight. While keeping your muscle. With the doctor you were talking about.

Allow a little inconsistency into life in order to make room for forgiveness; to quiet your spirit when a revelation presents itself. Be quiet, and give yourself space to grow, to become more aware. You have a very busy mind, but some busyness seems to be habitual negativity. Life opens in the light.

Would it be possible to start up an old guys- ball team and have some fun again, instead of doing things you loathe? While acknowledging what you want to change is really good, a personal inventory to me is rather a positive discovery of what you have: Your resources, both physically, but most of all your competencies mentally is awesome to list, so please do that! Btw, I've gained 20 kg (40 lbs?) and have never in my life had any overweight, it's going to be an interesting journey for me to lose it, and thus becoming better to relate to others who do. There is always a gift in everything!

And if you believe that life is always going to be hard, that's how you will feel, by recognizing and confirming that belief. Try the opposite. Then what?
